That's the main thing. He was rated highly. Like, he was going to waltz in and bench everyone in the team. E for better make dem make excuses for am that he was played out of position, but saying he played well? That's a lie.

At a point sef, in the Algerian box, I saw him gasping for breath pointing to the person wey wan throw to wait. I was like, ahn ahn? shocked

It was very noticeable because Ebuehi might not have been excellent, but he did well. Kevin just went opposite lipsrsealed

And some of us still came here to clap for him

Yeah, I saw that moment too. And I was like now-now?

Good we have secured him all the same. But remember how Balogun and Ekong also started. In fact Balogun even cost us a goal on his debut game.

Well let's just hope Akpoguma settles well enough.

I am not much of a follower of the Bundesliga and I have not watched so many of Akpoguma's games. Truly, he was highly rated here. Truth be told, his performance was below expectations.
However, this is his first game, I hope he has what it takes to settle down fast enough.

But we all know African opposition no be beans.

Na blood and sweat dem dey do for here, no time for sleek, tactical passing like you see in Europe, so, anybody wey never chop better fit faint for pitch.

On a final note, whatever response I've seen here is typical of Nigerian fans. The moment we lose a game, we become the worst team in world football, we win a game and we are the next best thing since God created the Garden of Eden. I can remember how we praised our team after we drew Brazil. Now we lost and all of a sudden our players are academy quality.

It's just a friendly guys, let's not allow our emotions get the better of us. We were poor but all the same there were also some positives. Like the coach said, it's just to test.

Tijani is already at the level for Super Eagles, this should be Agu's last invite

Our pressing game today was almost non existent...we didn't even commit enough men forward.. Iwobi appeared to be the only one trying to get the ball to Onuachu..

Seriously,Rohr needs to scout for some more decent midfiders..maybe get Ejaria paperwork done quickly...
We need more MFs.Iwobi was the only one doing the pressing. The MF was simply non existent. And for God's sake,Rohr is becoming too conservative.

Rohr has always been Rohr, his team set up was poor, yet, there was no tactical change from him to attempt stirring the tides in his favor. It was just like play just the way you like insha Allah, we may get a goal. grin grin

We lacked presence in the midfield. Ajayi and Onyeka are just aren't up to it, why was Azeez not invited please?

Tijani is A Star in the making, yes, I said it.

Overall, our problem was from the middle, we were unable to string up to 5 passes together. What makes matters even worse is, the Algerians weren't that spectacular, but, for their tactical discipline, they did enough to suppress us, their pressing was mad too.

Azeez would have come in handy

Well!!!!!!!!! I pray so cus i loved his football at u-17 level

We were doing alright in the first half when we let there central defense build play, defending mid block, activating the press when they pass the ball to either fullbacks. with onuachu pressing the center back from the goal post angle and the winger pressing the full back on the ball and only going for full press when there is a forced back pass.
In the second half we tried to press high during their build up play, coupled with limitations of our midfield, opened spaces in between lines for them to play through with iwobi trying to do lots of defending.
Our wingers did not get in the groove at all.

The lack of creativity in the midfield is glaring,I noticed it at AFCON 2019. This current Super Eagles lack a proper centre midfielder, Rohr should make sure he never misses inviting Ramon Azeez in subsequent matches so long Azeez plays the La Liga, although Azeez isn't world class he adds a bit of creativity and balance in the midfield. This Super Eagles team is really a midfielder who can control the tempo of a game and retain possession.

I too have never rated Ekong for once, Balogun is still the best centre back in the Super Eagles

drDoom3:

Many highly respected members of this thread even said, and I quote, "Ekong is the only defender assured of his starting spot, Balogun, Semi Ajayi, Omeruo and Awaziem will fight for the other spot".

I don't know how some people watch football though, but as for me, I have never seen Ekong play good football as a defender. His game is just aimless clearances and wild tackles. Ekong as a defender is not disciplined enough to start in any Bundesliga club.

Both teams haven’t played together in nearly 1 year, so that’s to be expected.

Unfortunately, I think that many Naija “fans” are just too dumb to know how to put things in perspectives.

At a point I noticed chukwueze was frustrated, maybe bcus our NEPA pole of a man couldn't connect... grin, (u should have seen his face on 3D). Ebuhie was good, I notice his calmness on d ball, maybe match rusty, but OK. Sanusi was d revelation, he placed mahrez in his cage (u need to see live chicken of a man he is in sanusi's cage, to the extent mahrez started committing foul). Balogun was my MOT. Gosh! Look how confident he is, controlling the ball and sniffing off threats. Iwobi was brilliant, I think Ndidi and Aribo would have made him unplayable. Osimhen was madly missed. Kelechi brought a bit of urgency at the late stage. Tijani played 6mins, only 6mins and he was everywhere winning the balls and as well creating channels for attack. Wat a lad he is! Rhor needs to learn how to read games and Make quick substitutions.

OK, bye!

He hasn't played this season, hence, his rustiness. He's a decent performer on his day.

I have no idea the meaning of that question.

It is harmless bants to you, because you are not the one constantly being attacked, it is not harmless bants to the person being attacked.

The fact that most of you lack emotional intelligence, is no surprise, considering this is a country filled with such people.

Here’s the full game, you can watch it again, this time without tension. We weren’t too bad. The only problem with our game: they overran our midfield, which is understandable as we play with a makeshift midfield pairing.

The team started poorly(Typical of this team). And Algeria did their homework on that and capitalized on it well.

Except for the shaky start, and early goal, the defense did creditably well. Balogun was my man of the match. The duo of Ekong and Ajayi also did ok. Sanusi did creditably well. Is he better than Aina? Too early to call, but now we know we have an extra man there. Ebuehi looked match rusty as he was mostly on the back foot against the Algerian number 20. Plus his crosses were poor. Akpoguma, looked overwhelmed. Looked like he had stage fright grin

Our Midfield was the weakest link, especially in the first half. Mikel Agu looked an improved player. Frank Onyeka did just fairly well in the first half, for a debutant but we really missed an Ndidi. Most of Iwobi's passes were not actually the best but his work rate was awesome. Samson Tijani Showed some little sparks of promise.

Chukwueze was our greatest threat going forward in the first half. Samuel Kalu was not his usual self, wasting chances all over. Simon brought in more pace and direct play but Musa looked like a player on the verge of retirement.

Onuachu, due to lack of good balls from the midfield struggled to make impact. Chances were few for him. Iheanacho came in an added more sense of urgency in the attack but the Algerian defense did a good job on him.

Maduka Okoye, started shaky, but improved as the game progressed.

We lost but there are some take homes from this game. Remember we played against the African champions.

We look forward to the Tunisia game.

I said Michael Agu looked confident on the ball and somebody said he was poor

Agu was monstrous and assured on the ball...He is a better ball player and showed he can play centrally. Go watch the game again.

Akpeyi may be a better goalie than Maduka, but Maduka gives you confidence, and that, most time is enough. One moment he impressed me was when he caught a through pass with his body outside the box but the ball still in box, reminds me of Akpeyi's howler against Argentina. He deserves to be at least our number 2 with his showing today.

Ebuehi just coming back from a 2 year injury did relatively well, but simply wasn't at his best and playing against an in-form Benrahma didn't help his course that much. Zaidu was impressive too.

As long as Balogun is fit, he should always be playing abeg, till he decides to call it quits.

Tijani is A Star in the making, yes, I said it.
