The earlier we understand that we'll continue to scrape the bottom of the pot the better for us. cheesy. We would mostly only be able to convince the worst of foreign-born players to play for us. The best of them would keep choosing their countries of birth. It was, It is, and it'll continue to be until we get our things right at home. All we can do now is select the best of the worst. cheesy

This is the wrong way to think about this. There are just too many Nigerian players and not all can be absorbed into the English or German teams. That does not mean, they are not quality.

Akpoguma is not ’bottom of the barrel’. Neither are Uduokhai or Tourunarigha. These players add quality to us. They are certainly not bottom of the barrel.

You are correct, couldn't be so bad that he wouldn't even get cup games, but you never can tell if the coach told him that and he said he'll prefer to go on loan instead of being an extra tire.
Exactly. I hope he will be able to leave the club permanently next summer. Porto is one club that i can say is not good with developing players.

It could be the difference in the quality of transmission equipments..

I've watched quite a good number of Nigerian matches on AIT and they have been okay, video quality wise..
Even supersport sometime dish out nonsense...
that's it. Their transmission equipment needs overhaul. If TVC or channels tv do have sport channels, things might be better. AIT can be decent at times. NTA is a disaster.

NTA is a national disgrace I swear..

Being a government owned TV station, I'm not surprised..
Everything about NTA reflects the situation of things in this country...

He better recall Ighalo.

Why?

I think you should first advise Southgate to recall Vardy

I wonder why you guys don't rate Awaziem here

He is not that bad
as in ehhhn when people criticise Awaziem i go just dey surprised. Awaziem that was never beaten by any winger on one on one situation in the last AFCON. i still remember that cross he gave that musa chested for ighalo to score. Awaziem is a very solid player only limited by pace.

I disagree, their business model is buying cheap players and selling them at a high amount. Wouldn't have been able to do that if they don't know how to develop players

Awzaiem did well in the afcon at RB and many people praised him here

If not because Ebuehi is back and Zaidu awaziem might have started today game self

There is an underlying issue people do not consider when they compare English players to Nigerian players. This is the issue; the English players have massive opportunities and privilege to feature in the EPL notwithstanding how poor they are and even the average ones get to play for top English clubs and this helps with player growth , development and confidence. The Nigerian players you are comparing them with dont have these benefits , especially those born in Africa.

Take Awaziem, Nwakali , Ejuke , and Kalu for instance. These player , if English will enjoy the opportunity of playing to football in England and after some season when their potentials have been developed you would call them world class.

If we have a decent league in Nigeria where the average earning is at least one million Naira per month and the clubs are structured to professional standards I can bet you that we will beat England mercilessly every time we meet them. Most of our talented players never received the early teachings they need...Taye Taiwo and Ahmed Musa are perfect examples...raw undeveloped talents.

When Enyimba of Aba reigned supreme in Africa I can point out five players from that set that could cost at least 5 million dollars if was a Brazilian club that won the Champions League back to back....Muri Ogunbiyi, Damian Ude, Onyekachi Okonkwo , late Romanus Orjinta and the bully and skillful Ekene Ezenwa. These players if Brazilians would have raked in about 50 million dollars for the club. Especially, the midfield terroristic duo of Muri and Onyekachi.

Final point, don't compare two players until they have both received the same opportunities.

It's not the wrong way. I used the word "most". Akpoguma is 25, he's never been called up by the german national team, so ofcourse it would normal to declare interest in playing for Nigeria. Has any foreign-born player with Nigerian roots ever gotten a call-up but refused cos he would rather play for Nigeria? find me examples. I actually intended "bottom of the barrel" to be relative.I probably should have clarified it. I meant by the standards of the European countries dominating football. Ofcourse they add quality. I mean, how can you do any worse? grin

sorry this is off topic but i'm proud of our youth today. Inspite of political differences, religious, tribal inclinations they are protesting and insisting on our rights as free citizens. Even some of our players Ahmed Musa, Balogun have tweeted about it. May all our efforts and cries for justice not be in vain.

Then what's the point of all these discussions? What's the point of this thread all others of its kind? Witohut making reasonable comparisons, what the hell is football all about? You must enjoy mediocrity a lot. Why the hell do we need a coach self? Not to talk of a foreign coach? Why the hell do we need boots? Why the hell do we need socks? We could play with our legs? Why the hell do we need a ball? We could kick oranges. Maybe our folks can actually take these things seriously and learn. We may never be as deeply technical as they are, but it's definitely not too late to learn. O sorry i forgot, most of our folks are still at least 2/3 years older. Maybe that's why they cannot develop the techniques. cheesy. If one is truly an 18-20 year old talented player, you can still develop the techniques if you focus, work hard and learn. At least you get to hone your talent with techniques that particularly most important. We know you are underprivileged. Most of us have been all our lives. How about we shut up and get to work? cheesy
