Why would someone you buy phones from know your house? One has to be principled and careful.
These are desperate times. Sometimes just say "no" for the sake of doing so.

This reminds me of a time while in Lagos. A gateman of a big man's house came and met me saying he has 42 inches Plasma TV to sell for 20k. See me that was using 28 inches saw it as an opportunity to upgrade. But I just said "No". A month later, I saw the big man with Vigilante guys flogging this gateman. You know how much a used iPhone costs not to talk about a brand new iphone and then an offer for far less the amount was made and the buyer rushed without proper investigation. Na the problem with buyers wey like to dey price anyhow cos them no wan release money, they fall prey to deals like these. If it’s too sweet then look twice before jumping. Also, who buys stuff without receipt these days. Only buy from reputable shops that is traceable and have been in the business long.

One monday morning like that these 5 SARS officials came down to my office at egbeda with one Mr Olumide, a bros that I know ...

I bought it in the gsm village olugbede market..
I opened my drawer and brought out the receipt of the phone as proof of ownership..
One of them asked me to take them to the place I bought it ..



I said no problem I took them 6 of them 5 SARS and Mr olumide to where I bought the..
Phone ...I pointed to Mr Usman the person that sold the phone to me ...
He didn't deny selling the phone..
My mind was at rest hoping that am out of whatever trouble it is..
Not knowing what's gonna happen next
The next thing they said was that the phone was a stolen phone
And that they have been tracking the phone for about 4 months ago..
I was already shivering
Then I thought since I bought the phone and showed my receipt and where I bought it that I don't have any problem..
One innocent customer came to the Mr usman shop that moment that he wants to buy something..he didn't know they were on SARS
U know dey didn't put on their uniforms..
He was chased out the guy started vexing for the embarrassment..the next thing the SARS started beating the guy
Serious beating oh.. their team leader brought out his pistol and asked him (the customer) to b chained....
The whole market was gathered

They packed us inside a jeep..

They first of all took us to idimu police station..they got down I didn't know wat they went into the station to do we where still in the jeep

Later they brought down the Innocent customer and started beating him cause he insulted them earlier

About 30 mins later they returned the customer back into the jeep and started driving towards ogba area at agege...

The customer was already crying and begging....that he didn't know they where police..
He was asked to pay 50k right inside the jeep or he would b taken to the station...he was just crying



To cut his own part of the story they took him to one ATM spot
He withdrew 18k for them I think that was the whole money with him..and they dropped him there.
We proceeded on our journey ..

So basically what these ppl do
Is to get some phones from God knows where and note down their IMEI and SERIAL numbers...
Give it to someone to sell in a market ....
And start tracking the phones just to arrest ppl involved and extort them.. claiming it was robbed

Might interest you to know that majority of stolen phone cases never happen.

So that Lady asked him to bring his account number , make she do the transfer , na so that Guy tell him say , he get problem with his bank , that he no dey use bank for now , make the girl give him cash , he tell the girl say make they go bank go withdraw , the Guy say make they use Nearby POS services , that he will pay for charges .

So after payment , the Guy gave the girl the phone , and disappear into thin air , the Phone is very very Good , 100% Original and the girl was enjoying it .... After 2 weeks of their transaction ... she received the highest shock of her life ... 4 armed policemen visited her apartment and arrested her.

They told her that the phone she is using was one of the properties collected from a man at a Gun point robbery , that she is one of the suspects , they also told her they on the day of the robbery , the man's 24k Gold watch worth 2.8 Million Naira , Her necklace worth 6 Million naira and her 2 months used Mercedes benz GLE Worth 42 Million Naira was collected from him.

They went further to tell the girl that inside that phone , the a contract and deal that worth over 80 Million naira was also deleted, they said before her release, that she must pay for all these or be charged to court.

They gave her the second option of providing the Guy that sold the Phone to her !!!

To Cut the story short, a Guy who works as an informant to a luxury hotel said he saw the same guy who sold the phone to the girl with the people that arrested the lady, as much as the man who claims that his heaven was stolen, discussing on how the girl go pay at least 5 million before they think of releasing her.

They are there drinking and eating Big meat , and the girl is inside police cell suffering.

I have a sister in law that had similar experience. This one happened in Aba during luckdown, a guy who was once in buying and selling of stew condiments brought goods for her at normal market price, she bought it from him and paid because within that period to procure their goods is not that easy due to restriction of movement.

This guy later came with SARS after some days that those goods were stolen, The girl was arrested and all the goods she bought from him confiscated by SARS. They now mandated her to pay #200,000 plus for her to be excluded from the case, out of fear, she paid that money and the goods were not given back to her which worth over #150,000 and above.

That same day on getting home, the same guy was seen at home, we were surprised, he was supposed to be locked up as a thief. That was when I realized that the guy joined SARS to steal from her.

Mind you that guy is working free till date and she has confronted the guy several times and the guy threatened her life for that.

Even with your receipt the police will still detain you and ask you to provide the seller who issued the receipt.

This is so so true, i even learnt that what this SARS guys do is they get the IMEI and SERIAL NUMBER of the phone down and send the phone out for some one to fall victim, they will now trace the phone to the unfortunate buyer and then the rest you know.

don't be so sure, a guy here have shared his experience On it too.
He provided receipt and the seller yet still got arrested and spend more than 1week in d cell, after everything, there was no complainant of a stolen phone, na those police the set am up

Here is how it works, there are programs online people use in wiping iPhones into a mode called bypassed mode. Bypass mode allow a secondary user to make use of the phone not knowing the original owner whose iCloud wasn’t logged out can still track the phone.
