Yes, done.
It's all down to what you want. There are various departments under the faculty of Public Health (in UI). However, the best choice depends on your first degree and what you intend to achieve with it.

I'll suggest you go for something you're passionate about. Anyway, Health Policy and Management (hpm) seems like a good option.

Which do you think I'll easily qualify for without having to go through a one year PGD.

It depends on three things.

1. If your Undergraduate is core Health Sciences or sought after public health related courses Disciplines like Medicine, Nursing, Medical Lab, Human Nutrition, Pharmacy, Medical Lab, Demography and Statistics etc.

2. You have up to 5yrs working experience after getting (1).

3. You are ready to work up North, like North East.

. Please which school has PhD in Biostatistics in Nigeria? This thread is to bring ideas, information, advice, discussion, direction and achieving a common goal for prospective public health professionals.

Firstly, I'm starting out my career in public health. That's 110% decided. I have a bachelor's degree in the sciences and a relatively sound knowledge of research.

Public Health is an enormous discipline which is open to everyone irrespective of their originating academic background, towards achieving a safe and planned public health.

In Nigeria, public health is mostly available at a higher Cadre of learning, starting from the masters degree setup, so I have found out. FUTO however has programme for undergrads.

The university of Ibadan, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), University of Lagos are example of schools with Public Health Department which award degrees in Public Health. Entry requirements vary between these schools, so be sure to check the admission requirements of these schools to guide you in your decision making

As I'm starting out my own career, I will not have all the knowledge to pass along, therefore I urge experienced public health professionals operating in Nigeria and elsewhere to post valuable contributions to aid prospective, entry level, mid-career and top-level public health professionals here[/quote]

A degree in public health brings opportunity in a limitless field, especially in health institutions, both locally, nationally, regionally and internationally as Health Administrators/Managers, Program Directors, Epidemiologist, Public Health statisticians, Environmental Health Educators, EH sanitary officers, all generally in health ministries and parastatals. Other health professionals have also found positions in Occupational Health and safety department of most multinational and transnational corporations.

I have MSc in Public Health and still no job. I will appreciate if you can assist with CONNECTION.

Hello

Can you do what I will write down below;

1. You must be ready to volunteer with local, state and international NGO, most volunteer roles are usually unpaid but you will get experience and position yourself for better opportunities.

Try and reach out to the public health care facilities in your neighborhood, introduce yourself, tell them you are ready to volunteer with some of the NGO, that are always using their facilities for program.
Also, network with church, mosques whenever they are planning medical outreach.

2. Be ready to be active on social media, create contents about the diseases that are killing people such as Influenza/pneumonia, diarrhea, and tuberculosis.

3. Public Health is more of passion then profit.

4. Follow this Nairaland link for volunteering opportunities
