You dey mind that guy. A jail break that was broken from the inside across the fence. The supposed inmates were those with light sentence or awaiting and others were inplanted touts to act the role.

Finally something good has come from Kemi

Shes lying. I'm from that state. SHE IS LYING!!!

The protesters approached, the guards ran away fearing that if they killed the civilians, it was more trouble since they won't get back up from the police or army because of the number. Many of the guards who attempted to resist are in critical conditions in the hospital now. So the wardens seeing that they have been over run by the mob, willingly opened the doors in order to be safe. They didn't do it because they're tired of any corruption. They did it because it was the only option left before their lives

Just as am not on ground as Kemi but i watched a live clip of the jail break from Channels TV. I know that area very well in Benin as i used to work nearby before i left Benin. From the video some well organized hoodlums staged a planed storming of the prison from outside as the clip shows. The prisoners took advantage of the chaos to break jail. From what i can conclude is that anarchy has seemly loomed in Benin in view of the intensity of the riots hijacked been by hoodlums. It seems police and warders have since deserted their posts around the vicinity of the prisons and environs as there is a police area command some 20 mins drive from the prisons (Oba market police stn that was said to be burnt is also close by) based on the take over by hoodlums. Apparently there were some prison guards in mulfti at the end of the prison near their barracks trying to salvage the situation.Somebody was heard over the video saying the guard should be rushed, it seems that when the situation was out of control they melted away. The warders knowing the velocity of some of the crimes committed by the prisoners would not deliberately release them back to the society. Something is amiss in benin,as i stated anarchy is fast looming, this is not a protest but criminality unfolding.

It's not true that there were no gunshots. On Channels evening news yesterday, I watched the video where a security personnel shot and killed one of the prisoners who was caught up in between the barbed wires on the fence while trying to jump down.

It's difficult to obtain facts about the situation on ground when emotions are running high everyone seems to be about promoting an agenda that suits their personal sentiments.

Imho, the plausible scenario is that the jailbreak was initiated by hoodlums/protesters outside but aided and abetted by some prison officials or relative lack of adequate security resistance.
sir ignore them..I dey benin and have been rainging curses on wizkid for promoting this..if the peaceful protesters ment well they would have forced the prisoners back and let them face justice there is strength in unity but instead of forcing them back they where all celebrating I watched the video too.now na so so rape we go dey see for delta and edo..most of them go don reach delta now with the help of relatives who pretended to be protesters funny country

did the police also set fire to their station?. if the police can run away from their station and leave their guns behind why do you think the wardens can't do the same. we tend to over stretch simple strait forward issues in this country perhaps as a means to hide our conscience from the truth. I'm in Benin and I was privy to what happened. the youths invaded the place and the wardens had to run for dear life. stop creating conspiracy theories and empty propaganda despite the presence of overwhelming evidence people are still saying otherwise. face the truth, the youths who invaded the prisons and police stations are ordinary Edolites, I even saw yourng girls among the crowd taking selfies and recording while the ignominious act was being perpetuated.
stop the propaganda and face the truth. we should accept our mistakes and move on.
all these conspiracy theories will not help anyone nor assuage the situation. we should learn from the situation and make sure such a dastardly occurrence doesn't repeat itself again.

When Boko Haram sacked prisons and police posts how did it happen?

Conditions of anarchy lead to all kinds of scenarios and jail breaks are more likely to succeed when such situations occur.

Wardens depend on the police for back up.

No one anticipates for road blockades married with police suppression.

Whatever the citizens see they take.
Boko Haram and protesters or inmates or hoodlums are they the same ni? No gunshots from a jailbreak and u are still living in limbo, wake up, it was fully organized to paint the protest bad, na wa oo baba carry a whole Boko Haram enter matter, e no tally

It is a lie because one of the warders there just returned home this evening with a swollen eye

As he narrates to us that the inmates attacked them

I was told by a close friend almost the same thing this morning that the police deliberately left the prison yard.......they were virtually no where to be seen when the incident happened. so it was a corroboration I sense.

Who told you the prison break had to do with Buhari, are you in your right sences. Dont protesters know were the govt house and these that are embezzling money are. A protest that has since been hijacked by criminals and hoodlums aplenty in the state. Is this how the protests have been conducted in other states. have police stations and prisons been burnt and prisoners freed. endsars protesters have lost control of the situation in edo state. you should admit it was organized in the first place by criminal minded elements. are you aware of the curent anarchy unfolding in the state. i believe you dont reside there or not from there that is why you can make all these noise. before now the state has been held bondage to violent crimes and all.A majority of these held in the prisons are armed robbers, rapists, cultists and kidnappers. the likes of these who killed and raped Uwa are released back to the society. how can people openly by corndoning criminality in form of protests. the implication of the jail breaks and destruction of police stations in edo state are farfeteched. People have the rights to protest but not now make the fight for their agitations baseless. In launching a man hunt for the escaped prisoners and criminal elements that are causing chaos there would be high handleness asuch. already freedom of movement is being restricted creating great hardships to the already improvised citizens of the state. the state is one of the poorest states in the countries no factories or industrialization. if not for the overseas issue that saved the state. the state is a write off.

crackhaus:

You're funny... Those questions are investigative, not in anyway advocating for the use of force.

You mean to tell me, people with no weapons broke into a prison, then proceeded to let out the prisoners inside... and you won't ask questions? grin

First of all, do you even know the prison we are talking about here?
The walls are almost two stories high from the outside and the front access is barricaded like a fortress.

From the videos I saw, it was prisoners that were at the top of those walls, not protesters... Meaning they were able to set themselves free and then proceed to climb the walls from inside the prison before jumping/escaping out the other side.

No hoodlums (or protesters) gained access into the compound – every video on the internet is showing the outer perimeter of the fence.

Question again is, how were the prisoners able to access the fence without any warder or security stopping them?

Where's my apology?

Reads amateurish, like an ill-informed piece of journalism, like someone passing off conspiracy talk by one or two warders as fact or just commenting for relevance sake. I find it impossible that warders would free prisoners unless the warders’ themselves are criminals. Sorry, but her entire story is implausible.

Unleash hoodlums and convicts on the innocent citizens... Their houses are well protected and guarded.
Who will suffer when these convicts begin raiding people's homes and businesses for survival?

Such wicked government
