I see a bunch of selfish people on this thread.
People are asking questions about admissions and assistantships but are being ignored by the ones who are either trying to book interview dates or have gotten visas.

The general mentality is that the person will come and take the portion of his own assistantship or funding.

It’s just like some dude here who went to US to study with borrowed money and refused to come back then got married either hook or crook to be able to stay grounded there but they are now preaching for some folks with different advice not to leave naija and study abroad instead of telling them how to do the right thing that will work out for them. They even go extra miles to condemn people with good intention plans, I wonder if the plan ain’t friendly why haven’t dey return grin grin grin

Hello House,
I just got a visa appointment now 4th of January is available for lagos consulate..and my program will start by 11th of January....i hope I can still meet up if I am in opprtune to get a visa?
I think January isn't such a bad date but if you want a early date you can send them a mail to make your intention known, wait for days to hear from but if you didn't hear from them you can send a reminder mail to them okay.

Hi Guys, i have already submitted a Ds160 for Abuja embassy however i was unable to find any near dates. Therefore I’m interested in trying the Lagos embassy, will I need to create and submit a new DS160 for Lagos embassy?
Yes, you would have to fill another DS-160 for Lagos.

Hi Evans... Congratulations. Please I have a question. I have just been offered Graduate assistantship at LSU however the program director it worried that I might not be able to meet up with the program by January, he has said he will give me a letter stating the offer, now my question is must the assistantship reflect on my I-20 or I can send a statement to request I-20 and then present the assistantship award letter at the embassy.? Did your own I-20 state your assistantship ?
Thank you

Assistantship on the i-20 is enough. Rarely has the US embassy entertained documents that is trying to influence their appraisal of the applicant, except where requested by them. Have all your documents intact, but prepare for your interview.

Make sure the assistantship is documented on your i-20. If you are offered asstantshi, tell your school to share a softcopy of the i-20 (in case hardcopy is to be sent to you for your interview). Once you get the i-20, pay visa fee, sevis fee, and then request for appointment from Lagos consulate through email. Let us hope abuja embassy will open in November.

All the best!

Is this how appalling FedEx service is? Last scan update on my shipment is one made on last week Friday morning. Very terrible! I don’t even know when my I-20 will be delivered now

Even eshipglobal hasn’t got any response from them.

They have over 4000 schools in the US and you want someone to send a list to you based on a criterion. If I may ask you, if that list really exist, how much do you think it should worth? My advice, you don't need any list. There are countless schools in the US that doesn't require official transcript. By the time you check 10,
I'm sure you will see atleast four. Now imagine what you can achieve by checking 50. It would probably take 20minutes.
Alright .. thanks

I had a similar experience, keep calling their customer service number and demanding for your document. They are very sluggish and annoying. I had to tell them to give me their office address to pick it up myself before I could get a headway and even the dispatch guy that came to drop it was rude. DHL was the best when I used it, I never had cause to call them

Hello all,

Please who has an idea how to Change my interview location from Abuja to Lagos on my DS-160? I haven’t submitted yet, and I was able to book an interview for Lagos (I initially wanted Abuja). I also changed my location from the login page and I was able to login, but I don’t know if that’s all.

Before submitting, there's a place to review each section. You should be able to change to Lagos

Calm down okay, you can do this. First you need to pay your sevis and visa fees. Next print out your I-20 and all your other documents. Fill in your ds form, start reviewing interview questions and come up with a game plan.

You need to relax. Nobody owes you anything, not their time, not their advice, nothing! Calling them selfish is unfair.

So many people here are busy with other things and only come here in their free time. You don’t expect them to answer every single question. At the same time, you should understand that so many people like me have been waiting the whole year for the embassy to open up. They just did and all of my attention is on that. Maybe you should be patient until all the visa interview rush ends, then focus would be returned to admission applications.

Curious2020:
Pls someone should create a thread " General USA UG and PG Admissions enquiries", it seems like this thread is full of selfish people who have gained admission, some are in the US, some are just concerned about getting their visa. Let's find our square root!

Nigerians are selfish, check quora you'd find oyinbo e.g: Tom Stagliano, Chris Lee e.t.c that are very passionate about answering your questions. I messaged them they replied enthusiastically, but I messaged a Nigerian girl from loyola Jesuit who got into darthmouth for her UG studies walahi she snobbed my message cry even when they're very busy, the oyinbo man Will always answer my questions. Naija let's be selfless oo, because later una go dey blame "Buhari", at ur own level what help did you render to those in need? Just to type and answer ppl question you do like say u no see. Na wa oo

What exactly is your question?
I asked if I can pay for the css profile using a Nigerian Bank, den drDoom3 answered yes. I asked how will I do that? I didn't get further answers.

I also recall asking if there's anyone who gained admission for UG studies, if yes, did come with full funding and the name of the school, finish... no answer again.

See, this application knowledge is not gotten in a day. It takes hours of research. Nairaland is just to see if anyone has any alternative idea or if you have a unique situation, but the bulk of the work has to be done by you.

The questions you are asking seem easily gotten from Google. I don't know the answers but I know that if I want to get it, I'll find it.

Put in research first okay
