This assertion may be absolutely correct.Prisoner cant just be walking majestically out of a heavily guarded place like that.I have seen attempted prison break and the heavy shooting that followed it.Today's own was a planned event in Benin.

Why were no shots fired?
Don't the warders have access to live ammunition specifically for situations like this?

Ask him that

So that you can start lynching wardens abi?

Hmmmm, okay that's possible... But it's very unusual that there is no armed security in that prison.

If it were that easy for prisoners to escape, they would have been doing it long before now.

And I don't believe that a protester (or hoodlums posing as protesters) could have access to the prison from outside without any help from the inside. Reason am...

You're funny... Those questions are investigative, not in anyway advocating for the use of force.

You mean to tell me, people with no weapons broke into a prison, then proceeded to let out the prisoners inside... and you won't ask questions? grin

First of all, do you even know the prison we are talking about here?
The walls are almost two stories high from the outside and the front access is barricaded like a fortress.

From the videos I saw, it was prisoners that were at the top of those walls, not protesters... Meaning they were able to set themselves free and then proceed to climb the walls from inside the prison before jumping/escaping out the other side.

No hoodlums (or protesters) gained access into the compound – every video on the internet is showing the outer perimeter of the fence.

Question again is, how were the prisoners able to access the fence without any warder or security stopping them?

When Boko Haram sacked prisons and police posts how did it happen?

Conditions of anarchy lead to all kinds of scenarios and jail breaks are more likely to succeed when such situations occur.

Wardens depend on the police for back up.

No one anticipates for road blockades married with police suppression.

Whatever the citizens see they take.

It is a lie because one of the warders there just returned home this evening with a swollen eye

As he narrates to us that the inmates attacked them

Tore his cloth and took his money

One of the inmates ran home naked

How did the inmates have access to the waders?

And beating the waders is a good ploy to distract people's attention from them.

The beating does not absorb the warders.

Infact, arrest the warders and the truth would come out.

The same Boko Haram that has almost the same grade of ammunition as the Nigerian Army?
Is it police and prison that will be their problem? Lol

We're talking about unarmed protesters (or hoodlums) here, and maybe you should just watch those videos again.

At first, I thought it was the protesters that were at the top of those walls.
It was actually prisoners – some went through the barb wires and jumped down in one video, and in another video, some used the roof of what looks like a guard post to descend.

All the above is even inconsequential if someone can't explain how these prisoners alone with security inside a prison were able to get to the top of the prison fence in the first place.

The report below reads like damage control cheesy

I thought they said earlier there were no guns or casualties involved. Where is all this report now coming from?

cc: Golan007, Homeboiy

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), has confirmed the jailbreak in Benin and Oko prisons in Benin City by hoodlums on Monday.

This was disclosed in a statement by the NCoS spokesperson, AC Njoku.

According to the statement, investigations have begun at NCoS to search for the escaped inmates.

PREMIUM TIMES gathered that the hoodlums, numbering over 100, broke open one of the cells and freed several inmates in the process.

Several persons sustained gunshot injuries as an armed squad of prison officials engaged the suspected hoodlums in a gun duel.

This newspaper reported that the hoodlums had earlier gathered along Sapele Road beside the prison as early as 7 a.m, setting bonfires and blocking road users particularly motorists.

“Custodial centres were attacked this morning by suspected protesters under the #ENDSARS protests in Benin and Oko in Benin,” it said.

It condemned the protesters for their non-peaceful, and violent destructive actions.

It said the exact figures of escapees and casualties are yet to be confirmed and will be communicated after preliminary investigations.

I like the response of this journalist below, very factual.

A journalist, Fisayo Soyombo, who spoke with PREMIUM TIMES said the jailbreak in Benin was stage-managed by unknown persons.

“This was stage managed, who did this I cannot tell you, because these people are smart. It’s not possible without the collusion of the insiders without proper ammunition,” he said.

“Hoodlums that are not well stocked in terms of ammunition cannot from outside launch a jail break of that magnitude,” he said.

“I read in a report that hoodlums started gathering around 7 am around the prisons. In any prison in Nigeria, once there is unrest outside, any slightest scene of danger outside, what the prison wardens do is to order all inmates back into their cells and they lock them up,” he said.

“The event you saw in the video of the outbreak is not a natural occurrence, I can tell you confidently that that was not a natural occurrence,” he added.

“If these protesters were sighted at 7 am then the prison authorities would have locked the inmates up,” he added.

“This means that if the protesters like, they should break all the walls of the prisons down, the inmates will still be in their cells unable to escape.”

“Another thing is that prisons in Nigeria have security including police officers and wardens with guns.

“The number of people I saw in that video cannot escape without any casualties. It’s not possible that the scores of inmates are running away and no police officer or warden guarding the prisons, who have guns shot at one of them,” he said.

Well I guess you've been following this jailbreak news since morning, did you hear anything about casualties or a gun duel?

I think they realize people are starting to figure out it was an inside job, and they are staging things and making up stories more than ten hours after the first incident happened.
Makes no damn sense...

Stop being deceived.
Many of you come on nairaland lick lies that are melting out of her twitter fingers.

A lawyer friend who happens to know a prison comptroller salaid the security architecture of the prisons is armed men being positioned outside were attacked in two cycles by some protesters bearing guns which made them flee and inside area of the prison manned by civil servants had to hide themselves from the ravaging protesters.
Its not a inside job like many conspiracy theorist would want to claim.

Mrs Kemi is just lying to you guys.

Its not "maybe" it is what happened.

If you've been to a prison yard either minimum or maximum security, you will know that no protester could have attempted going there to free inmates without killing prison guards in droves.

We know this was staged. Which prisoner wears designer shirt, had headphone and carry traveling bag? Oshiomole is also culpable in Edo attacks. We need the identity of the chief warden of that prison asap.
