The hashtag #23SeptemberCleanSA is trending on Twitter on Tuesday in South Africa, with the PutSouthAfricansFirst movement plans to march to the Nigerian and Zimbabwean embassies on Wednesday to demand that foreign nationals be deported.

The group behind the call to protest has been identified as having been largely responsible for a spike in xenophobic rhetoric being shared on social media over the last few months.

They said that the following issues will be raised in their list of demands, and said that they want to “deport the immigrants”.

- Human trafficking and sex slavery syndicates;
- Railway infrastructure looting;
- Drug peddling;
- Violent crimes including the scourge of farm murders;
- Hijacking buildings and houses for criminal purposes.

The Nigerian Union SA (Nusa) president Adetola Olubajo said that the organisation has called for Nigerians to steer clear of the unpredictable protesters, and said that xenophobia has no place in South Africa.

"We support fighting crime. But then I see the march only targets one set of people. You can’t paint everyone with the same brush. I don’t think [protesters] are genuine in saying they are against crime if they only march against Nigerians.”

“We’ve issued a warning to Nigerians to give the protesters space – there is potential some miscreants could use the march as an excuse to attack,” he said.

Another reason why they're hated across the world...

Black South Africans have been a problem to that country since the days of Adam. The only luck they have is that whites settled and developed their country’s infrastructure. The blacks are so lazy and always exhibit a victim mentality thereby blaming everyone for their problems except themselves.

not at all but i also know no Nigerian can get involved in any of those vices without the active backing and investment of senior SA politicians/government officials. When you kick out the Nigerians, your people will be recruited then you’ll kick yourselves out aka civil war. Your politicians (ANC) are the problem not foreigners

I'm certain there'll be a large police contagion given the high levels of displeasure with Nigerians. Everyone in SA is predicting this thing is gonna turn violent. Nigerians should really stay in their homes tomorrow, but then again it's only the launch of the campaign, they want Nigerians completely out.

There are south Africans that commit crimes too, and the issue of drugs they always talk about, its not as if Nigerians are force feeding them with drugs in SA, if there's no demand, there won't be supply.

Do you understand that these drugs are targeted at young people who are not matured enough to make the decisions you are demanding of them? Do you know that Nigerians make young ladies drug-dependent so they can tie them to prostitution and human trafficking?

These allegations don't only come from South Africa.

Like there's no barbarism in Nigeria.

For 10 years South Africans were not attacking Nigerians until they got fed up. With Kenya's economy becoming more attractive it's only a matter of time before you get targeted because you're rushing there in droves, already there's growing animosity. Remember Kenyans are not shy of even killing each other based on tribal lines - think post-elections violence. You'll be next.

Okay goodnite, but don't get me wrong, there's a large Nigerian criminal element in SA that needs to be dealt with. But often I see Nigerians wanna shutdown that discussion and begin accusing others of being lazy and suffering from victim mentality. That solves nothing, instead it heightens the tensions.
