Rossinky:Good morning sir, with all due respect sir, you're the dumbest Nigerian I've ever encountered. Your thirst for mediocrity is appealing, just because you have life easy due to few big people you know doesn't mean life's good for every other person. STOP RUBBING YOUR SUCCESS ON PEOPLE'S FACE, it doesn't always end well... Shalom. |

God will bless you for this wonderful comment. The OP keep saying Indians, Chinese and Lebanese are tapping from Nigeria thinking everyone here is dumb. We knew what this people are doing here, many of them are here to help the evil leaders to launder their loot, illegal mining, to steal from the economy via cheap labor. We read every where around last year or so when one Lebanese kicked his pregnant staff belly, the woman didn't lost the baby alone, she almost lost her life. What happened to the culprit? Nothing happen to him, he moved out of Nigeria with the help of Nigeria Police, escape justice with the help of people in power and yet you claimed Nigeria is not the most dangerous place on earth. stonemasonn:I'd say 10m! That sums it all up. OP thinks his generation was better, but buhari has long called them out before the Op was born probably. There's no hope for this country if they don't restructure or divide and let everyone go back to develop their zones. We will continue running around in circles, recycling old leaders who have perfected the art of stealing public funds and call it wealth of experience and knowledge. |

Op article is stark truth. However some experiences I’ve had in recent years makes me believe that part of Nigeria’s problem is her openness. By this I mean our immigration and nationality processes. We don’t have a grasp of population size; people are not registered at birth, deaths are not registered etc. We cant find out who is Nigerian and who is not. I’ve met Rwandans that were affected directly by the pogrom that took part there. None of these people hated Rwanda even then. I met these people in London, they were refugees at the time. Some had no family back in Rwanda because Hoto’s wiped them out. I've in fact not met people in all my time alive that hate their nation. NEVER. I find that only so-called Nigerians express such hate for their nation. I spent half my life in Nigeria, half of it abroad. My family has experienced the worst Nigeria can offer yet none of us hate Nigeria. I can tell you right now that no so-called Nigerian youth risking life crossing the Med has had a more difficult time in Nigeria than we have. But I love Nigeria. It is one of the best places to live. I've met the kindest, most honest people in my life in Nigeria. I have traveled throughout Europe, several Caribbean nations, some Asian ones and some South American ones. Why did I start by stating, ‘experiences I’ve had in recent years makes me believe that part of Nigeria’s problem is her openness’? I say this, and I have stated this before on Niaraland, I discovered much later that a couple of very close friends that I attended school with in Nigeria, visited their homes, have them come visit our house and stay a few days, partied with, played football etc, were not in fact Nigerians after all. One I found out was Cameroonian and the other one was from Reunion. They grew up in Nigeria. Of course, schooling in Nigeria, there were always people you sort of thought were Nigerians but turned out they were not. But discovering, years later, that my two close friends were not actually Nigerians was eye opening. They were not the ones that told me this, some other Nigerian friends told me in London during some reminiscing about our experiences at School in Nigeria. So, I guess I’m trying to say that the reason that it appears only Nigerians seem to hate their country is because many of these people may not be actually Nigerian in origin. We just assume that they are because they live or lived in Nigeria and grew up with us and around us. In the West, if someone becomes a personality, becomes and influencer for example. In no time, interested parties could obtain records on where and when they were born. We as Nigerian cannot. There are vlogers that claim they are Nigerians, their contents are often negative towards Nigeria and positive towards other West African nations. I can say confidently that no interested Nigerian party could obtain irrefutable information on the true Nationality of these individuals as endorsed by birth certificate or some form of national registration recording their birth in Nigeria or by Nigerian parents. |

SUFFERInSMILIIN:Ibedun from this response, you can believe this poster is not a Nigerian but from SA. See, he can't even talk like a Nigerian, he can't even write like one . Ignore him please. The Op and his Gang who won't encourage their giovernment to be a truly federal government is your problem. We know people who talk like him and what they stand for, rejecting every and any move to have a truly federal and egalitarian state which the citizens could be proud of. A country that wants to progress can never elect a buhari into office, no matter how politically expedient. |

ibedun:Misappropriation as has been seen repeatedly is the reason why oil money seem small. What about the days of oil boom? We were not always 200m in popu. Brings us back to leadership issues. Is it the laziness of youths that prevented the nation from building sustainable diversified sources of revenue during the oil boom years? |

Litmus:The problem I have with so-called good and loving Nigerians is their attempt to compare oranges with apples. Hutu are majority in Rwanda while Tutsi are minority. However, the Tutsi gained upper hand due to the vices of colonial powers. The Hutu carried out the pogrom on Tutsi and eventually lost out in the saga due to foreign powers rest of interest. As it stands now in Rwanda, the former refugees are now in power and had the lead in all departmental sections in Rwanda. Why would the former refugee not be happy in Rwanda when he/she found him/her self in corridor of power after years of refugee in foreign land? You simply cannot equate what took place in Rwanda to Nigeria when the goons who perpetrated the pogrom are now in power and never were refugees during the war that followed the pogrom. Nigeria/Biafra fought a bitter war which its outcome has not being balanced. I have never celebrated the birth of Nigeria since 1967 and will not. |

I don't think things are quite easy the way you put it. Of course, there are some opportunists that came from inheriting large capitals. But you should try and understand majority of the youth are from lowly family, that even with Creative ideas they still lack the required capital to do much with it. America and Europe are financially successful countries today, because the elites in does country invested in the youth back in the days rather than hoard Capital's in Bank. |

Mr. OP thanks for wasting my time having to read your nonsense. It seems you're one of which comes from these opportunistic families reason why you feel because you can afford a leister Gen to ease your business/being able to at the tip of your finger fund some certain business needs is applicable to all Nigerians. Down here where I manage a business, we end up spending a whooping 6,000 for diesel from the companies purse at the detriment of the staffs just to ensure customers satisfaction, one who is well inclined with the Nigerian society can relate. Do you kmow what pain we go through at every offices just to get one or two documents signed cause we are not one of the big faces? Next you wake to talk about Nigerians, talk about how much we are extorted by the police on the road, what a petty trader goes through just to get his goods to the market then you tell me how encouraging it is for others to do same. |

Even though Nigeria is nothing to write home about, sometimes some of all these reports are far from the truth.. The other day I was seeing a news that Lagos is the 2nd most dangerous city to live in and I was like, "most dangerous in what way exactly?" How can you tell me that Lagos is more dangerous than cities in Syria, Yemen, Libya etc.?? Or does dangerous have another meaning again? |
| Re: Why Are So Many Nigerian Youths So Useless? by Litmus: 2:55pm On Sep 29, 2020 |
Perfectbeing:Syria, Yermen, Libya? You’re too modest. Is Lagos more dangerous than many US cities? How many South American cities is Lagos more dangerous than? In fact how many equally bustling metropolises in this world is Lagos more dangerous? In terms of negative publicity Nigeria is the victim of deliberate smear campaigns. Well meaning Nigerians need to counter these negative portrayals wherever they find them in the world wide media. |

I have been reading your post for some time and with this particular post, it shows one thing that you know the truth but pretends when called out. Honestly @op you simply know nothing. Like I tell people, bad education is worse than no education. My people look at the trash from op forming woke. The problem in this country is purely leadership. With right leaders, everything will fall in place. madridguy: |

I guess your not from Niger Delta that's why you can say this boldly. Though you have a point, the youths need to be smart and stop blaming but find solutions. One of those solutions is acknowledging that we're not heading in the desired direction as a Nation with this kind of leaders, thus we need to change them. Leaders that raise taxes without useful projects that all can see, leaders that slash salaries and delay payments for months
