If truly what the practice up north is not the true principle of lslam , how come your total allegiance is to the caliphate up north?.
Are you doing it out of cowardice or your learning to be a hypocrites too?
LOL. Who told you there's allegiance to the caliphate up north? You think an average yoruba Muslim gives a hoot about your perception of his beliefs? Most notable churches in Nigeria are headed by Yourba pastors - does that mean every other Christians in Nigeria have a total allegiance to the Christians in SW? Religion is an individual thing and only yorubas seem to be at home with that fact. That explains why there's a relative religious peace in the region.

Whoever knew a day like ds would come in ds great country where marriage btw a 'yoruba muslim' and an igbo person would be a misnomer, and therefore (breaking) news!
Is ds how great igbo's disgust for 'Yoruba/Yoruba Muslim' has become?

It's very obvious you guys didn't read the full post. She never mentioned "Yoruba Muslim" in the post. She only said her husband is Yoruba and was a Muslim when they met... You guys be bringing unnecessary hatred and confusion in here. That nomenclature was culled by the Op

Misterdhee1:
How's an average northerner a standard for Islam? Anyone can decide to observe five daily prayers - yes, it's a must for Muslims, but Islam itself is a meant to promote a unique total way of life. Most of the ills I mentioned earlier are norms in Northern Nigeria. You can deny it as much as you want to, or even try to play them down, but they are facts and are not in sync with Islamic tenets. Most of the hatred for Islam are based on the perception of Islamic practice up north. The larger percentage of Northern Muslims do not make Islam attractive to non-believers due to their archaic, conservative ways. If praying five times daily and believing in the Holy prophet do not make you a better person all round, then you can't lay claim to being a true Muslim. Islam can be practiced without necessarily being close-minded to societal standards.
Are north Nigerians the only group of Muslims?

What about Yemen, Pakistan, Somalia and Iraq?

Sad about what Onyeka said about her husband (if it's true.) At her level, one expects a higher level of reasoning. Marrying an Igbo Christian may not have been any different. Igbos even distinguish between Catholics and Anglicans abi? Male ego knows no tribe or religion.

What's this meaningless tag of Yoruba Muslim by the way? angry Like it or not, Yorubas are too deeply interwoven to care about separatist connotations. Wey Honorable Patrick sef? I need to borrow some big grammer. grin

You're not being sensible. Read up my previous replies and see why these comparisons are at best silly. Religion is a personal thing. And mind you, without "America's political hypocrisy," none of the countries you mentioned above were not better than Nigeria. But you are probably too shallow to read beyond what you are spoonfed with.

Lol. Those islamic countries that operate on a theocracy will disagree with you.

Could you perhaps disagree with sharia Law?

Could you also perhaps disagree with Muhammad Bala and Umar Farouq's arrest?

Application of sharia law is meant to be subjective. And I have and will never agree with such arrests because neither particularly aligns with the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet. But like I said earlier, religion is a personal thing and I will be the last person to want to be put in a fix because of other people's faiths.

Sharia Law is exclusively for anyone who practices Islam and lives in a Islamic society. And it's to guide their actions and inactions - so condoling isn't the ideal word to use..

You think in those islamic societies, minority religions and minority beliefs don't exist?

Somali Christians exist.

Pakistani Christians exist.

Arab Christians exist.

But of course when muslims are the majority, no minority has any rights.

When muslims are the minority, they humble themselves and ask for rights.

Have you ever seen a Christian Somali taken to a sharia court? If that happens, it's wrong and should be condemned. Sharia Law is exclusively for Muslims.

How many of them can even dare to be open about their belief?

How many atheists can dare to be open?

Where is the tolerance?

That was the basis of my last argument with the other guy. Islam doesn't encourage hostility towards non-Muslims. And Life is the most valuable thing on earth. The Holy Prophet was a lover of peace, and tolerance. He repeatedly pursued that in many instances. But yeah, it's true, Muslim leaders need to do more..

We're tired of these lies. Just look at islamic countries and it's laws against minority beliefs and apostates.

Where is the outrage?

What is the average peaceful and tolerant Muslims doing about the lack of tolerance?

Where is the outrage at Muhammed and Umar's arrest? The silence shows y'all are complicit.

Remember that Nigeria is a democracy, but a bunch of extremists are currently subverting democracy. The peaceful majority are irrelevant. They're always irrelevant.
It appears Sharia legislation is operating parallel to secular law.

Y'all need to stop lying to the world.

Sharia Law is practiced in Nigeria only by Northern Muslims and it's strictly used in matters pertaining Muslims.. If the people do not see anything wrong in the practise for whatever reason, why should an outsider be fazed by that? The adherents of the law are conversant with what is expected of them, and choosing to subject themselves to the whims of the laws is totally up to them. Whether myself or yourself is okay with the laws doesn't matter. Same way the opinions of Nigerians living in Nigeria do not matter in the Black Lives Matter Movement in the States.

I thought I told you I do not support his continued detention. Moroever, given the peculiarities up north, he was best protected from public attacks. Would you go to Israel to reside and then insult the religious beliefs of the Jewish and expect to be well-received? Northern Nigeria is largely monolithic - it's only sensible for anyone with different beliefs from those of the majority to tread softly while respecting existing beliefs. That's where education comes in though

You said sharia is used in matters pertaining to Muslims so I'm asking why Muhammed has been arrested? If you don't agree, other 'peaceful' Muslims do cos all I hear is crickets.

Continue . Your real feelings are coming through. You're slyly admitting Muhammed deserves to be imprisoned. Muslims living in the west should never ever complain about islamophobia then. After all, they're only a minority and should just shut up.

So the majority belief shouldn't respect the minorities among them? Must they oppress them to the extend they dare not go public with their lack of belief?

Where is the tolerance? There are minority beliefs in muslim majority counties but do they care?

He wasn't arrested by Sharia basis. A petition was submitted to the Police about his continuous attempts to spur religious violence because of his insensitive posts on social media. It wasn't about Sharia.

As per your other views, I can't help that. I have repeatedly stated that I am very liberal when it comes to religious views - and really don't give a hoot about what someone else chooses to believe. And I would never support most of the lifestyle choices up north that are tied to Islam.. Notwithstanding, you can't force people to change their ways if they don't want see anything wrong with that. Racists won't change because of protests, same as extremists won't back down because of outcries. Religion breeds radicality when not checkmated with love for humanity
