I intend publishing some books on basic phonics for nursery and primary pupils. I had already typed the and visited someone on my street for arranging the work before printing.
I was asked to pay 3k to format each work before any other thing. The charges are as follows:

1. formatting 3k each
2. back cover 1k each
3. ISBN no. 7k each
4. printing #400 each. About 70 pages

I'm printing 6 different books but I have a strong feeling that I'm being cheated as I don't have any experience regarding how much these things cost. please I need to know if I'm being cheated. Please help me out. Thank you.

I think you are being cheated.

1k is the actual price for everything. That way, it won't look like you are being cheated.

I'm is alternate for I am, so it being in this statement don't add up,have never seen such combo before

Try and visit other stores so you can compare the prices and try as much as you can to negotiate because they might want to exploit you with exorbitant prices seeing that you're new to publishing.

I think you are being cheated because the publisher I use gives me @450 per copy for kinders and 500 for the pry classes. Now if a printout is 400, how much do you intend to sell? coupled with other expenses.

Which area is that? I guess the area is another contributing factor to the high cost as there may not be much printing press there. I'll advise you go to shomolu; a Haven of printing press. The cost will not be this high.

You're the one who is wrong here. "I'm" is very correct because its an abbreviated form of "1am" while 'am' is not cos it's just a verb and grammatically wrong when used in that context.

The proper use of I'm and Am has been dealt with so much, anyone who fancies himself as educated and still can't realize when to use which, should go back for a re-education.

Note: "I'm" is the short form of "I am"
So, instead of saying "I am coming", you could say, "I'm coming".....not "am coming"

Someone wanted answers and irrelevant things like " I'm and Am" became an issue of discussion. Mchewwww!!!

Op why is it that you did not obtain 5 to 6 quotations.. compare the prices.. take the cheapest quote?....

I think this thread is irrelevant too.. because u should have known these..it's not rocket science

Conducting a business doesn't mean that your client must live in the same street.. go out there and get quotations....

I'm not in Lagos. I stay in Benin. please I really want to know if you paid for formatting. They asked me to pay 3k each for formatting the work. Did you make any such payment??
