Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano on Saturday visited the three offices of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

The offices are in Ekwulobia, Neni and Awkuzu.

DAILY POST gathered that the governor during the visit granted bail unconditionally to three detainees illegally held by the defunct unit.

Speaking during the exercise, Governor Obiano said, “the Commissioner of Police in the state has released everyone detained illegally, and everyone remanded by the order of the court, will remain there until their cases are determined.”

Obiano had on Thursday sacked hie senior security aide, James Nwafor, who was formerly a SARS boss in the state before his appointment.

He had also promised to free detained persons and also ensure that Nwafor who was accused of killing and maiming many, was brought to book.

Obiano revealed that on Monday, he will inaugurate a panel that will entertain public petitions on the activities of SARS in the state, adding that the panel will be headed by a retired Chief Judge.

All Governors must visit SARS gulags in their state and free all illegally detained people, and transfer the criminals to the regular prison cells to await their trials. Imagine the young man from Jos was brought down to SARS in Anambra so that his people won't even know his location where he will be silently killed.

Secret illegal detention camps, torture camps and secret killing fields should never exist again in Nigeria. The the souls of innocent people shot and killed in cold blood in these centers rest in peace!

Kudos to Governor Obiano for living up to his pledge of shutting down all SARS illegal detention centers and gulags in his state.

He went there for photos and cheap publicity. If he was serious he would be asking the Police Commissioner to resign for illegal detention.
Things don't change because we don't ask people to resign. The governor don't have power to sack CP, but let something happen to his children you will know that they can make things to work.
When we make people to resign the next person to take that position will ask for knowledge and ideas from experts and take actions and will put in all necessary actions.
Do you want to tell me that IGP didn't see all these illegal acts by the police? He did but choose to pretend as if he didn't see it they know, and if he pretends not to know he should be sacked immediately. However, we have a brain-damaged President who would not act because he loves the IGP's foolish attitude to policing.

What does the OC mean by saying that Onitsha prison comptroller does not accept Court-remanded prisoners on Monday. Why? How?

Is Onitsha prison command allowed to determine when to take in new prison inmates undergoing or awaiting trial and when not to? Do they have such powers to determine when to obey and not obey court orders?

That Awkuzu SARS should be declared a crime zone and cordoned off. No one is allowed to enter or leave the premises until investigation is completed. The number of dead bodies they will dig up from there will shock the world
