Dear brethren, I find it quite amusing that what majority practice as Christianity today is an abberation from what Christ intended.

Christ laid the foundation of Christianity through his way of life. His disciples were first called Christians in Antioch as the people saw that they behaved like Christ.

Now what were the ways of Christ?

The most significant of the ways of Christ was LOVE.

Christ was an embodiment of love. His message to us as Christians was to live a life of Love irrespective of oppositions or transgressions against us.

In Matt 5:44, he gave the order;
"But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."

Paul in his message to the Romans wrote
In Romans 12:14;
"Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse."

Prov 25: 21 and 22;
"If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat;
And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;
For you will heap burning coals on his head,
And the Lord will reward you."

In John 13: 33-35 Christ said;
"Little children, I am with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

It is even recorded in the same bible that God does not want the death of sinners, but that they should repent. Exek18:23

Christ taught perseverance and endurance with long suffering and unconditional forgiveness.
In Matthew 18:22, Jesus says that church members should forgive each other "seventy times seven times" a number that symbolizes boundlessness.

I.e There should be no limit to when you should forgive anyone.

I must categorically state it that any christian who prays for his/her enemy to die is only allowing himself to do the devil's work. For it is the joy of the devil to see such person perish in hellfire.

Seeing Christians of today praying at the top of their voices for the death of their enemies with numerous prayer points is nothing less than commiting sin in the place of worship.

Sometimes you hear them praying for the death of demons. This is only a lie. No demon can die. They can only be casted out. This is evidenced in the bible. Christ didn't pray for any demon to die. The disciples didn't pray for any demon to die. They only casted them out of the people who were carrying them.

All these shouts of DIE! DIE! DIE! we hear in the places of worship are not Christ like. That is not Christianity. It is only paganism!

Nigerian christians should stop hiding the wickedness of their hearts under the garment of fake Christian teachings conceived by men, but should rather seek the truth from the word of God which has been given to all men freely.

Christians of today have a wrong assumption that their Lives should be hassle free. This is a very wrong assumption.
For christ (in John 16:33) told us emphatically;

"In this world you shall face many tribulations, but be of good cheer, for ye have overcome the world."

Christ himself faced many tribulations when on Earth. He never prayed that his enemies should die.
Even on the cross he still said the words: "Father forgive them...."

Why should you who claim to be his follower now pray that your enemies should die?

Christians should rather put the efforts with which they pray such hateful prayers into praying that these their "enemies" should accept Christ and become saved. As that is the will of God.

It is my prayer that Christians will seek the truth and live their lives according to the will and plan of God.

May God help us all

Very good sir. You have quoted a Bible verse to support your prayer points. "We wrestle not against flesh but against powers and principalities"
That is Eph 6:12

Now let me endevour to quote the entire surrounding verses so that we understand what that statement made by Paul was about.

EPH 6
Verse 11.
"Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

That is the entire surrounding verses. I hope you can see clearly what Paul was trying to say. He didn't imply you prayed for death of any power. He didn't pray such prayers. And No where in the bible was such prayers recorded.
Stop picking single bible verses and giving them your own man made interpretations to suit your flesh.
Powers do not die. Spirits do not die. Stop being decieved.

Take up the whole armor of God, that ye may be stand the Wiles of the devil.
Let your feet be shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace.

The word of God is truth and it gives life.

If we want to live by our own understanding it is our choice. But let us not decieve ourselves that we are christians while we do not follow Christ but flesh.

For you are not a Christian by going to church but by being christlike.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life."

Yes, God chose to kill whosoever he wishes (especially those who go against his law), a number of this can be seen in the old testament. The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and the destruction of human race with flood in the time of Noah, being very good examples.

Yet, all these changed when God gave us his son to die for our sins.

The coming of Christ, his life and death, plus the birth of Christianity by the first apostles urshered in a new dispensation.

God does not wish that sinners should die, but that they should be saved.

I clearly understand you sir. That is the reason why this thread was created. So that you can know it as a fact that you are not christlike in your ways, so definately not a Christian.

For to be a Christian is not to just bear the names: Jude, Andrew or John. But to be christlike

Did you not hear it is Written that "there is a time to love and a time to hate; a time to pick up stones and a time to drop them; a time to kill and a time to heal"?

There is a time for everything.

Let them pray in the way and manner that's ok from their own reasoning {Matthew 17:5} and see who seals such prayer, whether it's the same AMEN (Jesus Christ) whom they're rejecting his words {Revelations 3:14} or another Jesus from God knows where! smiley

I believe you are quoting Ecc 3. Which was words of wisdom written in the bible by an unknown author (who is most likely Solomon).

Now the question is; are you a follower of Solomon or a follower of CHRIST?
Do not forget that There are lots of teachings in the bible that are not for Christians. Please never forget that. Or are you practicing AN EYE FOR AN EYE

It is written in Matt 5: 43-48

And I quote;

43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your father in heaven.

This is a clear teaching from Christ himself who we follow. Love your Enemies.

For It is written in Corinthians 2:5 (KJV): That our faith should not stand in the wisdom of man but in the power of God. Only One is worthy of our trust and our steadfast Faith and that is God Almighty, the Creator of the Heavens and Earth, the Great I AM, who is everything we will ever need in every circumstance of life.

Therefore we cannot decide to be wavering in faith, deciding to be GOOD today and BAD tomorrow just because Ecclesiastes chapter 3 said "there is a time for everything under the sun"

May God open his word in your heart and give more understanding.
God bless you.

You lack knowledge of God and understanding else you would never have said this.

You would have known that God is intolerant of evil and therefore empowered us to destroy all snakes and scorpions and all wickednesses in high and low places.

You would have known that Christ was teaching guilty men "how they are to be beyond the condemnation of Law". For The Law condemns every wrong and evil work.

And if you had truly known all these, you would have been wise and kept silent and rather watch to see how The Lord shall Judge these issues for He has afore-given us all His Judgements.

Smiles. I do not claim to have full knowledge of
God, as I am a continuously growing student of his word

Let's go into the bible. For that is the light unto our path.

There was an account in the bible book of Luke 9:51-55

51"As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. 52 And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him; 53 but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem. 54 When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?” 55 But Jesus turned and rebuked them. 56 Then he and his disciples went to another village.

This is self explanatory.

Christ is our model. We are CHRISTIANS. We were first called Christians in Antioch because we were seen to be CHRIST LIKE in nature.

If you are practicing what Christ rebuked. U are not Christ like.

I need not say more.
May the Lord himself teach his word and expose all the work of darkness lurking in the church.
Amen.
