An armed group of black men who began patrolling Minneapolis during the unrest in the wake of George Floyd's death have been praised by city officials.

The Minnesota Freedom Fighters was formed in late May to help protect small businesses from violence, fires and looting.

A group of about two dozen men gathered and have patrolled the streets since, carrying AR-15s and Glocks and wearing tactical vests and bandannas.

They have been welcomed by the city, who called their actions 'commendable'.

Minneapolis: Residents armed with AR-15s and wearing bullet proof vests are taking matters into their own hands across America, coming out in force to defend businesses and stop widespread vandalism by looters.

Until they'll form a cult unit and end up terrorizing those neighbourhoods. This is a shame on the state police because it means they are not up to their jobs as security officers. Please this is balderdash. What if more groups of civilians in states across the federation establish their own units of security outfits And a simple malice erupts into a gun war??
This is all shade of wrong

If they are allowed in Nigeria,, then they would soon use the same gun to begin to intimidate harmless citizens and to dispossess them of their cash and belongings.

They should just allow Nigerians to own and carry guns.

All these 'da eran da eran' raping, kidnapping and macheteing people everywhere will have sense.

Imagine the "lawlessness" in one of the most "civilized" country in the world.

Imagine the first grade military gears they have access to shocked

Too much freedom can lead to anarchy and breakdown of law and order.

I have a Ak-47, you have AR-15s, M16, Glocks-26, smith-wesson in your home/compound/neighborhood including your neighbors.

Bro, myself and my team will think thrice before invading your compound or Estate.

This is not safe. I still believe the police should do more, rather than civilians carrying arms.

In Nigeria, (for whatever reason I don't know), to own a licensed ordinary 6-rounds revolver pistol is a big taboo..
Not even to own the cọck-and-shoot double-barrel hunting guns sef.. A big taboo.

A big taboo.

I know, you can have licence for single/double barrel years back, but was stopped when present administration came to office.

Just responding to your comments about some people terrorising others IF Nigerians are allowed to own guns.

Protesters, black lives matter activists and 2nd amendment supporters marching.

Virginia Senator Amanda Chase, who is running for Governor as a Republican, was the keynote guest at the rally. She is pictured arriving with her gun in July, 2020.

You know what we are, Mr Explorers?

We are nothing but natural firefighters. We have a fire brigade approach to just about everything.

Now, the security situation in Nigeria has gone haywire and everyone suddenly remembers the need for people to have firearms in their hands.

What have Nigerians been doing all these years?

Now, you see people drawing comparisons with the US, a country that has always had these things firmly entrenched in its constitution. Is there anything that says Nigerians can't have that?

Could it be a lack of farsightedness on the part of Nigerians- people and leadership alike? The debate surrounding guns has always been treated like a taboo in Nigeria and I don't see the need for that since those things are just like any other tool out there- hammers, screwdrivers, cutlasses etc.

That's just what I think.

Is not even a must we have guns in our possession if the government can protect us.

One of the responsibilities of the government, protect lives and properties.

But now, there's no security anywhere.

Kidnappers, armed robbers, herdsmen will attack people on the road.

They will still come and attack them in their homes and nothing is happening.

We move on so easily as if killing, raping, kidnapping, robbery are norms and part of us.

Saw the thread of abakaliki lady that was hacked to death by fulani herdsmen. She's somebody's sister, daughter or wife/mother.

So sad, if you can't protect citizens, let them protect themselves.
