Hi, good morning to you. I was in their office in Zone 6 last week. The Gateman told me in privy that they recently concluded recruitment in the office but the UBEC teachers recruitment is still on. Maybe he just wanted me to go... I can't tell but I believe what he said as regards conclusion of recruitment.

Please do anyone have any information on Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) ?

Please on which grade level would a master degree holder be place as a non academic staff in federal university and how much is the current monthly take home with all allowances?

@SeedofAbraham,
Let me correct some things you mentioned up there.
There's No job security in state service. Ambode laid off many workers that were employed during fashola's tenure.
Sanwo olu laid off some from Ambode's tenure. I know two guys in my area that lost their State Govt job when Ambode came in.

Multinational companies can lay off their staff if need be! If Guinness is multinational, then I have a cousin who was laid off recently. He was in a management position.

My advice: Go to where there's career growth! Where you can really explore the skills and qualities you have and your pay will increase in about a year(continuously) and you will be valued.

Note: My cousin started from GT. He must have saved up enough to start something!

Use your tongue to count your teeth.

Top of the morning to you!
good morning bro, let me state the reason why, in 2014 fashola did a massive recruitment, in 2016 ambode did recruitment for some ministries, but in all of these, none of the governors confirmed their employment through the state head of service
before their tenure expired.

So they were still on probation, that's the major reason, if they had been confirmed permanent staff of the state public service, they can go to court and sue, so far they meet the 2 years probation period requirement and were confirmed.

Why not go for lecturing? Your salary should be within the range of 100k as level 9 non academic, high taxes have reduced the net income of federal workers.

Good morning Nairalanders,

I've been having sleepless night recently as I've been confused in decision making due to the fact that I'm not well experienced about Job matters.

I presently got an offer at a State Public Service with GL 8 Salary Scale of 63k+ monthly (though it's poor) but with a rest assured constant Promotion every 3 years subject to success in Promotion Exercise. There's also hope that in the next 18 years, I'll get to the Directorate levels (GL 15 - 17) where the Pay Structure seems better with Jumbo rise compared to the poor salary structure of GL 7 - 14... Meaning that I'll have to endure till then before enjoyment start coming. Please note that in addition to Promotion every 3 years, this State Public Service don't owe workers salary as they pay in due time as we all know that Public Service has Job Security. Also, I hope by God's Grace that I become a Permanent Secretary if I decide to choose this path while enduring the Salary (I can switch to Federal Parastatals if the Job Offer comes up later though).

On the other hand, I'm about to get a Full time Staff offer from a Multinational Company (Headquarter is based in the US) with more than 120k Salary for a start. There's Career growth and the chance of living comfortably & enjoying life is cool compared to the State Public Service in terms of Salary. We all know that Private Organisations can decide to lay off workers at any time as there's no Job Security. Also, I don't know if Multinational Companies usually lay off only Contract Staff or they can decide to lay off Permanent Staff as well... Though, the Multinational Company have a Pension Scheme for their Staff & didn't lay off workers during this COVID-19 Pandemic as they were operating during the lockdown since they provide essential services.

I wasn't born & brought up with a Silver Spoon and I never pray to struggle in life henceforth as Poverty must die. I'm a Second Class Upper graduate with proven abilities and outstanding performance as I'm a Problem Solver.

I need the assistance of experienced Nairalanders as your advice and point of views with detailed explanations will be highly appreciated.

I understand you completely.

I have someone who had a full staff job in a multinational logistic company, I.e the logistic arm of B.A.T. the pay an an entry level was not that bad, he was living life, but the bottle neck is that he works from 8am till at least 7PM, though official closing time is 5pm, but even at closing time, pressures from all angles will emerge and he must stay to complete it, else, he will find himself to be blamed. Though there's overtime.

Basic salary =53, 000
Overtime which was converted to Weekly allowances due to the fact that he is likely to b in the office till 7Pm= 2k X 4weeks = 8000
Miscellaneous 9K

Total 70k monthly.

Pension is 10k monthly. Its separate from this 70k.

BUT

This guy has no time for himself, always getting headaches in the office, pressures, and the management are devil's uncles, they easily lay off staff, and once they hear you bought a car or built a house or acquired something large, they will send auditors to you. You may even be transferred out to another place. Lots of his colleagues were fired!!!!

Even to go for Job interviews, he couldn't, he became dogged and began to lie with sickness before they will grant him leave. Even when his relation was doing wedding, he was suppose to be s best man, but couldn't because work didnt let him. He was misersble.

Note that this company's offices where a Graduate trainee can be fixed in are Lagos, Abuja, PHC, Enugu, Ibadan (other nationwide offices are for non graduates) with that meagre pay as salary.

So his state began a massive recruitment and this young guy applied and got the offer. After deduction, what is left of him now is 57k, but now has time for other things, he even traveled to Abuja recently and he constantly kept on traveling. He is free now.

Bottom Line...

If you know what you want, go for it. The multinational coy will sap away your youthfulness and most times, people leave such places only when sacked. Promotion is either if another is sacked, resigned or dead. Meaning there is no fix scale for promotion. Salary barely increases and they don't use steps as government coys do. You can easily further your edu and obtain your masters, or even be looking for better govt. agencies.

So bro, choose wisely and don't let your future be marred with the present.

Apply for leave of absence from the State Public Service without pay, and take the multinational job, if anything happens that isn’t okay at the multinational end u can go back to the State and continue at the level u stopped, don’t miss the chance of starting a better life while ur still active and strong and also do proper background check of the pressures of the work
I just saw a reply from another nairalander about the stress and it’s true, Pray let God guide

If you are seeking for federal government job be it FCSC or FEDERAL AGENCIES and you are not based in Abuja, you might find it abit difficult to get one. Daily, things are happening across govt Offices. Even if you have someone assisting you in Abuja for example, your presence will as well be crucial.
