Talks progressing between Manchester United and Real Madrid to reach the total agremeent for Sergio Reguilon. The two clubs are discussing about the ‘buy back clause’ that Manchester United won’t accept. Reguilon and his agents have positive feelings - he wants to join.

- Fabrizio Romano
Remove the buy-back clause, and get him pls.

He’ll still leave in 4 - 5yrs time, but hopefully making some profit for the club.

Teams play according to their strength...With VDB, we can opt for a diamond midfield and still do well...Van De Beek and Bruno are very attacking minded...

You are the person who is being rigid here, nobody has said Sancho won't make a good addition but not for that price. We can opt for other alternatives that will come cheaper. Our starting front 3 can hold their own against any other team in the league, we just need reliable substitutes for them and if not, we make do with the quality we have in AMF
I’m being rigid?

Every top team IN THE WORLD has at least one natural Right-Winger, and I’m being rigid?

Ok.

This is part of the foolishness the board exhibits regularly. What is there to discuss? If they don't want to remove the clause then we should move on to another LB like Telles or whoever.
I don't think any new info came from the club but Fabrizio must report something. He was probably told status quo remain the same or something like that and it will be reported like say we camp in front of RM begging for a transfer

1) I think Dortmund are really serious and won't even sell him to us now if we come this late in the window and they can't get an adequate replacement.

2) If we go by the true value of players he is not worth that amount, especially in this post-COVID era where all clubs are feeling the pinch. However most players are sold for more than they are actually worth, therefore if you go by Karvetz 80m Euro, Victor Osimhen 72m Euro, Chilwell 50m Euro then Sancho should be worth about 100m Euro.

3) I don't want him to be bought for 120m Euro especially this late in the season because of the added and unnecessary pressure that he will face.
Firstly he would be the first 100m pound English player. Secondly coming after the foolishly protracted negotiations there will be so much scrutiny compared to if we had done it quickly and early in the window. Thirdly he would be coming without any pre-season with his new team mates.

To summarize, it is a complex situation and even though i would prefer us not to go above 90m pounds i.e 100m Euro, i think we might have to if we mean business.

Both sides have good arguments but i don't see why some are insulting each other and going so personal with the issue though.

Lastly Sancho or no Sancho we need a LB to compete with Shaw and keep him on his toes. Move Williams to RB as an attacking sub for AWB.
I'm just more concerned about the fact that we're unable to get some players off our books. I'm trying to understand what's happening here

Maybe. But immediately Madrid insisted on the buy back clause we should have moved on. The season has started already, this is not the time for useless discussions.

If we can't sign a RW does it mean we shouldn't look forward to what we can achieve this season? Should we just forget the season?

Even if Sancho comes, he'll need a good RB making overlapping runs if not, he will be easily marked out of a game with two men on him...Next season, we'd start operation sign a new RB...

There's little or planning with the way we go about acquisitions in this club...Hackimi perfectly complemented Sancho...Wan-Bissaka? OMG!

Ed and is goons should test Villareal resolve with a £40m offer for Chukwueze, make this RW matter end.

Ae don't have to spend 80M, 90M or over 100M to get good players. City as rich as they are have never spent more than 70M on a single player. It's all about planning and proper negotiation. If we had done the necessary ground work like properly managed teams such as City, Bayern and Madrid, we would not be chasing Sancho for more than 1 year haggling on price.

Leicester bought Mahrez for less than 1M from a lower tier French team, we all know how good he is at the moment. Playing in the championship does not mean a player is not good. Vardy played in virtually all of the lower tier of English football. I won't be surprised if Benhrama eclipses Sancho in the next 5 years.

You mentioned the use of stop gap players, If Bayern can use the likes of Perisic, Coutinho, and James Rodrigues why can't United do the same? There is nothing wrong with the idea of plugging some holes in a team with older quality players. I hope we won't regret shelling out 120M on Sancho and he ends up changing nothing while other teams snap up other right wingers that perform exceptionally well next year.

We should learn from Barca....
Coutinho, Greizmann and Dembele all over 100M each and they have been unable to take Barca to the next level.
Well said jare, SAF signed Henrik Larsson for 6 month, signed Michael Owen and Mourinho also sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a stop gap players, with massive result afterward. We won't Sancho or any other good pacy stillful RW but we won't pay anywhere that figure quoted for Sancho..

This is a team that will play 50-60 games this season.

If you decide to expand it to every top team in the world, you might just realize that Manchester United is the only club that does not have a natural Right-Winger.
Na here we dey grin

There is this Rodrygo boy at Madrid, he’s a natural right winger and very good. If we could tempt him? He doesn’t get much playing time at Madrid.

That’s why when you read some posts, you just realize that some of us don’t really know how bad our position is.

Because of small Greenwood, we now feel that we’ve arrived.

Ok.
The question is, if we don't sign Sancho, will we die?
Everybody knows we have a right wing problem.

Sancho or no sancho it should be solved.

I was hyping Sancho when Pietro said i should take out time when i am free to watch Pepe clips.

I still tried to be stubborn until another time i was hyping Sancho when Eph12 said that Pepe will be a hit and that anybody could quote him.

I then dropped a Greenwood video and Elrony now said that that was exactly how Pepe played.

If na you won't you be convinced? grin cheesy grin cheesy

Rodrygo would be almost as expensive as Sancho, if not more sef. Madrid bought him as a relatively unknown 18yr old from South America for 45m Euro and view him as one of their future stars.

How much do you think United would sell Greenwood now if another club came calling? That is the amount Madrid will ask for Rodrygo.

This is how our scouts should operate. Buy those unknown players once once. Anything can happen.

If it was United we will be hearing chants of "who buys an unknown youth for 45m, what experience does he have? There are better experienced players for that amount" grin

Some players are only good when playing for small team or a team with no pressure to win titles. We signed Zaha, Depay, Kagawa, Miki etc and it ended in tears for us. I remember SAF signing Euro 1996 best player Pobosky, signed Veron after he had an excellent world cup, Bartez, Kleberson, Djemba Djemba and a certain Bebe too amongst many others, which also ended in tears for us. Sometimes a player we see as being the best may not neccessarily be the best choice for the team. Once again i support signing Sancho but not for the quoted fee...

Doc out here giving indirect shots grin

Our scouting network is certainly sub-par, from all indications so far. Except they’re focused on getting players for U15 & U18.

To be fair, that shitty business from Madrid. grin

Well, a lot of the clubs buying the so called "talented players with prospects" for outrageous amount of money go soon learn. In 2-3 years time when most of them don't become world beaters and turn out to be Andreas Pereira kind of average, they will be begging the likes of Eibar and Burnley to pay them any amount, so that they can offload them grin

It seems most of these big clubs are doing some kind of "talents race", to discover the next Ronaldo or Messi. So all of them are just buying every young one season wonder player in the market for outrageous amount.
