Top 10 Bible Passages that are Unbiblical by Nobody: 10:40am On Sep 13, 2020
A list of the top 10 worst Biblical verse has been drawn up, which includes approval for sexism, genocide and slavery.

No. 1:St Paul’s advice about whether women are allowed to teach men in church:

“I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.” (1 Timothy 2:12)

No. 2: In this verse, Samuel, one of the early leaders of Israel, orders genocide against a neighbouring people:

“This is what the Lord Almighty says... ‘Now go and strike Amalek and devote to destruction all that they have. Do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’” (1 Samuel 15:3)

No. 3: A command of Moses:

“Do not allow a sorceress to live.” (Exodus 22:18)

No. 4: The ending of Psalm 137, a psalm which was made into a disco calypso hit by Boney M, is often omitted from readings in church:

“Happy is he who repays you for what you have done to us – he who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.” (Psalm 137:9)

No. 5: Another blood-curdling tale from the Book of Judges, where an Israelite man is trapped in a house by a hostile crowd, and sends out his concubine to placate them:

“So the man took his concubine and sent her outside to them, and they raped her and abused her throughout the night, and at dawn they let her go. At daybreak the woman went back to the house where her master was staying, fell down at the door and lay there until daylight. When her master got up in the morning and opened the door of the house and stepped out to continue on his way, there lay his concubine, fallen in the doorway of the house, with her hands on the threshold. He said to her, ‘Get up; let’s go.’ But there was no answer. Then the man put her on his donkey and set out for home.” (Judges 19:25-28)

No. 6.sword not peace

Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.(Mathew 10:34-36)

No. 7: A daughter is burned as an acceptable sacrifice to God.

“And Jephthah made a vow to the Lord, and said, ‘If you will give the Ammonites into my hand, then whoever comes out of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return victorious from the Ammonites, shall be the Lord’s, to be offered up by me as a burnt-offering.’ Then Jephthah came to his home at Mizpah; and there was his daughter coming out to meet him with timbrels and with dancing. She was his only child; he had no son or daughter except her. When he saw her, he tore his clothes, and said, ‘Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low; you have become the cause of great trouble to me. For I have opened my mouth to the Lord, and I cannot take back my vow.’” (Judges 11:30-1, 34-5)

No. 8: The Lord is speaking to Abraham in this story where God commands him to sacrifice his son:

‘Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt-offering on one of the mountains that I shall show you.’ (Genesis 22:2)

No. 9:The cannibalistic God makes people eat human flesh.

"And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me; Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat." (Leviticus 26:27–29 King James Version)

No. 10: “Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the cruel.” (1 Peter 2:18)

The antinomian viewpoint holds that, because Jesus accomplished all that was required by the law, thus fulfilling it, he made it unnecessary for anyone to do anything further( means he was to live a perfect sinless life) and by dying on the cross he canceled all the old practices

All that list was rightfully settled in the past with many many teachings on them spanning years.

But unfortunately for you, these are not the days of the giving of such lectures, but these are the days of Separation (rapture).

If you do not know the answers find someone who can teach them to you quickly or else,... you are already doing the elsing!

I believe in God, no one knows his ways. He mainly vented his anger on people who broke his law and nations who didnt obey him. God made his own children walk 40 years a journey which should have taken them 11 days. this generation should be grateful Jesus came o, we for dey chop heavenly slap anyhow

The OP is just trying to be mischievous... Upon all he has highlighted, how many Christian do we have going about killing in the name of Jesus or shouting they are killing in the name of Christian God?
He might want to argue that centuries ago, some people were guilty of such, but not anymore and if any, they are fraud.
Bible is not a story book that can just be picked up and interpreted anyhow as we have in Acts chapter 8 vs 30-31
You need divine understanding to be able to comprehend, more reason the bible advice for one to seek understanding and be weary of wolves in sheep's clothing.
In summary, pray for divine guidance if you truly wants to understand the bible

Which kind of confusion is this?

OP, did you just say BIBLE VERSES that are not BIBLICAL?

If they are not Biblical, are they Koranic?

Why should all these confusions arise from the Bible? What were the writers thinking?

No wonder we have different Christian denominations hold conflicting doctrines and each of them have Biblical scriptures as backups.

Yes his reasons are suspicious. And if bonafide, he would require much good classes to catch up, classes of which are unfortunately scarce and almost absent today.

Dont be confused, for example when they tell us about jesus they describe him as a happy tolerant person that can't even hurt a fly,,,and the same Jesus in Luke 19 vs 20 said But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them--bring them here and kill them in front of me.'" so I say thats a bible verse where Jesus acted un Jesus like..lol

I still blame the writers of the Bible.

They should have looked into these contradictions and remove those verses.

Lol. How cunning of you.
So you'll ignore the verse 11 of that Luke 19 that said Jesus was speaking in illustrations/parables?

Your problem should be that you're looking for faults in the Bible even when there aren't any.

A list of the top 10 worst Biblical verse has been drawn up, which includes approval for sexism, genocide and slavery.

If you need guidance concerning what the Bible truly teaches, you should speak up, put sentiment aside and stop cherry picking verses when you do not understand the entire context.

No. 1:St Paul’s advice about whether women are allowed to teach men in church:

“I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.” (1 Timothy 2:12)

Most people think the Bible is misogynistic, but that is not the case at all.

The apostle Paul is not against women
He was inspired to state simply—that women should learn in total submissiveness and that they should be in subjection to those taking the lead in the congregation.(1Corinthians 14:34)
They should not try to usurp authority from the men in the congregation by any means so that congregational programs can be carried out in order and in accordance with God's arrangement.(1Corinthians 14:33,40)

The total destruction of the Amalekites was a long promise by God waiting to be fulfilled by the Israelites.
Note that when the Israelites came out from Egypt, instead of the Amalekites to meet them(the Israelites) with bread, water and shelter—they came to wage war against Israel(Exodus 17:8.).
As a result, the God of the Israelites who rescued them from Egypt took it very personal and was infuriated and vowed to exterminate the Amalekites completely for their inhumane acts against his people. (Exodus 17:14, 1Samuel 15:2)

No. 3: A command of Moses:

“Do not allow a sorceress to live.” (Exodus 22:18)

Among the other Law he gave to the Israelites—he specifically said that

“There should not be found in you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, anyone who employs divination, anyone practicing magic, anyone who looks for omens, a sorcerer, anyone binding others with a spell, anyone who consults a spirit medium or a fortune-teller, or anyone who inquires of the dead” — Deuteronomy 18:10-11
The above acts and practises are detestable/disgusting to the true God because they involve spiritism/demonism—i.e. communicating with demons(fallen angels who are in opposition to God)
So anybody in ancient Israel who willingly practises such acts will pay the ultimate price with their life. It's not debatable.

No. 4: The ending of Psalm 137, a psalm which was made into a disco calypso hit by Boney M, is often omitted from readings in church:

“Happy is he who repays you for what you have done to us – he who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.” (Psalm 137:9)
The ending of Psalm 137:9 involves a whole other prophecy in the book of Revelation chapters 17&18.
Understanding context is key.

While the full reasons for this act is not known, the concubine was previously unfaithful to the man (Judges 19:2)
Since the account of Judges is condensed, we cannot be dogmatic about the reasons for handing her over.

No. 6.sword not peace

Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.(Mathew 10:34-36)

Jesus knew that his teachings would bring divisions amongst family members. That's why he told them beforehand what would come of them if they chose to become his followers. Usually, it's the family members who make it tough and difficult for those who choose to adhere to Bible standards.

Many people have misconceptions about the account of Jephthah and his daughter.
So first, it's worthy to note that God would never ask/accept a burnt human sacrifice—since it's detestable to him. Please read Deuteronomy 18:10 & Jeremiah 7:31
Jephthah fulfilled his promise to his God, namely, that his daughter serve in God's sanctuary for the rest of her life. That's why Judges 11:40 could say that the daughters of Israel would go every year to the sanctuary to speak with Jephthah's daughter.

May I ask what you hope to gain lifting scriptures up here and there without considering the whole text? Did Abraham later offer his son up as a sacrifice? C'mon be smart and read up Genesis 22:11-14.
Abraham knew that his God was the one who blessed him with Isaac so he also knew that his God had the power to resurrect his son should anything happen to him.
It was all a test on Abraham's faith sir.

God simply said that if the Israelites abandoned his Law and statutes, things would get difficult for them that they would consider eating their children.
God wasn't supporting cannibalism.

No. 10: “Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the cruel.” (1 Peter 2:18)

Were you expecting the Bible to encourage reprisals between slaves/servants and their masters?
The Bible—being God's word—always motivates us to maintain healthy relationships anywhere we find ourselves—whether we work for somebody or whether people work for us.(Romans 12:18)
That's simply it.
You're just the one who's reading the wrong meaning into it.

I disagree. Were you there when God spoke to them on it? It's the instruction God gave to them concerning their life. So it's not unbiblical.

My issue with all these is why the hell will the instruction God gave to them applies to my life. Why should what God told them be guiding light to how I live my life. Has God stop talking to us individually?

In the past they were to keep over 700 commandments but Jesus summarized into 2 commandments. You are not a good student of the bible.

The only place that's literal in the old testament is the place that talk abt tithing

Now go and strike Amalek and devote to destruction all that they have. Do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’” (1 Samuel 15:3)

U are really defending this genocide and injustice ,big shame!!! tell me the fault of children ,women ,ox ,sheep, camel ,donkey

Genocide comes to mind when people thought of wiping out an entire tribe or race.

Though God didn't explain why he gave the order through his Prophet, but we can use our own brains to grasp why such order is necessary!
For instance Amalekites chose to be God's enemy when he was leading his people to the promised land, so if the Israelites should spare them then they will still come to drag territories with them later and that's exactly what most of the tribes they spared did much later.
The women and children may be some kind who often plan for vengeance, taking away their lifestock could be tantamount to stealing, and that's exactly what most people does back then!

Nevertheless God knows exactly why he gave the order, even in our own generation a whole community was wiped out during the tenor of a President here in Nigeria.

I remembered a colleague of mine once told me the same President visited Kaduna due to killings attached to religious dispute some months after the genocide in the delta region. The President summoned the monarch and the then Kaduna governor and said

"The last time i witnessed such was during the civil war, i have a question for both you the monarch and the governor, 'if Kaduna is wiped out from Nigeria, will Nigeria stop being called Nigeria?'"
Both the monarch and governor were silent, then Mr President walked away angrily without saying anything further, he was driven to the nearest airport and back to Abuja.

The result two fowls never poked each other in Kaduna again until the President left office!

The governor and monarch were scared, they called all their people and warned them strictly because the Bàbá can do exactly as he said and Nigeria will continue to be called Nigeria with or without Kaduna State.

But what happened few years later? The same situation arises in Borno state, the former President advised the incumbent President to order fire for fire but unfortunately for Nigeria the then President did not take action immediately.
Well Nigeria is still suffering insurgency due to the permissiveness of the other President till today! undecided

Lesson learnt! A stitch in time saves nine! smiley

Lol. How cunning of you.
So you'll ignore the verse 11 of that Luke 19 that said Jesus was speaking in illustrations/parables?

Your problem should be that you're looking for faults in the Bible even when there aren't any.

There aren't any?
