Topic throws up the conundrum of Who Polices the Police. For example, in this our world of fake news, mass access to information, mass ability to create and output information for mass access and ample doctoring software and such, who is going to guarantee that the supposed State Secretes that this hacking-crew threatens to expose are in fact the actual state secret and not state secrete altered by the hacking-crew to suit their own agenda?

Hacking is a crime

Nigerian government are still very analog, so i see no secret
Hacking is not a crime. There is something called "Ethical Hacking" and there are ethical hackers and it is 100% legal. Ethical hackers usually work for governments and they are among the top 1% best hackers in the world. Do you know why the Army changed mouth about going after and squashing the protesters, to saying that any hoodlum or thug that attacks protesters will be dealt with? It's because Buhari got hacked by Anonymous and they probably have some damaging things on him, and if he fall hands right now and misbehave, he or his government will be exposed in a very bad way. Buhari regime is handicapped right now against protesters and they can only negotiate and bribe their way out of this mess. That's why they are trying to know who the protest organizers are, so if those ones collect 30 pieces of silver and cashout, the matter go die down.

The Twitter account of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has been hacked.

The hackers put up a message threatening to reveal secrets of Nigerian authorities.

“We #Anonymous are out to expose government’s secret and dirty files”, it read.

“Put an #ENDTOPOLICEBRUTALITY #Twitterdown #NBChacked”, the message added.

The website was also not opening as at 9:25 am.

NBC regulates the Nigerian broadcast industry.

The commission says it adopts scientific research methods to gather data, analyze trends in line with the dynamism of the industry and advise government.

NBC receives, processes and considers applications for the establishment, ownership or operation of radio and television stations including cable television service, direct satellite broadcast and others.

When a government or organ of government goes rogue and turn to a Gestapo unit killing and maiming people with reckless abandon, and then finally when their cup is full, people revolt and protest for their safety and security, then one daft government wants to subdue it with force, then the hacking becomes ETHICAL. Ethical hacking has many aspects, and testing the safety of your systems against external actors is just one aspect, whistle blowing is another aspect, and another aspect is deploying hacking as a weapon against Tyranny or Tyrannical governments. So yes, a wicked regime can and should be hacked. It falls under ethical hacking.

I have always known that the incompetence of the Nigerian Government is 2nd to none. But I never knew their ineptitude could reach an outstanding legendary levels where a sitting President of a country with an annual budget of trillions of naira can be hacked like a toddler. This is beyond shameful, it is a total disgrace to the Buhari regime. Buhari needs to sack all the entire heads and managers of the security apparatus of this country. But unfortunately, he's so lackadaisical. If cows are not involved, he just doesn't care. See as Anonymous hack Buhari dey take am catch cruise for Twitter, a whole President of Nigeria sad

They are anonymous not because it is a crime but because of their personal safety. Do you think you will hack a government, reveal their dirty secrets that might expose them as evil or crooks or treasonous to their country's Constitution and then those govt officials involved, who might even be at the highest levels of government will just sit back and be smiling with you? They will send hit squads after the hacker. Even the hacker's shadow sef is not safe grin

You can see that you are contradicting yourself and actually agreeing that what hackers are doing are bad and against the law.

Ethical hackers don't hide.

It is unethical hackers that hide and why are they hiding? From detection and arrest.
