Hello Great Investors and happy new month.

Those Banking with GTBANK and received interest this month from their savings Account.

Did you notice any drastic reduction in interest rate?

A savings account with an opening and closing Balance of 7,500,000 and got an interest of 7,250?

what is happening?

That's why I don't agree with that lie that Nigerians like to spread that they are innovative. Nigerians are not innovative at all. Nigerian are dumb and stupid and the current state of the country is a reflection of that.

India had the same problem with us. Cars were too expensive. Most indians couldn't afford to use them for personal use nor could they afford to pay the expensive fares when they are used as taxis. So what did they do? They invented keke. Today, that single innovation of keke has created a few billion dollar companies in India, hundreds of thousands of DIRECT jobs in India and millions more of indirect jobs in related industries (eg steel, microfinance industries) and billions of dollars in exports and foreign exchange earnings. Nigerians were busy blaming and calling on the government, and calling themselves innovative and smart.

Savings account Interest rate is 1.15% that is 10% of MPR. I'm sure you will receive lesser next month as the rate was applied around 22nd September. Earlier in September it was 1.25%. So that 1.25% would have contributed to this amount you received.

People still invest in it because they have no much option especially in terms of security of their funds.

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by tbaby534(f): 8:23am On Oct 01, 2020
In my opinion, comparing both currency is unfair. 1usd is about 0.1% of minimum wage, whilst 450 naira is about 22% of minimum wage. This is a like a case of saying since 1ml water of water is 1g, then 10ml of liquid lead is equal to 10g.

9jatriot:
I really do not understand how people missed the context and started asking why not compare $1 to 1 naira, as if that was the context of the discussion.

For example, the temperature of an ice block is 0' degree centigrade or 32 degree Fahrenheit, 1kg is equal to 2.2 pounds, while 1km/p is equal to 0.62 mph, same way 1USD is equal to around 450 naira. Does it make sense to say, why not compare 1 kilometer to 1 mile? or 0 degree centigrade to 0 degree Fahrenheit?
What I understood from that writer is that, even though in theory, 1 USD is around 450 naira, that the things you can buy with that 450 naira in Nigeria is more than what you can buy with 1 USD in the US.

What those who are saying compare 1USD to 1 naira are effectively saying is that. if they happen to be driving a car that is calibrated with mph in a country that uses kilometer per hour, and the police pull you over for driving over speeding at 100 Km/hr, you can start telling the police man that he is wrong because you are using miles per hour in you speedometer and it is correctly showing you 62 miles per hour. You can tell him that 1KM/hr should be equated to 1 mph.

The writer did not say Nigeria is better the developed countries
He did not say Nigeria is the best country to be

All the people who condemned the article left the topic of discussion and began to speak of which country was more developed, which in this case was not the subject of discussion.
How people missed the context in which that article was written baffles me.

lts the new CBN policy on savings accounts and all banks are to comply. I'm surprised people are not even talking about it. lt was reduced to 1.25% last month and further reduced to 1.15% this month. They are trying to make the idea of saving money for interest unattractive. lts so sad cause a lot of people would make wrong investment choices based on this.

At some point in time and considering the amount involved and the type of investor, rate alone is not what determines investment window to put your money in.

They should advertise. If you didn't say it, I wouldn't even know. Now that I've known, how or where do I even buy it? That's the problem. Maybe, it cost an arm and a leg.

You don't need advertisement to sell keke.
No be sweet or condom you want sell.
It's a commercial vehicle, people really don't care if it was made in hell or heaven.
They just want it cheap, probably cheaper than what's in the market and they want reliability too.
So if it's got these, there are keke distributors littered all over Nigeria for the local manufacturer to go pitch his products to.
If they like it,they will buy it and add to their inventory to sell and make profit.
If they don't,open shop like them and sell directly too like them so you can reach the masses directly.
Nobody will buy your keke because it's made in Nigeria(its plain stupid to even want people to buy it for that reason).
So enough of this their patriotic marketing they keep trying to sell, innoson and his likes angry

You are on point. I just thought for people not to be buying it something must be wrong somewhere. Maybe they don't know it, Not durable or it's too expensive. Because 98% of people buying Keke, do so strictly for business not fashion or status thing.

You can never move from a rice importer to producing your own rice without major hiccups....... The learning curve is a physical law which all Nigerians have to appreciate and our leaders too should encourage Nigerians to patronize made in Nigeria to enable the manufacturers leap over the learning curve.....

You can never compete with Thailand and India in Rice which their people have farmed for generations and built a world class industry around it in just 10 years.....

The Govt need to beg Nigerians to eat local rice or source local alternative while we work at self reliance........... They also need to practice what they preach,it's not when a government official that want to bury his mother in the village is using federal might to bring in Thai rice for the ceremony........ What kind of message can such an official be passing to the general populace

I really don't understand this learning curve thing. So if USA want to start producing rice, they need to start doing something called learning curve by eating rice filled with stones for some time?

For christ sake all the information are out there to produce rice. I think government is really not supporting. Most of these farmers can't afford the standard rice mill and they can't access affordable loan.

Learning curve is shorter these days because you do not need to re-invent the wheel. Study what others have done and adapt to yours.
