Theit job is to make the country safe not warn us on where and where not to go

Actually, DSS is a domestic intelligence gathering agency.(The National Intelligence Agency is the internantional opposite number) It's job is to gather domestic intelligence on threats to Nigeria, and to advise the government thereof

Yes they arrest people...as part of their intelligence gathering.

The Army, Police, and Customs, and immigration do all the heavy lifitng of security.

He is said to have been warned not to travel by road to Baga. But if the Chief Security Officer of the state can't travel by road to a town he is hoping to resettle his people, how then will the IDPs be brought back and guaranteed of their safety? Zulum had a point to prove by venturing out. At least we now better understand the true security situation of that Baga axis
BALDERDASH! So because you have a point to prove you risk other people's lives?

This thread would have been burning now had it been this happened under GEJ’s administration. But here we are romancing and trivializing the SECOND attack on this man.
And you tell me that no LGA in the North East is under BH?
Why have we chosen to be stupid because of our religious and political leanings?
Mr President and his security chiefs have failed us repeatedly! Let’s not wish this away because we have not witnessed this firsthand.
My heart bleeds for all these lives lost. Imagine not being able to travel to your community because of insecurity, will you be here praising the president?
He has failed in this aspect!!! Failed failed failed failed!!!!

If that's the case then the governor should be held responsible for the deaths and compensations paid to the family.

Never cease to amaze me. The way you guys think that your life is worth nothing always amaze me.

So will DSS give you intel if you’re travelling to a location to meet someone? Why give information when you can use that information to eliminate the threat?

It’s good he’s exposing just how dangerous Nigeria is for ever man, regardless of social class.

If what happened to him happened to you, it will not smell the news.

You tell a sitting gov to hide in his bunker, while the citizens he should be protecting are encouraged to go to ‘high risk’ zones within his domain? What Zulum is doing is leadership! At the very least, the attacks draw attention to the insecurity the fed Govt are trying so hard to bury with propaganda

The DSS should be handing this active intelligence to the military to take action and secure our land. Boko Haram is a clear and ever present danger to all, not only VIPs

In actual fact, the real Boko Haram has been technically defeated. These attacks are been carried out by a splinter groups. These groups are equally deadly, and employs guerilla tactics in their attacks because they truly can't withstand (head-on) the military and stage spectacular attacks like Boko Haram used to do.

Stop manufacturing excuses . It is the same tactics that they have always used
Splinter groups tells you that the group is growing at an alarming rate hence the rise of splinter group.

Na something wey dey grow dey experience split

So what do we call this group that look like, fight like and kill like the "real Boko Haram", but according to you, are not?

Use your brain,will you?

How on earth would any sane man venture out if he actually had CONCRETE warnings? Have you seen a nigerian sitting governor with a suicide wish before?

This is a poor attempt at diverting from the real issue. The army had nothing else to offer.

Stop deceiving yourself. How can the governor be asking for Chad's help to defeat a "splinter" group. PMB needs to be told the truth. Bokoharam is still very much active.

He is the Chief Security Officer and Commander-in-chief of the armed forces. As such, he is in the know. But there is more to this fight than knowing.

You lie to convince yourself and your likes and now, you're beginning to believe those lies. Your president gives amnesty to terrorists. That's not a man that wants terrorism to end rather he enables terrorism and rewards terrorists.
Your CIC is a terrorist!

And what do you have to say about the Niger Delta militants/militancy and how the Amnesty program helped in quelling insurgency in the Delta region?

Niger Delta millitants are not the same as Boko boys.

Boko boys are mad nihilists . More scary than Niger dellta militants, who can be reasonned with.

Amnesty worked because the Niger dllta boys were willing to talk. Boko....even if you sent a muslim team to chat with them....

Is this stream of thought that can possibly come out of average Nigerian? If the so-called DSS has intelligence about the danger posed at the area, why did Nigerian militia not ransack the area as they would have done in the so-called Niger Delta?

I think Boko is active. They have not been defeated. Gureilla tactics has always been in their playbook.

That's why it is going to take ages to beat them sadly.

Just like many other sinilar groups like the FARC and IRA.

Even the US and many other advanced nations are still grappling with varying forms of terrorist activities. Its sometimes quite difficult to totally defeat these guys, at best, they're activities are rendered less significant and conspicuous.

By attacking the governor, the terrorists are giving out a very strong message and trying to instil fear in the minds of the people. This is just to prevent the IDPs from returning, and further stamp their authority in the region.
Some elements in the military might also complicit in the attacks against the governor.
There is a thriving fish market in Baga which both the insurgents and military bases there are cashing out from.

Like I said the other time, that governor should stop putting the lives of security agents in arms way. He's taking too many risks with the lives of the people who are protecting him and he's really wasting their lives to keep himself alive.
The governor's overzealousness is creating additional more widows than necessary. He should remember that these young boys protecting him have young families, wives and kids.
Zulum, stop going to dangerous zones, Boko guys would always like to make a point

So, should we cede Baga and other areas where these insurgents are active to them?
