I want to take this car 94 535i away from home. My issues are,
(1) it has been underused for way too long, I'm not sure if it wouldn't give me regular issues. Though the owner claims it is fine. But I know it doesn't undergo regular servicing, maintenance and all that.
(2) I need information on how much the body work, bumper and fender will cost me.
(3) Is there a possibility of an exterior upgrade, especially in the area of the bumper and fender?

NB: Its going to be my first car.

For a first car, no. You'd be better off just giving me the money. I'd pray for you at least. smiley

You say it like it's a bad thing. The Guilia is absolutely beautiful. The M4/M3...not so much.

The grill on that green car is absolutely hideous. Maybe it serves to improve air flow into the engine, but it is ugly

Old car, would have visible and hidden issues. Only good if you're an enthusiast that loves restoration as a project and not a first timer

4x4 light has stayed on on my bmw x3. The car has disappointed me a few times when I needed the AWD. So I watched a video on how to work on the AWD actuator. I ordered the motor gear and did the change with the help of a local mechanic. The old one is bad. My 4*4 light is still on though but the 4WD works fine now. I have tested it.

You can do it. I was driving a fx35 before I changed to BMW x3. I was able to do a lot on my own with the help of YouTube videos, what I read online and of course i visited BMW parts market in Mushin. For the prices you need, visit the parts market. This is a very old model 5 series. The tokunbo parts will be cheap.

Good one.

I am in need a functional brainbox for my E46.

Can you recommend someone who sells them?

Hmm.. you will have to take your car to the market where they sell brain box for bmw in Lagos because they'll have to test to see the one that works. The brainbox thing can be annoying if your car is far away and they have to be buying and returning because it doesn't work. Even when you buy the exact model, you still have to test several times to get the one that works.

I'm glad to have come across this thread:
I've not owned a car before, but I'm in love with BMW especially 321!, is it wise for me to buy this as my first car?

At what range can I get it from tuks or naija used?

How is the maintenance, difficult or not difficulty to maintain as a starter.

Don't buy a bmw as your first car except you have plenty money. If you must buy, don't buy nigerian used and if you buy tk, don't use for too long before you sell.

very true. When my bmw arrived, it was low on power steering fluid. I asked around for the type of fluid to use. Everyone said dexron. However, car manual warned never to use dexron. But recommended a particular type of fluid. Bmw users also told me to get ready for power steering rack issues. I went to ladipo and insisted for the recommended fluid. Lo and behold, it was available. Dexron was 2500. Recommended was 5500. This is more than 1yr after topping off. No issues. No leakage. Maintenance with right part is key.

Hello guys

I have been looking forward to getting my first car, either a BMW X3 or X5 2004 - 2007.

But I am afraid after reading all the things people have been writing about this brand.

I need your advice on these:

1. Is the car good for a first time car owner? I am in my late twenties.

2. Is it expensive to maintain?

3. Is the car generally problematic?

4. How much can get me any of the models I mentioned?

I love the car, design, interiors, etc. If you think that I should not go for it, which other car will you recommend that is in the same category with it? I don't want any car that is mostly driven by g-guys.

Thank you guys.

buy toks will be my recommendation, I’ll also tell to buy any of them if that’s what you want, enjoy yourself. The parts are available and fuel consumption is a subjective matter. If tomorrow you don’t enjoy the car you can sell or dash out and go to the next vehicle of your choice but it’ll always be in your records that you had so and so beemer.

Ps, the only vehicle I’ll never advise you to touch with a long pole is the land rover freelander Evil car

Buy the 2005 x5. Don't buy the x3, It isn't cheap in maintenance. The 2005 x5 is cheaper than the rx330 and ml350 in maintenance yet drives better than both cars.
This is an advice from an old user not hearsay.
