Mobile service providers Most of you will be coming here soon and Welcome to Ireland to those that's already here. Let me say what I know about choosing a service provider. If you can't read my long writeups, Go for lycamobile. I don't work for them at all. You can pick up the Sim for free at some of the shops owned by foreigner, like the Asian and African food shops, phone and repair shops, and groceries... I visited a phone shop as I was rushing to get the bus and the guy told me I have to pay €5, I japa. It's something I picked for free before the lockdown. Another way is to go to the official lycamobile website and order it, it might arrive after 5. You can also order it for free. I paid €10 for it once, it never came till I packed out of the house, then I applied for a free one and it came after 7days. When I first came here as a JJC, me and my guy walked into Vodafone store and paid €20, for 20gig and unlimited Sim and SMS. After the first month, I after I got my room, I noticed that I only used 1gig of data, called very few number and I had to japa from that plan. I went to lycamobile. There's wifi in school, bus, at home and anywhere you can think of. Then I moved to a house with a shady landlord, an Irish landlord wouldn't be that shady. This house had Internet issues, the bunch of Nigerians there didn't even open up about the Internet problem. Till after I paid, moved in and asked for the wifi password, they roared in laughter. Ladies and gentlemen, Nigerians will always be Nigerians. I just walked to the shared room and ordered an Eire Sim. Eir is irish Sim. Very fast and all. I was happy to transfer my number to Eir and pay €20 for unlimited, after two weeks and Eir sent me a message and quoted a policy, it's called fair data usage, this guy will run down our company the way he's using our data, I consumed €100gig in two weeks. The didn't charge me extra or cut me off, they simply reduced the speed from 4G to 2G. The 2G is good, if you don't subscribe, your whatsapp messages will still be going actually, so if you have a second phone and want to get messages, you can put a free Eir Sim it and that's how my BlackBerry Passport refused to be useless outside the house. Then I moved back to Lycamobile later after I left that house of Nigerians. Before then, I had to shake the atmosphere of the house and make it too hot for my landlord, a new router came just after I paid for my first single room. I posted the pictures here, with the red arm chair, I was using Eir while I wasn't working and was collecting Covid money, I was practically at home all the time. Just that I didn't subscribe to the network, I could get whatsapp messages when I left the house. Then I got this care job and it needed me to call my colleagues at work and clock in with the work app as I did my thing, then I went back to Lycamobile. With €10, I get 25gig, unlimited call and SMS. It's been great, I can take some time off and enjoy instagram vids with peace of mind and I sometimes get close to 15gig outside the house. If you try to get a phone through this network guys, it's best to pay off, avoid those plans that make you pay monthly, it's a rip-off, saving your precious BTA is critical, that's why I'm typing all this, Cheers. 26 Likes 3 Shares |

Chiggsglover: Okay that's nice. I needed to make a call at the airport when arrived, so I was forced to buy Vodafone for €25 at the airport with 20gb, 100 minutes local call and all what not. But I got a Tesco sim also. We have Eir wireless internet access at home |

Very very great thread I must confess, I have been wandering from thread to thread looking for the best country to port to , but my coming in here and reading comments from the op @chugslover has made me desire Ireland more than other options I was previously considering, hence permit me to take over this thread with questions even as I start my journey to Ireland. First question pls If I am to go through the critical skilled list route pls how do I do that I studied Process Chemical Engineering, do I have to have someone in Ireland to help me secure a job first or can I do that from Nigeria? Second question Are there scholarships available for people like me dat do not have so much funds but desire to travel out by all means, should incase I decide to go through school route Third how much minimum can I budget for both POF and other expenses. Thanks in view of your response |

This is really helpful, I was trying to get network 3 SIM card today at their store opposite Stephen mall, the data plan is 10gb per month and unlimited calls and text messages. I was given a 50% discount, I was asked to pay 10 euros. Unfortunately they didn't accept cash payment and my dollar card isn't working. What can you say about 3 mobile network and where do they accept cash payment for buying of SIM card. Chiggsglover: 1 Like |

ExpressBooking: Ireland is closer to Finland than Portugal to Finland. And the two countries are regarded as Schengen countries. If it's about distance, I don't think that will be a problem. They need to pass that bill. |

Princeadex04: Thanks for your write up. When i arrive at the airport, before i can come out of my two weeks quarantine to get a sim card, how can i communicate? I am about to get a new phone today, will the sim card over there fit in with the space for sim card we have in phones from Nigeria? Or should i just wait and get a phone there with the right sim?Chiggsglover 1 Like |

Stephanie22: The sim card is pre-cut already into normal sim, Micro sim and Nano sim. So u have nothing to worry about. Here someone can help u buy a sim while in isolation, it doesn't matter. You can still buy a sim at the Dublin Airport 4 Likes |

Shame on you SARS This is to the bad eggs in SARS Shame!!! It's not like I'll ignore the few good ones, that is if there is. Just to avoid generalisation. A former SARS had a unfortunate calamity to him and his daughter, broke down and said it was due to the terrible things he did while he was in service, I saw Karma in action. But to the Mafias among them, they should be ashamed of themselves for the death and pain they have caused, they even became the scariest form of Robbery permitted by our looting government. When I was starting my locs in this country, the reality of going back home was a nightmare, my only consolation is that I will save enough and get a policeman to follow me around, but that's not freedom. I'll still have to be afraid of the SARS gang shooting the poor guy or maybe the guy might japa when he sees SARS. It's better I take that kind of precaution than to be robbed and killed like an animal after all the investment on my head, even the fact I'm the only son. So be wasted like that is scary. Even a powerful man like the ooni of ife is scared himself. One of the motivation Nigerian students in London, Ireland,... are carry placard around even with irish people thinking we're protesting against SARS sexually transmitted disease and not some Constitutionally empowered criminal, it's because we know that we can't come home, SARS is waiting for us. With the money we earn here, a young dude of 23 can afford to rent or drive a posh car in Nigeria. The older generation who don't have issues with SARS believe that once they are removed, criminals will be more bold, the question is, are the SARS operatives even going the real criminals? I never had issues with SARS but that doesn't mean I won't lend my voice. Collectively, our voice is powerful. If we can raise our voice as Youths against this issue, and see results, the future is bright. The protest infrastructure will be created and there is the possibility to move for change when we have a sleeping government. How can we have a president that refuses to be seen for months. Politicians won't be bold to steal money cos they don't know when the Youths will say enough is enough and Shout. 17 Likes 2 Shares |

Informanta:Thank you very much. I'm glad you're seeing possibility here. First question, I personally don't know much about this route. Secondly, Scholarship isn't much for Ireland sadly. You can only get from the school, I only got €1000 from my school, but still paid €11,500. Thirdly, For POF, If you're studying, €7000 using edubonds, or €10000 roughly for POF in a sponsors account for your nuclear family only. Very important To the general public, if you got your visa through a work permit. You have my full permission to share how. Remember that God blessed you to help others. You can create a thread to guide us or if you can put it here. You have my full support. And if you're in Dublin, I might.... 7 Likes |

The building is the Embassy of Nigeria, That was the meeting place of the #ENDSARS Ireland which held on Saturday. 12/10/2020. We abided by the law and had our face masks on. It was a bit challenging to be physically distant as there was no Public address system. The Gardai was around as they should when theres a public event.. they just watched from their vehicles. It was a peaceful protest in all. I happen to be in one of the pictures below. 6 Likes
