Oil money is tiny indeed I guess your not from Niger Delta that's why you can say this boldly. Though you have a point, the youths need to be smart and stop blaming but find solutions. One of those solutions is acknowledging that we're not heading in the desired direction as a Nation with this kind of leaders, thus we need to change them. Leaders that raise taxes without useful projects that all can see, leaders that slash salaries and delay payments for months
We must acknowledge that with better leaders we'll be far better today with people-oriented policies. So stop covering up the fact. It will help.
NIGERIA WILL BE GREAT AGAIN. GOD BLESS US.

My good friend, fellow Nigerian. Nigeria’s oil money is very Tiny (FACT)!

Reason: population - 200million

It's a big shame bro. If only these youths realised the potential that Nigeria holds for them, even with all its flaws.

Nigeria is projected to become the THIRD most populous nation on earth after China and India by 2050.

To people who can reason, that means one thing and one thing alone. MARKET.

The 3rd largest consumer market on earth.

This country will be a MAGNET for investors from all over the world, in the coming years.

The present influx of Chinese, Indians, and others is just the beginning.

Soon it will be a flood.

These youths can position themselves to take advantage of this country's great promise if only they could shed their bitterness and unrealistic expectations.

In India nobody talks about politicians, or cares much what the govt is doing or not doing, even though there is serious govt corruption there. People there just get on with business.

In Nigeria, if some of these youths have not woken up and cursed Buhari or Lai Mohammed, or some other ethnic group, their day is not complete. It's unfortunate. Hope they can change and become more...independent.
illiteracy is Nigeria's problem. We have hear this new 1000 times, but look where the country is today

One useless youth just posted a thread claiming ''Nigeria is now the most dangerous place on earth.''

Someone needs to send his ass to Syria, Yemen, or Afghanistan.

This is how you people end up as slaves in Libya and Lebanon, eating dog food thrown at you by racist Arabs and getting forced to suck their nuts, as is happening with Nigerians there as we speak.

And then you will go on Youtube to make videos begging the Nigerian govt to send you planes to return home to the ''most dangerous country on earth''.

Useless self-haters. Go and cross the Sahara desert like your fellow dumb Nigerian youths, even as the Chinese, Indians and Lebanese are rushing into this same country to make big money starting from nothing.

Is it not in this same Nigeria that INNOSON started by selling spare parts, to form the biggest black-owned vehicle manufacturing company on the face of the earth?

Is it not in this same Nigeria that your mates are forming startups that are attracting millions of dollars in investment funds from Silicon Valley and elsewhere?

Go to Yaba and see what even your juniors are doing, simply by using their brains and being positive.

In this same Nigeria there are people who own BLOGS that earn them millions of naira each month.

Blogs that you can start for FREE online.

Useless youths.

In my day, we had no internet, no mobile phones, no smartphones, nothing.

For every business deal we had to get on a danfo or Molue, or bus and travel, HOPING to meet our business partner on desk. If he wasn't, we'd get on the bus and return home. Sometimes these were journeys across the country. Why? because nothing like phone. That was in the 1990s!!! Just yesterday!

There was nothing like DSTV. It was NTA or nothing. And they shut down at 11pm.

Sometimes 10.

Nothing like supporting Man U, Chelsea, or Arsenal.

Who dash you that one?

A good night in was sitting home to watch Village Headmaster, with Sisi Clara and Amebo.

Or 'Masquerade', with Chief Zebrudaya, alias 4.30.

Yet we never hated the country the way you useless youths do today.

Today you can start an entire business on your smartphone in your pyjamas, in your bedroom.

You can go on Youtube and learn ANY skill or business you want, free of charge.

There's a Lagos girl who learnt on Youtube how to bake exotic cakes, and now has a flourishing business making millions of naira a month. She started by baking the cakes herself, then she trained some girls to do it for her. Now all she does is post images on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram of her cakes. She can't even handle all the orders. She's overwhelmed.

Meanwhile, some of her lazy friends are working as oloshos and blaming the Nigerian government for their 'predicament'.

I laugh when I hear you youths complaining about ''insecurity'', and ''Fulani herdsmen''.

Today, 'insecurity' means something you read in the newspapers that happened to people in some remote village in Plateau state, or in faraway Borno state.

In my day, 'insecurity' lived with us directly at home, with armed robbers all over the place. Coming to your house. Stopping you on the street to shoot you and seize your car. Streets were deserted after 8pm.

THAT is what we call insecurity.

Yet we never hated Nigeria and called it a ''shiithole'', ''zoo'', and such vile names.

So, keep on hating your fatherland.

Go and cross the Sahara and become a slave, washing plates or sucking nuts like your fellow dullards.

Awon useless.

God will bless you for this wonderful comment. The OP keep saying Indians, Chinese and Lebanese are tapping from Nigeria thinking everyone here is dumb.

We knew what this people are doing here, many of them are here to help the evil leaders to launder their loot, illegal mining, to steal from the economy via cheap labor. We read every where around last year or so when one Lebanese kicked his pregnant staff belly, the woman didn't lost the baby alone, she almost lost her life.

What happened to the culprit? Nothing happen to him, he moved out of Nigeria with the help of Nigeria Police, escape justice with the help of people in power and yet you claimed Nigeria is not the most dangerous place on earth.

Op article is stark truth. However some experiences I’ve had in recent years makes me believe that part of Nigeria’s problem is her openness. By this I mean our immigration and nationality processes. We don’t have a grasp of population size; people are not registered at birth, deaths are not registered etc. We cant find out who is Nigerian and who is not.

I’ve met Rwandans that were affected directly by the pogrom that took part there. None of these people hated Rwanda even then. I met these people in London, they were refugees at the time. Some had no family back in Rwanda because Hoto’s wiped them out. I've in fact not met people in all my time alive that hate their nation. NEVER. I find that only so-called Nigerians express such hate for their nation. I spent half my life in Nigeria, half of it abroad. My family has experienced the worst Nigeria can offer yet none of us hate Nigeria. I can tell you right now that no so-called Nigerian youth risking life crossing the Med has had a more difficult time in Nigeria than we have. But I love Nigeria. It is one of the best places to live. I've met the kindest, most honest people in my life in Nigeria. I have traveled throughout Europe, several Caribbean nations, some Asian ones and some South American ones.

Why did I start by stating, ‘experiences I’ve had in recent years makes me believe that part of Nigeria’s problem is her openness’?

I say this, and I have stated this before on Niaraland, I discovered much later that a couple of very close friends that I attended school with in Nigeria, visited their homes, have them come visit our house and stay a few days, partied with, played football etc, were not in fact Nigerians after all. One I found out was Cameroonian and the other one was from Reunion. They grew up in Nigeria. Of course, schooling in Nigeria, there were always people you sort of thought were Nigerians but turned out they were not. But discovering, years later, that my two close friends were not actually Nigerians was eye opening. They were not the ones that told me this, some other Nigerian friends told me in London during some reminiscing about our experiences at School in Nigeria.

So, I guess I’m trying to say that the reason that it appears only Nigerians seem to hate their country is because many of these people may not be actually Nigerian in origin. We just assume that they are because they live or lived in Nigeria and grew up with us and around us.

In the West, if someone becomes a personality, becomes and influencer for example. In no time, interested parties could obtain records on where and when they were born. We as Nigerian cannot. There are vlogers that claim they are Nigerians, their contents are often negative towards Nigeria and positive towards other West African nations. I can say confidently that no interested Nigerian party could obtain irrefutable information on the true Nationality of these individuals as endorsed by birth certificate or some form of national registration recording their birth in Nigeria or by Nigerian parents.

The problem I have with so-called good and loving Nigerians is their attempt to compare oranges with apples. Hutu are majority in Rwanda while Tutsi are minority. However, the Tutsi gained upper hand due to the vices of colonial powers. The Hutu carried out the pogrom on Tutsi and eventually lost out in the saga due to foreign powers rest of interest. As it stands now in Rwanda, the former refugees are now in power and had the lead in all departmental sections in Rwanda. Why would the former refugee not be happy in Rwanda when he/she found him/her self in corridor of power after years of refugee in foreign land? You simply cannot equate what took place in Rwanda to Nigeria when the goons who perpetrated the pogrom are now in power and never were refugees during the war that followed the pogrom. Nigeria/Biafra fought a bitter war which its outcome has not being balanced. I have never celebrated the birth of Nigeria since 1967 and will not.

But you should try and understand majority of the youth are from lowly family, that even with Creative ideas they still lack the required capital to do much with it.
America and Europe are financially successful countries today, because the elites in does country invested in the youth back in the days rather than hoard Capital's in Bank.

Even though Nigeria is nothing to write home about, sometimes some of all these reports are far from the truth.. The other day I was seeing a news that Lagos is the 2nd most dangerous city to live in and I was like, "most dangerous in what way exactly?" How can you tell me that Lagos is more dangerous than cities in Syria, Yemen, Libya etc.?? Or does dangerous have another meaning again?

Syria, Yermen, Libya? You’re too modest. Is Lagos more dangerous than many US cities? How many South American cities is Lagos more dangerous than? In fact how many equally bustling metropolises in this world is Lagos more dangerous?

In terms of negative publicity Nigeria is the victim of deliberate smear campaigns. Well meaning Nigerians need to counter these negative portrayals wherever they find them in the world wide media.
