Guy don't go there. I am Yoruba and proud. I know the UK and USA well. The US is merely capitalism without heart, soul or compassion.

UK white folks are, by a Country mile, the most tolerant and liberal in the world. Take that to the bank.

Whereas, in comparison, the USA is very racist towards ordinary black folks with many key institutions in the USA, like her Police force, inherently and institutionally racist.

If you quantify everything in terms of your Nigerian outlook, i.e copious wealth for a few in elite professional and public/political position, then of course you'd shout USA.

If however you are talking about a dignified and satisfactory existence for every individual, regardless of background, colour, sex, religion or talent, /specialist skill/education, then the UK is miles ahead of the USA.

Talk when the USA has anything like the NHS or argue when the USA can give all unemployed folks a living allowance and even pay their rent.

You don't judge a Country by how it treats it privileved class. It is Nigerians who do that because of our national background. You judge a nation by how best it serves the needs of all her citizens. Simple.

Well, you're quite right tho.

Yorubas are silent achievers. It's a pity many Yorubas do not know what they have in terms of achievement --- factually the best home and abroad.

Aji sebi Yoruba laari Yoruba oni sebi baba enikankan.
But what a pity for our chestbeating brothers ---- labalaba to fe sebi eye kole se ise eye.

YORUBA LAGBA. Yoruba Loga. Yoruba ti mu oye yi je na, iwo npapa iwo nna.

Indeed. We don't chestbeat or make redundant noise, driven by inferiority complex, like IPOBians.

Yet I think Yorubas can do more and encourage each other to greater heights. This begins with us familiarizing ourselves with the greatness of Yorubas home and abroad.

We still have Yorubas who go online to ignorantly sing the praises of Igbos because they have been brainwashed by the empty chestbeating insecure Igbos, forever envious of the Yorubas, flood cyberspace with.

A lot of Yorubas need to educate themselves and stop wallowing in ignorance. We do not brag and remain modest but the factual truth is that no other Nigerian or African ethnic group is individually, not nationally I clarify, close to Yorubas across all aspect of human endeavours from entertainment to literature, professional excellence, culture, religious sophistication/tolerance, artistic expression, business/trading acumen, diasporan greatness etal.

We don't need to beat hairy chest and brag about like some spoilt brats do, because over here (SW Yoruba) success is normal.

Unlike some people that open countless threads to massage their frail ego and feed their inferiority complex for as little as class captain position in Somalia.

Yes, and what has been their contributions to the development of our country.

I'm not pessimistic but those with this privilege need not be celebrated here if they have no contributions to the progress and development of this country

Nigeria contributed nothing to them.
I'm sure those ppl were born and bred in the UK.

It's us here that need to change things.
What is ur contribution?

Yorobers don't brag but they created a thread about their achievements and then proceeds to brag about how they don't brag.

Classic display of bad belle mixed with inferiority complex.

When you're naturally talented and gifted yet able to remain modest, and refrain from chestbeating, then it is easy for people to undervalue your worth and achievements. That is the case with Yorubas. We are humble and don't 'loud it' so people don't really appreciate what we are about and how far ahead of others we are.

When you are insecure and very envious of others you will amplify even the most modest achievement because you care more about proclaiming superiority over others, and proving a point to them, than anything else. This is the case with Igbos and the reason they overhypeand over-celebrate anything and everything their fellow Igbos do. However miniscule and mundane.

it's a well known fact that Yoruba people dominate UK while the igbos dominate the US... congrats to them, I like the fact that Nigerian parents in the diaspora still use Nigerian names for their kids, would have expected them to have British names

The bolded is very common on Twitter gaann... You see Yoruba folks allowing outsiders to talk trash about us in the name of forming liberal and diplomacy... Thats why I like nairaland where we give it to them back hot , the folks who actually defend Yoruba on Twitter are in the minority and always get over powered, how I wish more Yoruba nairalanders would join Twitter, I can provided names of accounts to follow so they can rebuff their nonsense when they start.
