Tolu is not a striker that will entertain you much with fancy legwork or skills but he is a cold blooded finisher. A very good goal poacher.

He is your targetman kind of striker like a Giroud for instance and does have the ability to turn quickly in the box and poke one in. Hold up play is decent and uses his massive size pretty good in duels. His aerial prowess is also very good as he scored a couple of headers taking advantage of his super height of 1.97m.

He really bullied the Defenders in Latvia and also got the better of Dele Alampasu when he came up against Dele. They had no answer to his size mixed with a deceptive form of quickness.

hmmmmm, I wish him all the best. You know Koln won't create much chances I hope he'll be able to bury the little he will get

Kelly my man, a fit Balogun would start ahead of Semi and Uduokhai and proper tournament don't rule out Omeruo.Awaziem truly average defender but proved me wronged with his performance in the last Afcon.

...but funny enough I don't rate Ekong.

Apart from Jordan,i don't see Kevin, Uduokhai getting it easy with our present defenders

I don't rate Ekong too. The guy seems jittery at times, and he clears the ball too much. His game is very one dimensional. World beating defenders have the ability to play the ball out from the back, contribute heavily in attack, initiate counter attacks with smart long balls, etc. Ekong simply doesn't have that in his arsenal. Lots of fun games today...

-Already the Iwobi vs Ajayi battle is ongoing. Iwobi on the bench as already reported by some and Ajayi in the first XI. West Brom up by 1 goal.

- In the Championship, we will have the battle of the Dele-Bashiru brothers. Both are Nigerian international young prospects.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru (19) of Sheffield Wednesday and his elder bro, Tom Dele-Bashiru (21) of Watford.

- In the Bundesliga, It would be Ehizibue (Koln) vs Akpoguma (Hoffenheim). Tolu Arokodare might also be involved.

- Still in the Bundesliga, another All-Nigerian battle likely to take place is Ujah of Union Berlin vs Bazee and Uduokhai of Augsburg.

- Our Naija Robben Chukwueze will also be in action in La Liga.

- Our Naija Roadrunner, Zaidu will be there with Porto in Portugal.

- In France, Henry, Maja and Kalu will be getting set to do battle against their foes.

These and a lot more coming your way, ladies and Gents. Enjoy the weekend.

Like Chrisooblog said... "It's a full schedule today".....as weekend football always are. wink

What is it with you people and wanting everybody to score?

He's a defender for crying out loud. His job is to defend, keep clean sheets.

Ederson has assists, Neuer doesn't, does that make Ederson better than Neuer since he contributes goals to his team?

Evaluate a defender by his primary duty, defending. How good does he defend. And not how good he passes the ball or contribute in attack.

I've never seen anywhere where a forward is rated by his ability to help out his team defensively. It's always the other way around.

Easy with the obsession, abeg. Attacking returns should be a bonus, not a yardstick.

Mascherano played 7½ years for Barça and scored only one goal, which was a pk Messi dashed him since he was leaving. But because he scored one goal would anyone say he's not good enough?

Make I rest......

@bolded... Spoken like a true Elder that observes keenly. Omeruo has been quite reliable in tournaments. Was good at the WC and was awesome at Afcon 2019.

'Not saying Omeruo is guaranteed a spot every now and then but he is a solid defender in the GWG and one of our battle hardened lieutenants who proved to be our best CB even at our last major tournament being the Afcon. But the rise of Semi Ajayi has seen competition really thicken and now the rise of the "German-Nigerian lads" will make it even thicker.

I understand Omeruo is in the next list. wink

As for you not rating Ekong, well... Every man has his taste. But Ekong is a deserved starter in our team now.

And you are right... Among the lads coming in, Jordan will likely be a starter alongside Ekong. But the likes of Uduokhai and Akpoguma will do some serious battle with Omeruo and Awaziem for the backup spots. Even Leon Balogun is not left out for now even though his days are now numbered in the team.
Also not forgetting that Tosin Adarabioyo could be added with time.

Makes the battle even more interesting. smiley

I thought Omeruo was injured

For Mark Noble to even be forced to openly criticize the Westham board openly for selling Diangana shows that he's good

One thing you need to understand is that football has evolved. We are no more in the era of defenders just whooping the ball about. Why do you think most teams started playing from the back rather than the keeper whooping the ball up field.
I think you should take your time and watch arsenal and see how it matters so much for a defender to have ball playing ability. That is why some on this thread were reiterating that Ndidi should improve his passings.
And no, this doesn't mean I don't rate Ekong but the guy you quoted definitely has a point.

The guy gave his opinion I don't know why you are attacking him about it

Besides I don't see where he said Ekong should score

Throw the whole West Brom away, dead team. The FA can just relegate them right now
