Please schools should stop celebrating birthdays in school, please, biko. I use God beg you.

I sent my child to school to learn and not to celebrate birthdays, I came back from work one day and saw this play station 4 in a carton, I asked them who own. they said my daughter classmates celebrated her birthday and shared these gift to them.

I quickly ask them to reparkage the gift and take it back to the school, before I return from work the next day.

MY REASON IS THIS: all fingers are not equal, when it is my daughter's birthday they would be expecting a gift of equal amount.

The parent may be rich and I am not, they give my child what I can't afford for her which is a recipe for greed. she should be contented with what I can afford,

These her young mind should be moulded early to adapt to reality.

These private schools are encouraging these evil act, it may affect the child tommorow.

A lot of idiot commenting rubbish who don’t even have a girlfriend, let alone be in a relationship, engaged, married, having kids and raising them. I think you are great father. Aside from your point of view I think it’s absolutely wrong, if it were to be a cake I can understand but something of great value as a gift from a fellow pupil might put your kid in a tight position. This is exactly how a friend of mine younger sister who is 16yrs got pregnant for a 17yrs old boy in her class.

A man returned a gift you say it is poverty mentality.

You have taken a wrong decision. Play station will not make child to be dull neither will the celebrant parent expect the same from you. You may need to give another reason why you reject the gift.

What you did was wrong. The person gave the gift out of her goodwill and did not write to you to reciprocate in like sum when it's your daughters turn. If and when its her turn to celebrate, simply do what you can and if you can't, forget about it.

Now what you don't know is the gift has been given and the parents believe it has gone round, so returning it is just depriving your daughter.

I remember in a school I was working. Some parents celebrate their children's birthday with customized gift and two steps cake while some just do the little they can and nobody ever complained or compared. And if you like don't celebrate, no parents will know whether it's your child's bufday. Only the school will know and they won't penalize you for it.

Nothing extraordinary here. You are just trying to create a mountain out of a mole angry. Since you returned the gift that's fine, but even going as far as labeling it as "evil", please shut up.

Your point is understood but I wouldn't take the gift back if I were you.

It is not by force to buy expensive gifts when it's your child's turn to celebrate. Just buy what you can afford. That's all.

It's not by force to give the child that shared PS4 gift. If your coworker buys Mercedes does that mean you should buy your own?

Just accept the gift or give someone else, this faux morality is very irritating.

That's even if this story is true.

Your IQ is quite low, no offence, u think like you indebted to someone, your child is lucky to meet such class of people in life, accepting gifts doesn't mean u are indebted to someone.

Tomorrow ur children will ended up going to commercial centres to play it, thereby mingles up with gangs,

Assuming is one of those electronic learning gadget , that's how u would still return it...Poverty minded, you can't afford it today doesn't mean you can't afford it tomorrow, and if by tomorrow, God bless u with good cash and u end up buying for the junior ones , if I be that your present child, I will not forgive you..
Train your child in a way they should grow , not staring their mindset towards poverty
... That's the best for birthday gift , cos most parents and schools authority will not allow food items for birthday gift.

Oga it's a gift. A gift is a gift. Stop being insecure and accept it as what it is- a gift. Which one is "a recipe for greed?" If they gift you a brand new car for your birthday will you return it? Please you people should stop being extra abeg. Life is not hard.

You are wrong.. The op has made his intention know that he can't afford d same gift when it is time for his daughter's birthday.. Truly he has point there, the parents of pupils who shared d expensive gift will be expecting something more sophisticate in return.

Don't accept what u can't return as favor especially when it is a do me I do you parole.

You can't teach your child how to be content while appreciating nice gifts?

If it was 1million naira they gave each of them, would you have sent it back? Clown.
