Onweke:
I already have around 7 million before I submitted my application in June 2020 and my application was refused due to finance and weak home ties. I vexed and invested 2m in business. So the fund in the account is 5m since July. I want to reapply but need to top up the funds to 10m. Looking for a possible way to do it professionally without another refusal. I have a wife and a 5 month baby. Wife is working, Mum is working.

Hello Onweke,

I will give my opinion from two viewpoints.

1. Be patient enough and run your account with the 5m from moms. This can go a long way to prove you're in a good economic standing.

2. If there isn't sufficient time to be patient, get moms to write a letter of support to back the funds committed into the intent.

Both points may make better sense if you can make part payment of your tuition without limiting the current balance. I think point one should be considered.

The most suitable person you should have talked to (be talking to) is the program administrative secretary and/or program coordinator/assistant. These people have their ways of assisting if the right persuasion was applied.

I want to support this statement. People often look down on these people. What they don’t know is that professors are mostly too busy or hate admin workload so much so that they give their admin staff power to decide many things like who get scholarships and what amount. Then program coordinator review, if they do, and stamp it. I suspect admin also have program coordinators signatures and permission to use it in some cases like putting it on admission letters, etc. Don’t belittle your program admin. They are probably more powerful than you think. They are usually friendly too, so don’t be scared of them. cool

Thanks Chocs. I am already in communication with my friend in Canada, I will apply for the GCMS today unfailingly.

Chocs:
Hello ericksen

You can order your GCMS notes to see what’s happening with your application. It will show the most up to date status of your application.

To do that yourself from Nigeria, just google “GCMS notes sites Canada” and you’ll see several websites you can order it from. It costs between $15-$20 cad and can take up to 35 days to be ready.

If someone in Canada (Citizen, PR, temporary resident) is ordering it on your behalf it would cost $5 cad only.

Best wishes

Hi, I followed these guidelines back to back and still got denied. .I think these guys aren't interested in PGD people anymore cos the few people I have noticed that got approved are Masters with funding. I uploaded a copy of my denial reasons. The third reason, I don't even understand because I related courses I had done in the university, I uploaded my transcripts too, I even work in the same field. I have applied for my GCMS notes too. Please can I send you a mail to review my SOP

Hello Babybenbaby,

No study visa application is immune to a refusal. Look closely. Request for your GCMS notes and repackage your application.

Efair12:
Good evening everyone,
My name is Ife and I am very very new here, how’s everyone doing? Please I’d need your help with my case thanks in advance.
I have been offered an admission into a DLI and program starts Dec 1. I am 24, married. My husband is my sponsor as we run an automobile business together and we are both signatories to the account. I paid 5000 CAD for tuition deposit and as at now we have 7m in the account but will hopefully raise 20m before I apply for my visa. I intend to apply alone even though I have a daughter.
Now my fear is, since my program is close do I still go ahead to and apply? And also the refusal rates nowadays is alarming and is making me skeptical should I go ahead and apply regardless or wait till the world is a bit normal. I was able to gather few information that the rate of denial is high but their desk is full or so so they trying to clear and let new applications come in. Has anyone been approved recently? Please I’d like for all the guru to come to my aid in this, I want to make my mi d to either go ahead with the application or defer to April next year. I’d be glad if you look into this, thanks and God bless

Hello Efair12,

The rate in refusals should be a motivation to take the EE route to Canada. I don't mean to sound condescending but at 24 and being able to get a Master here in Nigeria coupled with 3 years work experience, not only you but together with your young family will be in Canada hopefully in 2022.

You can apply and thereafter defer your admission if there is no update before Mid-December. I believe your admission intake is for Winter 2021.

Hello. Please I want to ask how feasible is to get visa if you are a 2:1 graduate with admission from a college.
I heard that it is a red flag if you use an admission from a college instead of a university and you have a 2:2

Hello Thequeeen,

There is no such thing as red flag. There are lots of first-class students who got their study visa with the right college admission program.

MyRace:
Good evening all,

My GCMS notes finally came out (unfortunately I can't post here because of personal details intertwined in the final paragraph). I was refused for:

Purpose of visit

Family ties (I applied with family, but hubby won't be staying with us)

However, from the notes, I noticed that an error was made regarding my previous studies, which now made my proposed study not to make sense. I indicated that I have an MBA from school A, the VO noted that I had an MSc Finance from school B, whereas my proposed study was MSc Finance, therefore it wouldn't make sense to be pursuing the same course again.

Also, following from above, they felt the amount of money I plan to spend on my family (again using the erroneous previous study) was too much investment to add value to me and may not yield enough to offset the costs in the future.

Please, dear experts, how do I address this?

Thank you for your anticipated responses

Hello MyRace,

The first step is to identify the mistakes and then work with the concerns stated in the notes to rework your letter(s). I think with the two point refusal reasons and with the help from the notes, you should be able to build insights on addressing the raised concerns accordingly. For the home ties, support your social ties with economic ties also.

If the error came from the VO, point this out too. I think you will do just fine, just focus.

Good day Fam,

Please i need your urgent help and guide and may God bless you as you help me.

Ok.. I just got my admission to study a post graduate certificate (8months to 1 year) program at Conestoga College Canada for January 18 2021 and would like to state the following before i proceed to enable you advice me accordingly.

1. I studied (BA)Mass communication 2005 and got admitted to study Broadcasting and digital performance in conestoga College. Please i would appreciate your candid advice because i'm married with 3 kids(2+,6 & 8 )years old respectively .I am 36yrs and hubby is 40yrs.I once travelled to Europe once while hubby went to the US and Europe. Just for the records. I work in a bank for the past 10yrs and my husband works and does personal consulting business as well and he is the major sponsor although i am also co-financing the program cost since am working as well. Now my question is would you advice i go with all my 3 kids or just the last child that is 2yrs+ and leave my hubby and two other kids as family home ties while him and the other kids join me later.?
2. My plan is to pay the acceptance deposit +first semester's fee even though we have the full tuition funds and living expenses. My question is would you advice i pay the whole one year tuition to prove our commitment?
3.Please i would like to know if i'm required to produce flight tickets and accommodation bookings, medical or police reports before uploading on the portal and submitting at the biometric appointment date?
4.Please is January 2021 realistic enough to meet up travelling abroad based on the Covid19 global pandemic to avoid the rush and panic.
5.Please is there a number of words required to writing the SOP?
6.Can my hubby use his investment bank letter instead of statement of account as proof of funds? does he require to add his pay slips?

Thank you all as i look forward to you candid help and advice.

Ijeoma.

This works well for demonstrating home ties and good economic level of establishment while business valuation demonstrate good financial strength of the source of funds but not counted towards liquid funds.

Hello ijeoma12345

Welcome to the thread.

I’ll give answers to some of your questions (questions 3,5 and 6)

3) you do not need flight tickets or accommodation bookings to apply for the visa. The medical exams are done at specific clinics, IOM or Qlife clinics. You can do an upfront exam (before your application, or after applying before they ask you to do an exam) OR you can apply and wait for IRCC to instruct you to go for the medical exam.

Police certificate is optional but I’ll advise you to do it, there’s nothing to lose.

5) there is no word limit for the SOP.

6) statement of account(4-6 months) is preferable to investments. The money should be readily available (liquid) Since he’s co-sponsoring, he should also include documents to show his source of income i.e employment/business (eg business registration documents since he works for himself) if he’s employed, he should include payslip and proof of employment (introduction letter, confirmation of appointment)

While you wait for others to respond, you can start reading the thread from page 1 (you can find the page numbers at the bottom of the page) so you can gain enough knowledge to help you put in a strong application.

Best wishes

To answer your number 2 question, if you can pay for the full year please do, i did the same thing too, it gives a better leverage.
3. you dont need to schedule flight tickets, there is no flight ticket that has a coverage of two years. you cant book Jan 2021 to return jan 2023.. med report and police report can also be done upfront like chocs said.. or you can wait for the canada to tell you to go for medicals..
4. Honestly the time frame is quite short you have give or take 3 months (12 weeks)... to Jan 2021

2022 is far if she and hubby pass ielts this year and submit application this year or early next year. The only thing is that some highly qualified EE persons would prefer higher student fees now and push their immigration hustle into the future. They can’t escape the hustle if they plan to settle in Canada. However, they hope Canada will not change its mind like UK did in the past and US is almost doing now. I didn’t take that chances and I am glad I didn’t. Happy thanksgiving to everyone in Canada.

I wish all student admission and visa applicants the best. Do not give up! Some will have to go through other routes (country or program) to get to Canada. The most important thing is to get here if that is what you desire. I heard masters admission and visa processing are easier in Estonia and Germany, and I have friends who have immigrated to Canada after studying in European countries. Keep your options open if necessary, but loose your focus on the prize. All the best.

Hello all,

Has anyone ever used 25% of Pension Funds as part of the PoF?

Considering this is a temporary visa, if this advisable?

I would not advise it (personal opinion)
Only use it to show you have money to come back to. Not as a main source of fund, since the money is not readily available.

Hello good people. Hmmm my boy's Application was denied . I ordered for gcms note the vo stated that there was an inconsistent of deposit and withdrawals from my husband's account. Hubby said we should send him to uk for his undergraduate study. Hubby doesn't really like him to school in canada I wanted that. But with this refusal he his no longer interested in reapplying.
He has applied to uk university. Pls is it a good idea to send him to uk or should I convince him we reapply? He got admission in university of Leicester electronic and software engineering. While the admission in canada was computer science major. Thank you

In my opinion, Uk isn’t a bad choice especially since they’re restarting the post-study work visa (2 years)

While Google can help you out with the indicative rate, almost all the banks charge different rates. But I don't think the spread (the difference in their rates should be more than N10-20)

Please i want to ask another question.

What if my husband saved this fund like a year ago and left it in an investment account accessible by him anytime but has not made much money since after he saved up enough money to cover my school expenses and all.Do i still need to get his statement of account4-6months that doesnt have much transaction history or i should only justify how he made the money that has been saved for this school a while ago.?

Awaiting your feedback please.

Hello ijeoma12345

To the best of my knowledge, it is not just about having the exact money for your tuition and living expenses . They want to see your sponsor is a capable and has a constant/good flow of income. That way, no matter what happens when you get there, the sponsor can take care of it. Also since you have 3 kids and you’re married, they’ll want to see how your kids and husband will survive in your absence (money) So your husband can’t use all his money he saved on your education. Some should be left for him and the kids staying behind. So your account and income source has to be worked on.

What type of investment is that? Statement of account is preferred to investments as I previously said. This little things can make or break your application. You can submit an investment certificate and be refused on the ground of insufficient funds, I’ve seen it happen to many people. Money already invested into something is not usually seen as “available”

Proving your sponsor’s source of income is mandatory. Showing money your sponsor has without proving the source (employment payslips or business registration documents) can lead to a refusal. This money he saved, what is the source? I hope you understand what I’m trying to say.

Have you thought of breaking the investment and transferring it to an account, leaving it to sit for 4 months, while you defer your admission and gain more knowledge to help you put in a strong application?

Best wishes
