What I don't understand is why the threat of going to the Police station or EFCC or whatever makes people too scared that they allow instead to be robbed in broad day light. If you know you have nothing to fear, why is the threat of been taken to EFCC scary to you. How can you be so stupid! You're a corper with a legal ID, yet you let yourself get robbed! Please for all those reading, a policeman has no right to search your phone! If they ask for your phone, ask them for a search warrant. You have rights! Let them know that. Threaten to call you lawyer if possible. And if you know you're not guilty of anything, be the one to suggest going to the police station. I promise you they would let you go. Go to Twitter and tag all those you're asked to tag. You must get that money back!

I'm angry men.

Relax, bro! Maybe he wasn’t stupid as you have alluded. Truth is, right now I m tempted to call you the same thing you called him but I won’t.

This was a highway, my friend. What if those guys were not real policemen? What if they were armed robbers in disguise? Or even kidnappers?

Or didn’t you read where the guy you hastily called stupid said those guys had no name tags or any other form of identification?

Wasn’t that enough sign to not just play smart but to play safe, being conscious of the fact those guys could be more than the appearance they were putting up?

Again I ask- What if they were kidnappers? What if they were armed robbers?

I’m sure your ”intelligent” mind did not factor all that in, but thank God the “stupid” mind of the poster did.

You wanted the guy to follow them to go to the police station or efcc?

Meanwhile, did it occur to you that it’s possible the station and efcc they were referring to was their den where they will not only take his money, but his phone, and other valuables that were with him?

And maybe even start demanding for ransom before his release. Or maybe even maim or kill him.

But according to you, he was stupid to have at least considered such possibility and decided to play safe.

If this was happening in the city or in a town, yes, one would advise that he put up some level of resistance.

But in a highway, all alone, because the driver and the passengers will obviously leave him, and in the hands of men whose identity and motive are questionable, dude, that’s not being stupid. That’s being freaking smart.

So at the end of the day, it seems you might just be the one who is stupid and not the guy.

But like I said earlier on, I will resist the temptation of giving you that tag like you did with the poster.

sometimes, you all should understand that we are not in a normal society. Yes,under the law you have rights, but when before them, you are tagged a bloody civilian, and at that point, you require wisdom to come out from their claws! Claiming you know your rights in the presence of some angry, desperate, unknown men with A.k 47 who care less about your enshrined rights is pure 'wisdom' smiles!

Do you notice if there's I think a calabar man among them name INEH YIBILA OR YIBALA??

When I travelled last via that route, I was also stopped with my phone searched. I am a freelance professional and if they will always see something to hold down especially since I get paid in USD. So, I use a second space feature on my phone that gives my another phone in my main phone to hide all my business applications and messages.

Even at that, I still paid 500NGN before they freed me.

I did fulfil my promise by going this Saturday (5 sept) to cut the story short when we reach Ore Benin road (6pm), this husky black Mopol officer stop our Toyota Siena car (public transport), he ask us to get down and he approach me remove your ear phone mister man in which i did and ask me what do i do for living? and i answered with a friendly smile sir Am a youth corps, then he reply me "Really" where is your ID card and i show him and he jokingly reply me u be Yoruba boy and i said yes Sir.

Then he ask for my phone, that's when i knew something is not okay, I actually gave him my phone and he kept on searching through my what'sapp message, Inbox and pic gallery. The next thing i will hear is Mr man move to that side (my heartbeat was already running madly) he ask me why can i have 85k in my account, Why am i using 2 what'sapp account. The next thing he started calling me names you this lazy yahoo boys, god catch u today, krokor dey ur yansh this time.

I beg him to let me go that am not a yahoo boy but all my plead fall into zero then he start to threaten me that he will hand me over to EFCC then he remove his handcuff and I plead to him multiple times then his colleagues came to me which i thought he want to help me beg him only for him to say "oh boy u sef do normal and water him flower" to my surprise one those boys selling gala and drinks came to us and brought out a POS machine and this stupid Mopol force me to transfer 80k then he release me but the strange thing is that these police officers are not with their tags to reveal their names and numbers and they kept calling eachother in nicknames like scorpion, Rambo they only wear that Mopol polo shirt and carry AK 47 rifles.

The painful part of my ordeal is that the 85k is my only savings.....I know that the Lord am serving will surely punish them....Police is not your friend o

In as much as Mopol has done this and things worse than this, but we can authoritatively tell you that these particular ones that stole your 80,000 naira are nothing but Armed High Way Robbers.
Including the boy selling the Gala with the POS.
They only decided to use non-violent force, so that they can rob more victims at once!
Sorry for your loss,
We know how painful it could be when you are robbed out of your life-savings.
ARMED ROBBERS robbed you, not Mopol.
They will all meet their waterloo before the end of this month,
They can never escape it.

And let us assume these animals are part of the evil, bad and corrupt mopol officers,
As a graduate, you should have even told them you prefer them to take you to EFCC,
Since you are clean!

And watch them leave you alone,
Cos you know your onions and right!

You know we love saying the truth always, without minding whose ox is gored.
We just told you the whole truth here.

Another angle to this.....

.....and what does his dressing has to do with him being robbed?
This is how the bad officers will continue to step on y'all.
Shame!
Your advice is somehow acceptable but sometimes when you find yourself in this situation, you don't need to start claiming rights with them, remember they can still be armed robbers in disguise as you stated, who can tell, they fit tell you omo since you dey rack sense dey tell us make we carry you go EFCC, oya take am kpor kpor, next thing we will read here is that a corp member was shot dead by armed robbers in mopol regalia for refusing to allow them to rob him.

Just pray not to come in contact with them, either mopol or armed robbers.

I believe the recipient of that fund will be traced if he follows it up and all accomplices fished out, just a matter of little time if he presses the right button.

Oga stop saying what you have little or no idea of, have you ever encountered these folks(mopol, sars, fsars etc) before? I highly doubt it.

These people are worse than high way robbers, they will LEGALLY rob you in broad daylight. I've encountered them on different occasions, my only saving grace was my force background, they don't care whether you're into frauds or not, all they cared about is your money, and they'd get it in any way available to them. You can't prove your innocence with Nigeria Police, they will go to the extent of threatening you with their arms, without seeing anything illegal/fraudulent on you.

I know that you're a friend of the administration, tell your bosses to reform these animals, I wish all the bad eggs amongst them horrible death. TF!

Go to your bank and lodge a complaint. They may likely ask you to get a lawyer to write to the receiving bank to transfer back the funds
I helped someone to recover his fund. Yesterday. We didn't go to the length of getting a lawyer because I was able to track down the physical address of the pos woman before the scammer could get the money .
I am no lawyer pls and I can't be of help to you before nairalander go come say I wan scam you

I guess he did the right thing by not following them to any unknown destination (so called efcc office) by that time of the day(6pm) because is almost dark to follow unknown people to unknown destination. i served in Benin, Lis' will always advice us to be in our resident before 6pm to avoid risking our lives. Any way i don't blame the guy,if is me i will come back tomorrow to fight for my money with high ranking officers as a corper with the receipt from the POS. starting from the Gala boy, because i believe those hawkers knows them.

Thank God some one has finally opened a thread on this! i was also a victim similar to this OP right here but mine happened at iyana oba lagos state. there were about Four police officers Who stopped my Uber vehicle and told me i was a yahoo boy i pleaded profusely to all of them but it fell into deaf ears! they took me to a yellow bus waiting and asked me to sit .when i entered i saw a guy who was also taken by them and they said he was also guilty of the crime ..this guy was already in tears while i maintained calmness to know what they were about to do, next thing they started checking my whatsapp and gallery. after the search they could only find pics of foriegn girls from my whatsapp forums downloaded in my fone and they claimed i was a yahoo guy or cultist .any ways they threatened to take me away and then they saw my acct balance with 100k in it i pleaded with them that the.money was meant for my business so they took me to a near by POS shop inspite of all my pleas and withdrew all my life savings of 100k then mocked me and asked if i have change left to go home..it was a horrible experience and i cant bear it but share to every one here of how wicked those lout and thiefs called Sarz or police are! im still in pain with what those guys did and my God will punish all of them!

God shocked shocked 100k just like that it shall not be well with them.

The annoying thing is that this trash is from the Middle Belt down to the South of the Country. The Abokis whom are tagged 'illiterates' can never condone this shit as they dare not try it here in the North. More worrisome is that the extortionist cops are Southerners! OP I sympathise with U, take drastic acts to recover your money via the various platforms suggested to you. Nigeria is a failed state, God help us.

I have entered a vehicle where other guys were yahoo boys they all paid their way through the Journey. but when ever we get to a check point the police seperates me from them. donno the reason but just thinking it could be the way I dressed

Las las, na to pay 1m or go to court.Based on the fake evidences they generated, you won't want to go to court.

That is if they really take you to EFCC and not inside a bush to go and waste you....

Don't mind the guy,he obviously hasn't experienced them before if not he won't be saying that.

Not sure if your brains are functioning.
Mine is very much functional... The thing is these police officers won't stop a responsibly dressed person and transfer money from his account just like that. + Y is he the only one the police decided to prey on... Remember he was on a public vehicle

Sorry about your loss but dont be a chicken.

With the evidence of the POS from your bank account they can be smoked out and you get your money out.

First thing first go into Twitter narrate this story and tag the official police handle for complaint and tag segezz and rugged man. Make sure you also provide the evidence of the deduction that have been charged from your account details the narration will show from your bank statement. Paste it there with the culprit account name and bank statement.

Ask twitter Nigeria for help on what to do by asking them to retweet.

Under a week your fund will be returned and those dudes will go through room trial and likely lose their jobs.

Please proceed and act fast you are a sharp corper.

He will likely get his money.

They will NOT loose their jobs. They always sort out their bosses when they make money from unfortunate Nigerians and those bosses will cover for them.
It is a syndicated business.

What if they're no real policemen
Even if they are fake but since the POS was made used for the transaction, the record will be there.. so it will be easy to trace.
