Of recent have been meeting lots of lawyers due to my business, and I can't just help but notice how critically intelligent these set of people are.

Have always thought Doctors are the most intelligent people due to how hard their courses and exams have been.

But I think I will give it up for lawyers, what do you think?

Infact am confused about the profession that has more technical terms or jargons. But what I also discovered is that lawyers do more reading and writing.

What makes one intelligent is not the profession than it is the individual's personal achievement. Becoming a doctor requires good mental ability but there is more complexity in engineering or becoming an astronaut than there is in medicine.

When you meet a certified accountant or economist, some physicist or even a neomarxist...you would appreciate the quality of other disciplines as you have appreciated that of law. But again, there are obtuse lawyers too and medical doctors that make terrible decisions in the simplest of things.

Think too, artists(painters, authors, composers) pioneers, inventors...the Nobel laureates, the Goethe's, Einstein's...

So again, the measure of intelligence is not the profession than it is the individual's personal quest for it. At the basic, you find both the medical and law profession demanding but the accomplishment of either is not an assurance of intelligence. It can be an assurance of capacity as most educational attainments are.

It would be hard for one to conclude as they are both different discipline with their different complexity.

But from my own point of view, objectively, I think lawyers should be more intelligent cause their profession demands they broaden across other profession. That's why a lawyer can defend any case from any profession. They always know one or two things about other profession.

But you will agree with me that a medical practitioner wouldn't come close in this regard.

What he meant is that practicing any profession does not guarantee you are intelligent, but distinguishing yourself in that profession does. Because it is easier to judge one's performance peer to peer within a profession than across professions.

The medical field is equally vast. That's why they have area of specialization....so it's really not about professional demand that involves other profession.

You can have stuff to do with other profession but the question is:Do you really have the depth of knowledge like a professional in that field?

None of them have any sense. Lol. Lawyers like charging and bailing while doctors like going on strike.

Putting lawyers and doctors as a mark of intelligence show you are not intelligent.

lawyers? doctor? lol they're overhyped in this part of the world. I'd suggest u take your observation to a Technology department.

Take lawyers away from his field, he's useless but we have docs in this Country that her mathematicians, politicians, sport analyst etc

When we were in skul every department often defends their courses to be the hardest, despite I studied mathematics, we all knew passing medicine or being this faculty shows you are atleast brilliant.

There's this India's movie I recently watched. It's titled "Aukur Arora Murder Case". I urge u to watch it and other related movies, u will understand what I was saying.

A lawyer can't be caught saying, " It's not my profession, I can't handle this case" or "I know nothing of this profession so I can't handle this case". They must know something about it and they'd carryout further research to broaden their knowledge about such profession so they would be able to defend such case in the court of law.

The lawyers might have vast knowledge in many fields but you know research knowledge for the purpose of defending a client is way different from experiential knowledge.

A lawyer might feel he has done adequate research on a medical case only to get to court and a highly experienced medical personnel will trash all his research knowledge.

Really, you can't compare on a generic level. Intelligence should be examined on an individual level because some doctors could be way more intelligent than some lawyers and sometimes, the other way round.

There's a difference between being intelligent and being cunning.

Doctors = more intelligent
Lawyers = more cunning

Engineers , trained engineers are very intelligent


Then Medical Doctors are also Intelligent

But you see when it comes to smartness the Lawyers take it

I'd go for Lawyers


Though in my own opinion, Physics and Engineering is the hardest course in academic line.

the procedure to operate on a patient is same all over (the only difference might jst be the use of more advanced methods,tnx 2 technology)a lawyer friend told me hw he quoted one law and he was told it was outdated as there was a new one dat cancels that one.so as u a lawyer u hv 2 constantly update yourself. laws differs frm community 2 community, country 2 country. that's why a lawyer frm naija can't practice in US.bt a doctor can anywhere.

Making research you say, some medical doctors study their fields for years so you think a day or two will complete your research.


Don't forget you don't joke with the lives of people. if I tell a lawyer to come treat a patient with STREPTOCOCCUS PNEUMONIA he will be confused. Same way I can't tell a Medical doctor to come and settle dispute in the law court.

So everyone is good in his/her field.
