I’m even happy that a Dssc officer is GOC..he’d treat the Dssc candidates well at their screening cos na him people.

The man na NDA regular ooo he’s not a dssc officer ‍♀️

No offense bro, but you guys should take you mind of allowance and incentives attached to it unless you're either applying coz of unemployment or you want to flex power on your village men.
Channel this energy in finding out people's allowance into calling or praying.
Make list fess before you think of anything.
In fact making list is not enough, make final list then you can now try and know about salary, allowance or any benefit attached to it.
Personally I find it offensive and intrusive whenever people try to know how much I earn because it's confidential and at that point it becomes a dick measuring contest or a yard stick to allocate respect to you.

If you're under the employ of the gov't you can't be rich like entertainers, businessmen, professionals in private practice like IT etc. Same is applicable for the armed forces, you will be comfortable (Middle class) not that the salary is too big but because of some palliatives like free accomodation, Subsidised health care and education for you & your immediate family etc it tends to relieve pressure from personnel. Though one might be lucky to get some juicy appointments with juicy allowances, like UN mission, Defence attaché etc but that is a probability because some times you'll be posted to where you'll have only your salary to depend on. When you start raising kids/family you'll understand that what is being given to you isn't as big as you thought. There are officers that are in serious debts, forget all the heavy starching of khaki o! and flashy cars some of them na loan grin .
If na money pursue come army, you fit go begin loot army properties, and involve yourself in shady deals just like SARs and if you're caught the disgrace no go get part 2.

Bro i totally agree with everything u said but your last statement "Just like SARS" u ought not to have said such, at least the late badeh was involved in shady deals, other para military and military personnel also do it so need mentioning SARS here. Its military we talking about not police force, if u want to explain, do it properly not deviating. Do u see any military officer stopping someone or checking their phone or bursting them in their houses. That's my two cent

I used SARS as a metaphor for "Shady deals" it shouldn't be taken literally. That's by the way shady deals isn't only limited to checking people's phones without a court warrant, or breaking into people's properties. It's a general term which encompasses dubious, suspicious, or potentially immoral or unlawful arrangement, agreement, contract, or transaction .
Thank You.

My own is if you join the military for money, you’ll bring yourself out.. my cousin in the navy and I were having a discussion last week about why he hated Nigerian army short service officers so much...mind you he’s a lieutenant in the navy..which is the equivalent of a captain in the Nigerian army..

Honestly just like the officer pointed out, a vast majority of applicants are going in for the power, money(which dey presumed) and maybe possibly respect attached to it. We all have our reason or motivation driving us to this job but if it's not passion or self service driven, aswear this job go frustrate you. If na money be una problem, go into IT like oga Sikowitz said, you fit make like 500k monthly if you know what you're doing and have links to gigs

We should stop decieving ourselves..What was our initial reason for sponsoring ourselves to higher Institutions? or why did our parents sponsored us to higher Institutions? Was it out of attainment of good living..I have ratings in the Nigerian Navy that are holders of ND and HND respectively... What are we now saying... It's high time we started considering some of the lapses in our country.. Wether Army,Navy and Airforce everything still revolves around what you get in returns for ur selfless service

First thing, nobody would do it for free because we expect returns for work done, but it’s not the major reason why most of the people I know want to enlist.. the army sometimes lives in the poorest of conditions.. take ikeja cantonment for example.. Nepal has cut their light... they only have light for 2 hours everyday for the last 3 months..what’s the use of the money then? It is a call to serve first! Service rendered requires payment.. so it’s not first about the money, because there’s really no money there if we must be honest.. my younger sister that’s a devops engineer earns what a major earns and she’s just 22.

i ask you again, which money? It’s obvious many of us have not worked at all and if we have, not worked a good paying job.. that’s why you think there’s “money” in the army..
My first job after I left nysc was with the Vice Presidents office in Abuja.. there was money and the ID card was power..ID card that’ll grant me access into halls when captains would be sitting outside..
so I ask you again, which money?
