I want to appreciate every good contributor on this thread; especially Sir Emma, and Oga Ahib.

I started following this thread early this year; oblivious of the fact that I was already late to the TBills party.

As a newbie to the world of investments, your priceless contributions on this thread has helped me to make very good investment decisions and even though I started this journey in June this year with no prior knowledge or experience to help me navigate the unfamiliar terrains, I am glad I followed all your posts and advice tenaciously; with the benefit of hindsight, I'm glad I didn't have to learn from my own mistakes.

Being a first time investor with only 4 months of "experience", you have added immense value to my life as the Lord has used you to grant me the following MSIs, courtesy of your valuable contributions on this thread: 1. FGN Bonds (Sukuk); 2. Fundamental stocks (the huge profit I'm currently sitting on, is the reason for this post) 3. Rental income 4. Commercial property.

I believe that the All knowing God had something great in store for me this year and made our paths cross through this platform to give me divine insights on how to deploy the funds available to me.

Finally, I was listening to Ibukun Awosika speak the other day and it dawned on me that everything she said, I already had knowledge of, through the discussions on this thread. It made me realize how much I had become empowered through valuable discussions on this thread; and for this, I am very, very grateful. Thank you.

It's really terrible the way a lot of folks base their conclusions on heresay. For clarification sake, credit cards are open to every US citizens and documented residents. you start with a secured card, then after sometime you like 3- 6months are then given an unsecured card. These cards are not death sentences as being pictured by Nigerians who have never been out of their living rooms before. The way credit cards really works is that you are given points anytime you use em and those point have money values given back to you and you don't pay any interest if you are able to pay back the money used within the payment due period which is usually a month or two. If you have excellent credit score you interest is usually very low like 5-6 APR unlike Nigeria with double degits MPR.

The idea that everyone goes abroad to wash dishes in a restaurant or drive cab is obsolete. No one goes to the US with a college degree to do that if he/she is properly documented. You get employed based on your qualifications. Meanwhile, in some states in Nigeria, you can't even get a state job if you're not from there or married to someone from that state or local government jobs if you are not from the he local government no matter you qualifications.

The beauty of life is to get what you can't afford, with that no one can oppress you because you can also get it. Easy Car note and mortgages have made it possible for people to improve their quality of life. if you live in debt your entire life and enjoyed the lifetime is way better than being debt free and suffered your entire life or you manage to enjoy only the last 5-10years of your life like most Nigerians.

Traveling out of nigeria is very expensive you can travel direct flight from New York to London on a return ticket for $400-500 meanwhile a direct return flight from New York to lagos is over $1k and both are approximately the same distance.

This argument is over flogged here, let people who have lived in both countries tell the difference and tell which is better. You can't like or hate what you have never tasted before. Before you compare try living in both countries, otherwise just sit and watch

This Na the same abroad I stay for 6 months with all my expenses paid going to class only and I still didn’t enjoyed it. Outside security I don’t see anything outstanding there o. Maybe it’s my perception sha.

I could buy myself two 3 bedroom semi-detached houses in a decent London suburb, say Uxbridge for instance, or two terraced houses in places like Ilford or Barking, for prices in the region of about a million pounds, less closing fees and other associated costs, live in one and rent out the other to earn income before the average Ikoyi slumlord gets a tenant to occupy their overpriced property.

Or I could buy 3 houses in many locations outside London, say Aberdeen for example, for the same purposes.
My friend go and sitdown don’t talk as if some of us have not leave there before. I stayed in Stockton on tees middlebrow for six months and saw vacant houses for those six months. Stop misinforming people. Vacancy rate is a term generated from abroad and not from Nigeria.

them still dey enjoy school? Going to school on it own is very stressful. You probably didn't enjoy it because you were living a two way street, home to school and school back home. The best way is to go with flexible options being in the system, then you can really tell whether you like it or not.

I went to school for 3 months at Richmond , Virginia for 3 months, up till now, I don't know what that place looks like. The only thing I can remember is home and school address. If it was a degree program like 2 or more years, I'd probably have had more time to explore and feel the place better.

Some one saves up and travels to Nigeria for holidays , he enjoys himself with his friends and leaves back in two weeks, he goes about telling others that Nigeria is so fun. Meanwhile, someone who lives in Nigeria laments that there is hunger and many village people in the land

A young Nigerian man has been murdered in the US five months after graduating from Virginia Tech where he studied industrial system engineering.

Alexander Nwogu, 23, had just been hired as a tech consultant with a Northern Virginia firm, Ernst and Young, before he was murdered around 1:30 a.m. at the Shell gas station in the 4900 block of Connecticut Avenue, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers arrived at the scene after reports of gunfire. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services found Nwogu with a gunshot wound and determined he was dead, the police department said.

A police report said Nwogu suffered blunt trauma to the back of his head and a single gunshot wound to the middle of his back.

According to Virginia Tech, Nwogu graduated in May with a bachelor of science in industrial and systems engineering degree.

“It is a tragic loss of a very promising life,” said Charlie Klauer, an associate professor who advised Nwogu on his senior project in the department of industrial and systems engineering. “I would say that he was a perfect blend of studiousness, seriousness and fun. He knew what he wanted and he was going to go after it and he had direction, for sure. But he also was lighthearted and could be very funny.”

"Never had any negativity about him," Nwogu's friend, Will Ventura, said. "Really positive, really hardworking, and caring. And he had such a bright future ahead of him."

Ventura said they dreamed of opening their own consulting firm together.

In a news conference, DC Police said they are looking for two suspects responsible for the murder of Alexander Nwogu.

The Metropolitan Police Department is also offering a $25,000 reward to anyone who provides information for leads to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the hom

The arguments for or against being abroad will never end because basically, both countries are not the same.. however, what people must understand is that living abroad is basically a bubble and only a very small percentage of Nigerians are really happy or fulfilled.

Case in point, I was watching cnn a couple of days ago and they mentioned Trump was ending discussions regarding another bailout to citizens. The anchor clearly said 7 out of. 10 families will be unable to feed by the end of October unless the bailout deal is agreed.

This is the part I do not understand, For a society that is supposedly the dream of everyone, why is it so hard to have savings? Covid started and just a few weeks after, people were begging for food and queuing for food stamps..

This simply means that a vast majority of Americans or whites simply live from paycheck to paycheck and can only afford many things through credit.. it also means a vast majority is groaning under the weight of outrageous bills and utilities.

The average middle class nigerian has millions saved up in his account.. That is in the thousands of dollars and would likely survive even without a job for many months..

My submission is that the system is designed for you to make money, spend it all on bills, live on credit and get stuck working almost forever.:

Nigeria has its ills, plenty self but if I have good money, I would not consider staying abroad on any single metric... Billionaires abound in nigeria and they are not complaining..

My two cents!

The society is built on consumption on credit. If you have access to almost everything on credit, there is the tendency to live above your means. Ahib once gave an example of a mall attendant who because of access to credit will buy a latest Iphone and other things. At the end of the month, once deductions are made for all the things from the paycheck, what is left is just to feed and transport.

I wont put it exactly the way you put it

Even though you are right

How I would put it, is that America gives you the financial incentive to be fiscally irresponsible
And if you go down that road
You will have yourself to blame

When there is nothing wrong with the tv and game console you bought say 10 months ago
Why do you see the need to buy another one?
Especially as you can barely afford it

Your current iPhone is still very functional
And its not even up to 22 months since it was released
Then all of a sudden you want to ditch that one and get anotherundecided

Or a lower income person see the need to periodically change his car and get stuck with a $400 car note undecided

Which kind destructive psychology be this ?

I think one of the best things to happen to anybody is when he gets a grip of his finances and consumption patterns.
And live by the motto :
Spend less than you make
And if you cant afford it
Dont buy it

It's a good lesson that takes one far
