The American tactician has stated he is fully focused on contributing to the success of the African champions at the global stage

Randy Waldrum has confirmed his full commitment to Nigeria amid reports questioning his coaching role with the African champions.

The 64-year-old was announced as the head coach of the Super Falcons on Tuesday, replacing former trainer Thomas Dennerby, who left the post for personal reasons a year ago.

Besides enjoying huge respect in the US, Waldrum is no stranger to women's football on the global stage as he had handled Trinidad and Tobago and the US U23 side.
Deep concerns emerged over the American's terms of engagement with Nigeria hours after the University of Pittsburgh hinted he will retain his headship role with Pitt Panthers.

However, the former coach of Houston Dash and the University of Notre Dame has immediately moved to declare his full-time commitment to guiding the team to long-term success.

"I want everyone to know that I am extremely excited about being your coach for the Super Falcons," Waldrum told Goal.

"It's been a dream of mine for some time now. I appreciate Mr [Amaju] Pinnick and his faith in me and our staff to bring the Super Falcons to new heights. 

"I also understand the full commitment that it takes for my time, for training camps, games, scouting, player management, staff development, and of course team development. 

"These expectations are very clear and I'm anxious to get started. In fact, I will be the one pushing the federation for more opportunities to prepare and train, I'm quite sure. 

"I've already been working and have a ten-year plan I'm anxious to share with the federation in order to prepare our young players in the country now for future years as national team players. 

"Our stars of the 2027 and 2031 World Cups are between 10-12 years old currently, so let's get them in the proper environment now."

After Tuesday's local media outcry over the conditions of Waldrum's appointment, the American's Twitter account was suspended - a shocking development he provided an explanation for.

"As for my social media, I'm working on one for the Super Falcons now," he said.

"I hope to have it up very soon. I'm looking forward to meeting you and all the others very soon."

Even though the duration of his contract are still unclear, Waldrum is expected to lead the Super Falcons to the 2022 African Women's Cup of Nations and qualify for the 2023 Women's World Cup.

NCAA has the best young talent in the country but it's usually best talent wins. So in the end it is basically about recruiting of players.

Some top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are expected to meet in Abuja this morning to brainstorm on the terms of contract for newly appointed Super Falcons coach, Randy Waldrum. The NFF announced the American on Monday as the new handler of the Falcons as replacement for former handler, Thomas Dennerby, who resigned in 2019. The football house did not mention the duration of the contract and financial details of the deal.

There were media reports that Waldrum would retain his job in the U.S. as head coach of Pittsburg University women’s team, despite his new challenge of overseeing the Nigerian women national team.

The Guardian learnt yesterday that some top officials of the NFF, particularly those in the Technical Committee, would meet in the federal capital, Abuja, today to discuss among other things, the duration of the contract and mode of operation for the coach.

NFF left the recruitment of Randy Waldrum for a company to decide. Now they want to meet and deliberate on the terms and period of his contract. It is either members of the board were not carried along or Pinnick did the arrangement himself. We are in for a loooong thing in this country.

That said, the USA still rules women's football. But they discover their players way earlier than the NCAA level. Remember there is still U17 to play and those are high schoolers.

As for the senior team there is a whole league at their disposal. Getting a senior call while in college is extremely rare. They even have players overseas.

Bro, I suggest you take look at the 1991 World Cup US Women Champion team. Most of the players listed below have started playing for the US national team while still in the university. For example, Mia Hamm was still a colligate player in UNC when she featured for US in 1991 world cup. As much as I would have liked to see a Nigerian coach such as Peter Dedevo in this position for grassroot recruiting, I think Waldrum could bring such sense of bringing raw talents to the team.

I am not saying he won't come good but this is a torrid appointment. When we see the wrong thing we have to say it.

He is not better than any local coach. Someone that cannot qualify Trinidad to the gold cup is now better than Okon who won the AWCON and guided Nigeria to the U20 World cup semi finals? That's just ridiculous.

Super Falcons duo of Evelyn Nwabuoku, and Tochukwu Oluehi have arrived in Spain to team up with their new Spanish Reto Iberdorla side, CD Pozoalbense ahead of the first game of the 2020-2021 season.

Their arrival was confirmed by the club on their social media handles with their picture and comment.

Kanu hits eighth goal of the season for Linköping

Super Falcons forward, Uchenna Kanu scored her eighth goal of the season for Swedish Dammallsvenskan side, Linköping as they dispatched Djurgården by three un-replied goals on Saturday, www.kick442.com reports.

Kanu scored Linköping’s third goal at the Stockholms Olympiastadion in a comfortable match week 19 win.
Frida Leonhardsen Maanum scored two goals in the 40th and 50th minutes respectively for Linkoping before Uchenna Kanu’s strike.

Kanu has scored eight league goals for Linköping in her first season in the Swedish Dammallsvenskan after joining the club from Spanish Iberdrola side, Sevilla.

Ebere Orji saw 78 minutes of action for Linköping before she was replaced by Rachel Hill.

The Olof Unogård side occupied the fourth position on the Dammallsvenskan table with 36 points in 19 games, nine points behind league leaders, Göteborg. They will host Faith Ikidi-Michael’s Pitea in their next game on November 1.

Tochukwu Oluehi and Evelyn Nwabuoku were in action for their Reto Iberdorla side, CD Pozoalbense in their debut game as their side earned a 5-0 win over FF La Solana, www.kick442.com reports.

The former Rivers Angels players didn’t start the tune-up game but were introduced in the second half of the comfortable win for CD Pozoalbense.

Naomie scored the first goal of the game in the 16th minute. Rocio doubled CD Pozoalbense’s lead in the 32nd minute while Karla made it 3-0 in the 44th minute before Oluehi and Nwabuoku were introduced in the second half to have a feel of their first game since joining the Spanish side from Rivers Angels.

Two more goals by Rocio in the 75th minute and Marin three minutes later sealed a 5-0 win for CD Pozoalbense.

CD Pozoalbense will kick off its Reto Iberdorla campaign against Cordoba later this month in their quest to gain promotion to the top flight.
