Is it advisable to collect a house in this kind of condition... Its a new building and has very nice qualities(Good houses are not much here based on the environment .. the town is just developing)... But the dampness is making me worried... I looked at all the houses in the area tho.. they are all damp.. is it normal? will it pose a threat in future cos I plan to live there for 2 years

Yes. Dampness is a real problem on the wall.
You can manage it by painting the lower area with a special paint that will help. Keep away your furnitures away from the wall.

@Gbadexy is our paint guru here and he will let you know the required paint.

Unfortunately in this current climate you won’t get far but you can at least get started and motivated.

You’re looking at N1.6M to get to this level. It’s a 2 bedroom plus 1 bedroom flat joined together. I think I can finish it moderately for another N2M.

Just trying to show you a real life exercise instead of theory.

Wow! God bless you. This is encouraging sir

Good luck.

It is not the actual Moderator banning you, it is what we call Spambot. It's a software robot that looks for a particular word in a post and see if it is accepted or not, when not accepted, it bans you. I am not sure how the compile their database of words but it is very lousy.
So the Moderator is actually your friend but the Spambot is not. Hope you understood the concept... Thanks.

Hajji M.

I don’t think it’s a particular word. Most times it looks for a posting pattern (maybe you have links to other websites), or the length is too long.

I’ve been banned many times for innocuous posts I’m thinking that bot is smoking weed lol.

I plan to build a 4bedroom bungalow with a ante room and for 2years
How many blocks , cement and all can I start with
Thanks

Hi wALEY...

Use tha money to buy 1000 blocks @ N180 = 180k
Buy 1 Tipper Sharp Sand @ 35K
Use the balance of 85k to buy Granite.

Money well invested......

THEN start saving for LABOUR MONEY about 200k to get the actual work done. (consider Omo Onile money seperately)

GOODLUCK

Thank you very much sir for the mention.
Damp has health implication as it affects respiration and encourages the growth of mold which also could cause illness.
From the background information about the houses in the area having similar issue, it's apparent the area is waterlogged.
You may apply undercoat about 3 feet round the lower end of the house before painting it.
If the external of the building isn't yet painted, you may use emulsion as the skirting outside with a single light coat of a deep color so that ground water would be escaping to the surface through there.

I recently paint a shop and we use the undercoat but I still have a feeling the area is damp.

I don’t have the after pics of the shop

I mean #825,000 for blockwork to a 3 bedroom flat. About 2750 blocks.

shocked Baba spend this thing na!

You can get 10KVA Japanese Engine for 850k (Soundproof)

‭You can reach Ikenna for that on 0706 210 3238‬

not bad for that price, used or new what is brand of the engine. In considering the price and noise are you also considered the fuel consumption per hour on full load, very important as well.

Undercoat is not a solution but palliative.
The source of the water must be identified and stopped first.
The wall would still be damp beneath the undercoat, it's only sealed from coming onto the surface. The water would find another weak spot to escape though.

Any day, any time I will always choose non-brand names over those big brand names in Nigeria.

Expensive roof without great installer is still a bad roof.

I’ve not done any business with money121 but I’ve known him for a very long time (when Lekki Gardens was just getting started). The truth is “His installations are always outstanding and that’s what make a great roof, not the expensive price tag.”

I’ve bought roofs from the biggest brand names in Nigeria and I’ve not seen anything unique to make them better than the other brands (that I’ve tested and used).

Dont take the House.
That Dampness you are seeing, is just starting. It will increase with time.
Then it will affect your health when you start breathing-in dampness and if you have children, it is even worse because some children will become infected with Lung Dampness.

Your Clothes will suffer dampness and it will damage metallic items with rust.
But it is your money, if you have options, just move on to another one.

I know my words may sound somehow those local iron rode called local meet no test. You can ask your supplier or dealer.

Majority company producing it are high scrap iron procurement company, SON burst many of them along Ikorodu to Saagamu, Abeokuta to Songo, Atan to Agbara.

This iron rod are already outside the company in the market now...
