Why does God use adversity to lift people up?

Example Joseph was sold into slavery and he became Prime Minister, also Daniel and others.

It does not follow. This is a mere consolation of the poor people who think that their adversity is for lifting up. Most of the time, the poor in adversity remain poor after the adversity. Take the case of 95% of Nigerians as an example. However, let's give hope to the poor by inculcating this belief in them still.

The place called 'up' is a class of its own. You need adjustment in all departments of life to be able to have and sustain that class. Adversity is a quick lunch into that category. Whenever things are rough around you, watch out and be careful, promotion is around the corner. However, it's possible for one to miss that promotion. All adversity from God has expiring date - it's for a time or season. Read Hebrews 12:1-11 meditatively may God give you understanding.

You are born into adversity, it is rather that God is trying to take you out of it, but when you Reject Him and He gets tired of toasting you, He would leave you alone in it.

But if follow Him, He would take you out of it and silence them all.

I think this post is for those that believe in God.
It's sad that the mind of an average person has been so conditioned around money. Is money only the way God uplift pple? (Money is just a creation of mankind as a mean of exchange) This generation needs a character reset!

What about those who end up dying despite their adversities? How will you explain that? Adversity is not a guarantee for lifting up. Rather it's just parts of the challanges humans have to face on earth here.

OP, I prefer that you use modern day example where everyone can relate.

However, I don't think it is everyone that faces adversity that is lifted in the process.

Some die with their adversities irrespective of their years of prayers.

Some are able to breakthrough.

So I don't think it is every Christian who faces adversity that will be lifted up in the process.

Nonsense. That's like saying that your god is a masochist and even though he is omnipotent and can use other means, he revels in cruelty.

Only a moronic religion teaches that their god uses adversity to build people up. For every story of Joseph that you heard there are countless stories of people who didn't make it out of the adversity. There are also countless people who did the right thing in adversity and got no reward. There are many Josephs that could just as well have died in that prison that we never heard of their stories. Adversity my ass.

It's easy to say in hindsight that Joseph became a prime minister after adversity. But what if he had slept with the woman and still became the prime minister through her connections, would you still be saying all these stories?

Lastly, the last story I would trust is the story in the bible. Seeing as it is written by the supporters of the character being talked about. If Joseph had slept with the woman and went to the prison for it, they could just have written another story too to make it sound nice. That's how most stories in history are written.

I feel it's because adversity is a test of faith......when we hustle and pray for things...... we tend to value it more.......a woman who spent 10yrs looking for a child will value the child more than a woman who just wanted to have fun and a child clicked......same with men who hustled badly for money and one who just hit jackpot.......so for me adversity is like a college......once you graduate.......you are given a certificate of victory.

guy, the fact that you don't believe in a religion doesn't make you smarter than the rest. Learn to respect people's belief. Very insensitive comment.

If you don't receive sense today, you'll never have sense in your life again.

Even in everyday life and in school we are taught that in order to have the future we desire, we must be willing to pass through the pain and hassles of hardwork, disciple, perseverance etc

It is no coincidence that all the self made billionaires in the world faced adversity before being who are they are today. I once read that Jeff Besoz sometimes had to work for 18 hours daily in his basement when he first started Amazon.

Isaac Newton tried numerous times before he was able to power a light bulb. - Adversity.

The wright brothers faced several adversities before they could invent the aeroplane. - Adversity.

Ask any successfull person and they will tell they had to pass through hell before attaining the height they are at today. -Adversity

The best athletes train for several hours daily. -Adversity

All these show adversity so before bashing religion do yourself a favor and buy a brain cuz the one you currently have is on comatose.

God lifts people from adversity... He doesn't USE adversity as a tool.

Adversities in life are a direct and indirect product of humanities constant greed, lies and thieving tendencies.

We must stop this thought-pattern that tends to push every event as the "will of God" without us taking responsibility or holding people responsible for what should be done that isn't done!

You have to be tested to show you really deserve it, abd you trust God.

Adam and Eve fell at their own testing, and lost

Jesus Christ was tested, and he won and now he has the name above every name.

Same way many people will be tested, even at the great tribulation, to show that you actually love and can stand for God... As the Bible says, "they loved not their lives unto death"

Accepting being in a state of adversity obviously means, you have handed it over to God... it has gone beyond man.
