I detected two ways to follow Christ in the new testament; the teachings by Christ himself recorded in the accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. And the teachings of the apostle Paul in his epistles. Jesus teachings on the way to God is summed up in Matt 5-7, there, he touched on love for God and neighbour, the golden rule, how to pray (the lords prayer), adultery, qualities that would characterise true christians like, being a light and salt in the world. He pronounced blessed those who are, spiritualy concious, peaceful, facing persecution and all that. He discouraged anxiety and undue stress to make money in this world and infered that putting kingdom interest first would bring greater riches. The Apostle Paul in his letters came up with a lot of do's and don't that conflicts with Christ's teachings like, making it a sin to forsake the gathering of the brethren, tithes, offerings, relegating women to the backseat in church affairs and advising the church to stay seperate from others.

It means in whatever you do always imagine Christ is there with you (he is actually) will he be happy with you or will he frown at you

when the pastors leading preach only what the so called Christians want to hear.

I dont fail and will never continue to fail to attend churches that preach the truth even when it hurts.

Christ, i think showed us a way, the way to be Godly. Christ was always around people of all sorts, the pharisees, sadducees, samaritans, tax collectors, prostitutes, rich and poor alike and was often found in the temple. Why would the apostle Paul warn christians to stay away from these people and places? I do know that all churches based their beliefs and doctrines not on Christ but on the doctrines of the apostle Paul. If you want to follow Christ, accept the rest of the world as one big family, like jesus, never seclude yourself to your religion or denomination, do not discriminate those you think are bad. God is everywhere. God is in everyone. God is in everything. Salvation is not in your religion, it is in your lifestyle, the people who get attracted to the light in you, who taste the salt in you, who experienced your love and selflessness matters a lot. Being Christlike is being above religion and sentiment. Being Christlike means attaining enlightenment. But being Christlike is difficult.

Being Christ like means imitating Christ always.

To be Christlike means to do and act like Christ.

It is very unwise of you to think any body who doesn't agree with your concoted BS is a liar , cheat , debtor or hater , you notice I omitted the rest two things you mentioned , cos its pure crap ...
The world has morals , Christianity is not responsible for good behaviours ,cos all of you are not even Azikiwe like let alone Christ . Even before the white men came to brainwash people we've always had ethics ,.even more than what we see today , your pastor won't tell you that !!

As far as am concerned, 99% of Christians don't behave like Christ. Nairaland Christians are worst, then you see Pentecostal rascals. Take a look around, the same Christians that will be quick to shout Christ like, they live by his rules, they 100% do things opposite to what he said. Then are re they Christ like?

Present day morality, with its crude focus upon observable behavior rather than heart attitude, is hopelessly primitive and out of touch with reality.

Doing what Jesus Christ did on Earth is Christlike.

Jesus said:

"But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.
Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ." Matthew 23:8,10

Christ alone is Master, and to be like Him, we must keep His Words.

there is nothing like grace and no sitting on the fence. Christ was specific in his ways and rules. What we practice today is ignore Christ ways because we know what we ll put ourselves into then use grace to invade His rules and ways. Brother if Christians are Christ like then they should follow his ways 100% which is spelt out in English and very understandable. I come in peace

Don't mind Christians

They like to judge people who don't believe what they believe even when the so-called unbelievers have good morals than their fellow Christians

Can't they just understand that some people are not Christians because they are not just interested?

This doesn't mean they are devils or evil. They don't just believe in what is written in the Bible and they have the right not to believe. Simple.

Jesus Christ is the one to follow in all things of course, not Paul or any man.
