Or they will lay armbush for the victim by outside his/her gate on a SUNDAY morning (mostly) when no or little traffic, bundle the victim away and demand for ransom. At least in Delta State this is how they mostly penetrate personal security. Armoured door doesn't help with this modus operandi.

So instead of armoured door, see-through fence and gate and CCTV where I can case my surroundings from the comfort of my home for suspicious movement and suspiciously parked cars is the way to go for me.

Investing in armoured door in a family home is for most times a wrong solution. Bandits rarely shoot through doors. They shoot through windows.

I don't think there is a fixed span, the load above and the depth of the beam, method of construction (precast or in-situ) would determine the span. let me wait for the engineers

The rebars of any beam depends on the load it is supporting ( beam / slab) , the span of the beam as well as the depth of the beam.

So i dont think there's a defined distance for beam rebar.

I do not dispute sir but most houses tend to waste when the owners ain't there anymore (gone to the beyond).
And such structures will not glorify nature anymore.
We have a lot of them here in Sango at Ibadan, they've been lacking maintenance since the owners aren't there no more.

I will suggest brevity in our residential designs, this class of structure wastes the most.

They could be in form of sliding, roller shutter and so on.
This is an innovation we have to inculcate in Nigeria.

6 meters is the longest I heard of. Though it could get longer depending on the type of load it's bearing or as designed by a structural engineer.

In some Environment, you can forget a Generator or expensive bike INSIDE your compound/premises that has a three coach fence and nothng more and it will there there for Weeks, untouched, because everyone around you are in such CLASS of not stealing such 'minor' things from their neighbours

In another environment, if you forget ordinary Pliers or your child left his side-winder scooter outside in DAYTIME, it will be gone before you come donstairs to pick it up for lock-up in the shed.
They will steal ANYTHING of value, no matter how small.
With such ENVIRONMENT, sealing-out prying eyes is of utmost importance otherwise, they would use a Ladder to climb your 10ft Fence, if it does not have an Electric Shock topping.

I dont like High Fences but in one of my build, the fence of Kudje Prison will bow, looking at the spikes under the Electric topper of the fence.
If you can escape the Electric shock (some thieves come really prepared), the Spikes will impale the thieves for sure.
They even came to steal used Planks, while we were still building, something l would have given then for free, when we are done using them.

The best and old materials is KEVLER its a synthetic fiber materials.
And others like acrylic, polycarbonate, steel (of high thickness) and Africa locally made “ayeeta” don't ask me this oo

So not only steel can used as bulletproof materials
But the best bulletproof is ALMIGHTY GOD PROTECTION

I actually sell this and I personally have these on all windows and doors. These are temporary fixtures for me because the batteries do run out and then they start giving false alarms. Nothing beats a wired in setup or Smart devices and that is what I'm installing in my estate. But they're better than nothing and are very effective.
