This is the most stupid write up I have read this year. Know matter how rich you are, you come from somewhere. You must protect your fathers or ancestors legacy. Its just like saying because I have money, I should go go kwara state and buy like 5000 hectares of land, and say I want to leave Igbo land and claim that am now from kwara state. If everybody keeps abandoning there fathers properties or accestral lands, even you talking would not have anywhere to go. Lots of people taking don't understand the importance of ancestral lands, because you live in Lagos doesn't mean you from Lagos, understand that please.

Myself, I have often say it, all properties I have in my village would be shared among by boys only, my female daughters would be married away, so they got know business in ancestral lands or lands and houses in my village. But other properties in cities would be shared among the girls also. Don't let civization make you lose your sense of reasoning. Even your Fulani masters are trying to capture your lands, so be wiseandb start thing very far.

Nawa for u oo, did I say forgetting about my state or community?
Did I say we should make money and leave our home town?
So, if I have I should still be fighting my brothers on who will inherit my father's bicyle abi?

Since you are an advocate of not allowing daughters get an inheritance from their fathers properties

That means if such a woman is in a good position like being a president, vice, governor or senator, she should never allow her fathers family members to benefit from her positions as the case may be

Change your mindsets that's a very stupid decision

The Yorubas that gives their daughters a share from their fathers properties have already seen tomorrow

Me am Ibo and I will give my daughters whatever I give to my sons
she is free to dash anyone her own personally acquired property not an ancestral or communally gotten land.

And what is a 59 year old woman still doing in her father's house?
See eh, Nigerian feminists this is just a trip into the future.
Well I'm waiting for the other side of the story before I make mistake in judgment like an average Nigerian
Thats one of the issue, for one not to be married at that age says much about her. anyway I hate violence, quick recovery to her. say no to sentiments. should the brother live in space?

And tomorrow this set of people will be calling other people names, but wait o. Since the female child is not entitled to her father property, y do fathers take high bride price b4 they give out their daughters, they should have used her dowry as her settlement since she can't inherit the father.

You should be able to detect when somebody is speaking from sentiments.
How can the father pass all his property to his daughter with no regards for the son?
From the post you will realize that not even an inch was given to the son. This is not a case of disregarding a female child but that of a male child which would not make news because the males don't have any group like feminists fighting on their behalf
women should also not cry, when their husband's sisters come to grab their properties. I love straight justice.
Re: Enugu Man Inflicts Injuries On His Sister Over Their Father's Property (Graphic) by Legendforte: 4:22pm On Oct 01, 2020

Something is fishy in this case, it looks like the woman is more powerful than her brother and wants to take over the entire property without any regards for her brother. See her statement "he placed the properties in my custody" and when it turned to something else she wanted to use feminism and pity to get the brother locked away.
They should try and give the son something na, because from the look of it the son might be really poor and denying him access to an inch his father's property is pure injustice and wickedness
fear women and their tactics.

Stupeed and useless tradition.

Women can inherit the poverty and take over the burden she knows nothing about in the event the father dies early and leave behind a whole local Govt for her to take care of.

Women has no say but they are allowed to go and prostitute to take care of a stroke ridden father and other rats he gave birth to when some situation warrants it.

The earlier u people throw the useless tradition away the better.

Women are vulnerable that is why they die in a useless man's house despite abuse.

I already willed my first house to my first daughter. Anybody who give her any stress should be shot at sight.

for your mind you think you are wise?

Keep telling yourself that, you keep hiding from the truth even if it's shown on the front page of nairaland every single day. Incase you don't know, I'm from Awgbu town, close to Agulu in Orumba north LGA of Anambra state and I'm telling you Anambra people are wicked. The same set of bastards that killed my grandmom... Nonsense and ingredients

I am from awgbu too, but you just disgraced me by saying that anambra people are wicked.
secondly family property is not supposed to be transferred to another family, if you give your daughter a landed property and she gets married it's automatically transferred to another family, rather if she deserves inheritance settle her with cash or gift, because land property has been pass from Father to son from generation to generation.

Still taking it personally.
Please my brother everybody is not like you that sees gender when they look at their children. When I look at my children all I see is replicas of me irrespective of their gender, and I treat them the way I treat myself.
And finally, everybody's father is not like yours that doesn't have properties worth claiming. Or are you telling me that your father had fruitful companies and you decided to ditch them to uphold your so called "principle" without it making news.
Again stop judging from your own perspective, you only end up exposing your background through it

all I see in ur children is the replica of ur house boy or musa

I stay in North and I have never seen hausa girl inherit landed property

secondly coming to u for lieing about famale right in North, hausa that don't allow the female to worship in mosque with them, or allow them to go for higher education except those that are educated and rich, marry them against their will at tender age, don't allow them socialize

when it come to freedom Igbo girl have more freedom than hausa girls except on landed property inheritance which I support, she can inherit landed property in city, but I am not in support of her inheriting ancestral land which was pass down from our ancestors down to their male offspring, if not for that law we for don loss our identity tey tey.

Few weeks ago, I read an article on the decision the Supreme court gave on the note of women inheriting properties in Igbo land and I was just laughing because I know it'll never work.

Many women were forming women right activists, celebrating joyfully over the news on social media with non-Igbos and non-traditional Igbos.

Bruv, there are traditional doings that can't be stopped by social media arguement and ranting.

Not even the Federal government can give women access to their father's properties when there are men in the family. In the settings of inheritance in Igbo land, a woman has no say. The earlier y'all accept this the better.

Most of the things women advocate on social media are things that will lead them to frustration or to their early grave when practiced in reality. Let social media ideas end on social media if you want to live long in this county.

Thank youuuu so much for standing for truth.

We continue to say NO to Western Civilization that would encourage our women not to look in the direction of marriage but chest beating to share family property with men in the family.

Don't talk on what you don't know.

Which her father handed the property to her? When there are male children in the compound?

Can she go before kinsmen to spew such trash and come back without greater humiliation?

She's the architect of her own pain and my advice to all these brainless NGOs is to respect culture because even if legal instrument is used to speak into her favour, the powers that guard the land would not allow her to live and eat the proceeds therein.

Not too sure. Maybe, he entrusted his daughter, being more responsible than boda Francis (the loafer that breaks people's head), to administer the property while also prioritizing the education and wellbeing of those children.

Would be very difficult for grandchildren to be prime beneficiaries in a case like this when there are surviving children.

yea.. could be the case too

Fathers that do this are wicked and dumb... there is no way U will live inheritance to some children and leave others out and expect them to be in peace and harmony. It wont work. U are sowing seed of hatred and enmity among ur children.
Share it equally or tell them to sell and share equally.

Having a woman get more inheritance in Africa is even worse.

Let's be real

Any sensible father from that region should, because of scenario like this, sell his propperty and share the proceed before dying. It might not be palatable but that is the best option if he wants his children to live in peace after he is gone.

With due respect to your late granny, she shouldn't have towed the line of fighting over land as a woman in Igboland. Such is not the tradition and I'm sure that if her own grandparents shared her family land to females who were supposed to be married off to another family, her own brothers wouldn't have met any land to inherit and such Situation is an abomination in the lan

If his own sensible father had sold the land, shared the proceeds to him and his siblings, what would he have inherited to share to his children.

Women are more beautiful when they respect and uphold the culture of their father land.
