Since Amaju Pinnick has decided to put all his eggs in the basket of super eagles, the minimum I expect is to win the next afcon and get to quarters of world.

Useless guy. All other African nations are camping their age grade players for upcoming qualifiers and preparing 2020/21 calendar for their senior female teams despite no womens afcon.

NFF - no male u17 or u20 or chan coaches. No female u17 or u20 head coaches. No senior female coach. No technical director (which means we are missing out on fifa forward programme money for development). No head of women's football.

NFF will use covid as excuse for all this, are we the only country that went through this pandemic?! Lets us note that before the pandemic struck, all these technical roles have been vacant!

Let Super eagles just win afcon, I no wan hear story. No afcon = Useless two terms from Pinnick

Lol.... Ikpeba shaa. No VAR to also save the day. It is well. We have moved on but I know that just as history gave us a chance to correct the error of missing the SA 1996 Afcon by seeing that we triumphed at SA 2013 Afcon, I believe history will smile on us again regarding Cameroun. Knocking them out twice now in Afcon 2004 and Afcon 2019 and even disgracing them in the 2018 WCQs and doing so on each occasion while Cameroun wore the tag of African champs hasn't exactly satisfied me. I want to play them in a final and beat them well. grin

A fan's dream. cool

Nigeria vs Cameroon rivalry seems to have died down more recently as Cameroonian football has completely lost its glory days.

When Cameroon was Cameroon, it was always War each time we played.

Another game I will not forget was the Last Qualifying game for the 1990 WC. All we needed was a draw in Yaounde. The job was half done at half time it was still 0-0. The match was not televised and so we had to listen to commentries on Radio Nigeria. This radio commentries were coming out from virtually every apartment like..... grin
At the end of every Cameroonian move and the commentator shouted "over the bar..." You could hear the relief from people.
But unfortunately "It is a goal for Cameroon.......". And that was it. Silence everywhere. angry

Another terrible day for Nigerian football. Same Qualifiers that we lost Sam Okwaraji.

Yes that is so. All the same we cannot deny his "Nigerian-ness". I still have that clip where he was asked if he is British-Nigerian and he said something like,

"No man, not British-Nigerian. I am Nigerian." Lol

We may call them Nigerians, but they aren't, unless their switch is affirmed by FIFA.

You can not be calling someone a Nigerian, someone whom FIFA has on its database as another nationality.

Growing up those days, the sitting room was never big enough for us to celebrate a goal. We usually ran out into the passage way and run back in again grin grin grin grin grin

Some times we even ran out of the house if it was a BIG GOAL. grin grin grin grin

How many can relate grin

I know Saka visited Nigeria a lot growing up so he definitely has a Nigerian passport. He has also spoken of how proud he is of his heritage.

You can not define, who is and who is not a Nigerian.

There are many Nigerians born abroad who identify with their "Nigerianness".

I'm sorry about the Saka part. I didn't know.

Yes, you're right at the bolded, but I wasn't dragging that.

If you go to FIFA now, and ask FIFA what is Saka's nationality, what would FIFA say?

No matter how much Abraham flirts with Nigeria and Nigerians, doesn't change the fact that he's now English. At least until their football career is over.

The way in which Fashanu decamped....

i think if they take it twice as serious as Nwakali their clubs would have no choice than to start letting them stand behind many. Some teams have 4-7 freekicks per game. Imagine a SE player burying 2 outta that number in one game. Well, the names you mention dont really seem convincing, except Nacho.

Well as you said.... Let time tell.

2 per game? grin

Na wa o. The way una dey share FK goals, like FK is easy to score. Even Messi that's a FK demon, he's only scored 8 in 1 season in his career.

That's a FK demon. And you're thinking, and hoping our players will score 6/7 in a season grin

It makes me wish people still had passion for the national team today like before..
Most people these days don't bother about the super eagles until an actual tournament is taking place...

I think what he is trying to say is that,in the context of football,Saka is English not Nigerian...
He may identify as a Nigerian, might even have a Nigerian passport, but since he hasn't played for Nigeria national team yet,he is officially recognized as English!
At least if you Google his name, he would be listed as an Englishman...

Same thing they did with Iwobi before Iwobi played for us. Infact if you go to Transfermrkt, you will find both the Nigerian and English flags attached to him.

Same thing with Saka... Check Saka on Transfermrkt and his full profile shows England and Nigeria so yes even in football terms, he is Anglo-Nigerian and the lad says he is Nigerian so I see no problem here.

And again, Saka hasn't featured for the Three Lions either.

You know, sometimes when you look back at Jay-Jay Okocha's magical moments, you cannot but wonder how he performed such magic.

I just look at People that underrate his qualities and shake my head. In terms of abilities Jay-Jay was on a different planet from other players.

The only teams IMO that are slightly better than us now are Senegal and Algeria. Morocco you might argue man for man are a bit better but team wise they are not as coordinated as us. Egypt is very beatable. The only team we are currently better than but will seriously give us a run for our money are our "bredas" across the borders

Danielnino00:

Egypt are currently not as good as they are before...and their over reliance on Salah isn't helping them at all..that's why I feel they aren't much of a threat at the moment..I may be wrong..
@ bolded, I disagree o... Egypt have produced some quality ballers .. forget say most of Dem didn't play in Europe...
Egyptian clubs can give many clubs in Europe top leagues a run for their money!

Okay, now here is what is straight about this.

Below is Saka's profile on a renowned football site, Transfermrkt. He is Anglo-Nigerian so he can also be called Nigerian.

The second shot is Iwobi's.

Merci.

He hasn't featured for the 3 lions yet,but he has played for their youth team,so internationally,he is English..

You are looking at Nigeria's Number 1 goals runner. I am guilty. Infact Mega guilty of this. As a kid I even ran around the house and even into the streets sometimes just to celebrate a goal before running back into the parlour.

Truth is I still celebrate so passionately today when we score. When we were down against Cameroun in the Afcon 2019 Round of 16, I was so mad. I had excused myself from work for a bit to go watch the game.

Where I was, People were being so negative about our chances after Njie scored 2-1. A guy was even willing to bet against us winning. I challenged the guy and said Nigeria is scoring next and when we do, you promise to be quiet for the rest of the game. He agreed. I then added that "when" we win... (Yes I didn't use "IF". I was sure we will turn it around) that he will have to pay up that bet he put down.

When we equalised, come see my reaction.... I was still at work so I didn't have to run around but I punched the air several times so passionately as if I had bagged a Billion dollars contract. grin My reaction was so fervent. My colleagues were like, "Wow... So you live this team like this?"

Cutting the whole story short... The pessimistic dude didn't pay up. He ran off before the final whistle. grin grin I just let him be... Our victory was enough and my boys helped me shut a pessimist up. Hahahahahahahaha.

The idea most youths have at the back of their minds is that we are playing rubbish and Nigerian players are not good at all.
They are carried away by the European leagues (especially English).
This assumption of their is overrated as Nigerian football is producing it's stars but with time they will see it as new Nigerian players take over the big leagues of Europe
