How Do I Get My Money Back? by switkera(f): 12:28pm On Sep 10, 2020
Hi everyone.
I don't know the right section to post this but I hope I get help.

I bought some items in a popular pharmacy in my area and paid using my card. Due to network issue, the cashier tried my card on two PoS (GTBank and WEMA) but was declined. So I was given two declined slips. I had to use the Atm so I could pay cash.

When I got home I got a debit alert from my bank of the same transaction that was declined. I called the pharmacy and they said the money will be reversed. After I waited for over a week and no sign of my money I went to my bank (GTBank) to complain and I was given a reversal form to fill. Weeks after no sign of my money, I tried reaching GTBank on various platforms before I was finally attended to on WhatsApp, and they said the merchant bank claimed I received value for the money which I didn't.

I have complained to the pharmacy severally but they weren't saying anything reasonable, I went there two weeks ago and I insisted they give me my money. Eventually they collected the decline slip and promised to go to their bank to rectify the issue.

Fast forward to last week I went and they said that WEMA has sent my bank an email, bla bla bla, that I should wait, my money will be reversed. It's been almost two months now since the transaction date and nothing has been done. I need my money, it's stuck in between GTB, WEMA and the pharmacy. I need opinions from fellow nairalanders. Sorry for the lengthy post.
Thanks.

This very incident will make me close my GTBank account. As my bank they should take it upon themselves to make sure I get back my money but no. At the bank I received no atom of respect as a customer. I know they have a lot of customers and I will help them reduce that by closing all my accounts with them.

GTB may not be your problem here. If the money actually got transferred to the Pharmacy Shop's account. Has the Pharmacy Shop denied not receiving the money in their account? I think the problem is the Pharmacy proving they didn't get the money with a prove of the statement within the period.

To get solution, you may have to go first to your bank with a representative of the pharmacy then to his Wema bank too to sort things out since we don't know who is denying.

GTBank's approach gave me a reason to put a portion of blame on them. The pharmacy insisted that they didn't receive the money.

Bro it is painful. If truly it was your bank's fault, after filling out the reversal form, they'd have returned your money.
That's all I have to say

Demand for the statement of your account from your bank. If your money was debited, the address of the POS the pharmacy used will be written. Take it to the pharmacy and demand for your money. If they refuse. Its best you get a lawyer involved.

op the money will be reversed, but it might take months. I did run a POS center before it was super stressful anytime it happens.

Its between your bank and the pharmacy
Re: How Do I Get My Money Back? by wildlife9999(m): 5:47pm On Sep 15, 2020
This issue is between your bank and the pharmacy. Best thing to do go to your bank request for bank statements between that that day the incident takes place. You must remember the date. And time that would enable the bank verify this issue because date and time will show on your bank statement .
