Hi mama, I used epidural for my first kid. It was unplanned as I had written out my birth plan to include only laughing gas as labour aid, printed it out and instructed my DH to give it to the nurse assigned to me when we arrive labour assessment unit.
When the real labour began, they had Anesthesiologists on standby but I was fixated on the Nitrous oxide, the nurses and doctors were teaching me how to inhale in for pain but it was not working for me. They advised me to get Epidural and I was in so much pain to refuse. I was in labour for 3 days and took epidural on the second.

I’ll start with the Pros:
- Yes it takes your pain away. You’ll only see your pain level rising on the machine as your contractions come but you won’t feel it.

- if you’re having a not so fast labour, you’ll be able to sleep through it if you’re tired.

Cons:
- the experience of the Anesthesiologist matters a lot. It’s a delicate process that if they make a slight mistake, it could lead to life long problems of back pain and spine issues.

- the needle. Let me tell you about HOW LONG that epidural needle is. Regardless of how intense your contractions are, you will have to SIT STILL while they inject it into your back.

- It sometimes for some reason doesn’t work well in the systems of some women. The pain goes away then they start having one sided labour. I had this experience for some hours. Was having contractions on my right side only so the nurse helped me overcome the pain by upping the dose and helping me lie properly.

- it will numb your body and if you need to be active to help progress labour, you won’t be able to once you get the epidural. You’ll basically be confined to the bed

- that numbness means once it time to push, you might find it hard to push since you won’t feel it.

This is my opinion. Mamas did I leave anything out?

Hello Sabi Mamas, please can someone check a baby gender on week 17? Is it possible or one need to check on 20th upwards

Week 17 might be too early. But week 19-21 is fine. Other Mama's will say more about it if I wrong.

Hi mama, I was induced along side other mamas after having passed my due date. Their contractions started very early after placing misoprostol under our tongues. They gave us the first dose before 10 am.
I started feeling contraction around 5pm though not strong. The main contraction started around 7 pm. I laboured till the next day. I was stuck at 8/9 cm.
Unfortunately, I was rushed for an emergency CS.
I experienced both labour pain and CS pain but I'm happy I came out alive with me live baby.
Don't be afraid mama, labour can start before the said date. Try walking and kpekusing. Safe delivery.

This movie is a must-watch for every mother & father. A young boy was being sexually abused by his mothers secretary. May God give us the grace to be sensitive to our kids & train them the right way.

Thank you so much for your very detailed explanation. I can see the cons far outweighs the pros. I will just put it to God in prayer then. Thanks again for your time. I appreciate

I'm scared already because of the pain but I'll like to know how long it will take,so I can brazen up

Induction for me was both sweet and sweet, I don't want to scare you. The truth is, its more painful than falling into labour naturally. I was induced at 42 weeks+3 days but that was after membrane sweep, drinking of castor oil. Mine was done at exactly 6.05. p.m. I was advised to take a walk within the hospital premises which I did till around 9.p.m or thereabout. So I vacated to my bed when I got tired thinking I would be able to sleep but NO, that was the beginning of the beautiful journey that brought forth my Princess. Hubby was there I must confess. The contractions started at around 10 p.m and it became almost unbearable been a FTM. I screamed as much as I could but the contraction wouldn't stop. I was checked by a doctor at around 1 am and was told I might give birth before daybreak because of the way I was progressing. To cut the long story short, I was rushed to labour room at around 5.a.m when one of the nurses on duty confirmed I was already 8cm dilated. I got to 10 c.m an hour later and pushed out my "ALL THAT MATTERS" at 6.25 am. So mine lasted for about 12 hrs, 20 minutes to be precise. My dear, just pray that labour progresses without a threat to you and baby.

I'm already preparing my mind for another as my EDD is just in 5 days with no sign of labour at all. Pray to God and prepare your mind for it. You'll forget the pains the moment you see your baby. All the best momma.
