Oga Pinnick, we also want our Super Falcons in Killer mood. We have falcons players doing well in Europe now. Getting more exposure and getting better. How we don't still have a coach for our girls is just nauseating mehn. And not just having a coach. Have a calendar planned out to get our girls together again for a few games in 2021 ahead of our next major tournament outing. This man sef... Super Eagles Will Be In ‘Killer Mood’ – NFF Boss, Pinnick 1

Gernot Rohr’s side has been evolving over the past few years, and the expectation is that the team would be ready to conquer the continent and make a massive impact at the World Cup in the next couple of years

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, has pointed out that the aim for which the body organised the two international friendly matches in October for the Super Eagles is to get the team back in top shape after almost a year without playing together.

The ultimate goal, however, is to forge the Super Eagles into an excellent unit capable of winning the 2022 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon as well as reaching the quarterfinals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, says the football chief.

The three-time African champions are billed to square up against Ivory Coast and North African giants Tunisia in Austria next month.

These are tune-up games arranged to get the Nigerian team back together ahead of their double-header qualifying ties versus Sierra Leone in November, postponed in March due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

Rohr’s side has not played a game of football since lashing Lesotho 4-2 last November, but confidence in the team is at an all-time high.

Nigeria have one of the youngest, most exciting, and most valuable squads on the continent, thanks to the talents of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze, and Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi, among several others.

And Pinnick is assured that the Super Eagles have the resources to lift the next edition of the AFCON and go beyond the Round of 16 at the World Cup.

“It will be the same youthful, discipline, passionate and patriotic team,” Pinnick told The Sun News of the Super Eagles team Nigerians are to look out for in Austria.

“It is going to be with new players we are trying out now, but our goal is basically to win the Nations Cup.

“We will not only qualify for the World Cup but also surpass our previous records. We are bringing up a very new dynamic great team. That is the motivation for playing two international friendly matches.

“They are in every ramification two big games to put us in match killer mood to the important qualifier away game against Sierra Leone. We will use it to end the year,” he revealed.

Genk’s Cyriel Dessers and Cologne’s Kingsley Ehizibue are expected to join the Super Eagles for the first time in Austria.

At the same time, regulars such as William Troost-Ekong, Oghenekaro Etebo, and Moses Simon should make up the bulk of Rohr’s list.

Shearer hails Iwobi after home debut goal
Bolaji Okunola

Everton winger, Alex Iwobi has hinted he is unbothered for not making coach Carlo Ancelotti’s squad in the English Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur.

Iwobi, whose team walked away with a 0-1 away victory in a tie with Jose Mourinho’s tutored team, was seen flaunting an image involving him and Super Eagles’ teammate, Chidozie Awaziem in a pool side.

Surprisingly, Iwobi a nephew to legendary footballer, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, posted the image on his instagram status few minutes after his side victory.

The post saw him receiving accolades from Awaziem who is presently making wave with Portuguese premier league side, Boavista.

“My guy at Alexanderiwobi,” Awaziem captioned while Iwobi replied with a social media emoji which signifies love.

Meanwhile, fans have been divided on social media over the player’s absence from the registered 18-man squad who silenced the Spurs.

It’s yet unknown if the former Arsenal starlet will make Ancelotti’s squad in next league action against West Bromwich Albion.

Morocco and Senegal should be favorites based on thier players buh both countries seem like underachievers. I agree Egypt are Very Beatable, but thier record in the competition is scary and they've never had top players but they always find a way to win.

Egypt are currently not as good as they are before...and their over reliance on Salah isn't helping them at all..that's why I feel they aren't much of a threat at the moment..I may be wrong..
@ bolded, I disagree o... Egypt have produced some quality ballers .. forget say most of Dem didn't play in Europe...
Egyptian clubs can give many clubs in Europe top leagues a run for their money!

Clubless Super Eagles Ace Shehu Abdullahi Offered To Boavista
owngoalnigeria.com Sep 15, 2020 8:00 AM

Nigeria international defender Shehu Abdullahi has been offered to Portuguese side Boavista as a free player following the end of his stay with Turkish side Bursaspor.

Shehu left the second division side at the end of the season in Turkey after they failed to gain promotion ending his two years stay at the club he joined from Cyprus side Anorthosis Famagusta.

Owngoalnigeria.com gathered that he was offered to the Portuguese team but they are yet to decide on signing him as his role on the pitch isn’t much of a priority to them at the moment.

Comfortable as a defensive midfielder or full back he has represented the senior national team 27 times operating mainly as a right full back. Although coach is the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr insist he can be of use in the midfield.

His search for a new club could see him omitted from the list of players for the upcoming friendly games on the 9th and 13th of October against Côte d’Ivoire and Tunisia respectively in Austria.

Daniel Martins

So Shehu is clubless....I will swear for Rohr if I see his name in the next list embarassed

He said, Rohr has made Nigerians proud of the super eagles, again. That's true.

We failed to qualify for AFCON back to back and were ranked very low. We were in a very bad place.

In that sense, Rohr has done well.

Now, he needs to add a trophy to cement his legacy.
Bro am not castingating Rohr or belittle his achievements but to cement his name in Nigeria football archives he must win afcon or do something great like reaching WC quarter final.

Lol... ChrisKels is more of an Ivorian and Senegalese protagonist. Yes he also admires Morocco.
In case you don't know, Morocco is actually my second favourite African team. It has been so since I read tales and watched many clips of Mustapha Hadji while growing up as a kid. That's why I wanted them to win the title in 2004 especially after Tunisia's win over us in the Semis.
But at same Afcon 2004 shaa, I was against them for just one game. The game we played and lost. Lol... That day vex me ehn. Hahaha but till today, I will always love Moroccan football. They are my next team on the African continent after Nigeria.

And see ehn, Danny, if the circumstances align and ensure that we do meet Cameroon in the final then they better be ready to pay for the "Ojoro" wins of 1988 and the robbery we experienced in 2000. 1984 was a clean win for Cameroun, that generation bad pass us that time. The elders, Kog45 and Icon4s can confirm this. Even Tbaba1234 go tell you say Na so. But 1988 ehn... See ehn...that match still dey vex me. Imagine being annoyed at a game you were not even around to watch. Dem never born me but I dey vex whenever I see clips of that game. The Ojoro was too much abeg. angry

So if we jam Cameroun ehn, they will pay! I know this Nigerian Generation will draw that payment off them. cool

Honestly, the way Pinnick's administration have treated the NFF is disgraceful...
From the 2016 AWCON incident,Omagbemi's sacking, abandoning the team for over a year, sacking Denerby on the eve of an all important Olympic qualifier and appointing the clueless Danjuma, and now leaving them without a coach for almost a year!
It's like they only remember them when a tournament is near and then expect them to perform magic!

Maybe the NFF should create a separate administration for women football to be headed by a woman(ex-international) and be funded directly by the ministry of sports, because I don't understand all this nonsense going on...

I saw the card and I was mad they denied him a climb into 80. His pace is still up there anyway. They just cannot rob him of that. Haaland's card is now a whooping 84 but his pace is still below Osimhen's. It read 85 or so. Sometimes I just feel like these EA Sports guys know what they are doing and sometimes they don't. grin

We have a few good FK takers. Like Iheanacho (he has always been dangerous for us from freekicks), Simon Moses and even Etebo.

Only thing is they don't take it for their clubsides. I hope this season sees one or two given FK responsibilities in games. K.Nwakali, another FK specialist, has been practising and improving very much his FK taking at Huesca training and I hope the club coaches can hand him the opportunity to hit some for them in games when they get a FK chance within his shooting range when he is on-field.

Time will tell. It is really important to have various ways to hurt the opposition.

i think if they take it twice as serious as Nwakali their clubs would have no choice than to start letting them stand behind many. Some teams have 4-7 freekicks per game. Imagine a SE player burying 2 outta that number in one game. Well, the names you mention dont really seem convincing, except Nacho.

Well as you said.... Let time tell.

Egypt? Nope!
With or without Salah, they are beatable..

Algeria don't have too many top players but they are very organised, that makes them deadly! ..
Senegal are also another elite team with a lot of top players...na badluck Dy follow them around...

And you are right, we need to sort out our set piece issue...

I also feel it's time Rohr made a decision on his choice in midfield.. We can't continue with Ndidi-Etebo midfield pairing...it doesn't always work!
And Iwobi needs serious competition...

We need the midfield to be more creative!!

In all sincerity,we have what it takes to win the next AFCON! .. If Rohr can't deliver it, I'm afraid that would be the end for him...

Maybe. But they can still spring surprises in Afcon mode.

As for Senegal..... Head to head, if we jam, our wingers alone will get a pk or two vs their hard tackling defence. I don't think they'll best our midfield tho. They may be better on the counter tho.

That setpiece issue, na big decider. It can kill hopes of leading opponents in injury time. Well we experienced it vs Mahrez.

We have good fk takers but they need to start getting numbers with it at club level to make it sweeter an advantage. The midfield truly needs a backup to Etebo. I believe someone should be there. Afcon can be a funny ground. A team will just tackle and injure a key player, that's the end!!!

Onazi is fresh in mind. Youre right. Ifdai mention Agu, Ogu.... Lemme just look front
