Lord have mercy! Just when I thought we've reached the brink of this. Now that little flame of hope has been shattered as I remain confined and redundant. Unbelievable!
The nation is inflam, people are out there fighting for the betterment of this nation, you here crying of school that you will finish and keep the certificate at home.. Your politicians that kept you at home for many months have their children schooling abroad. Do you think if their children were schooling in Nigeria this strike would last more than few weeks?guy think deep.

Why? For withholding their salaries in the midst of lockdown?
For clamoring for revitalization of universities
Or for demanding that their earned Allowances be paid.

They refused to register on IPPIS that's why their salaries where withheld...

People are out there fighting a specificity (against police brutality), not generality (bad governance). If this fight was for better governance entirely, then it'd be an onus on every Nigerians to fight the fight because we suffer from bad governance on daily basis. But this particular fight against police brutality is a fight we're not sure we can win, because it's a definite thing worldwide that police are generally always brutal in a corrupt society. Nigeria is one of the most corrupt country in the world and hence it's expected that police officers here should be the most corrupt, which eventually is obvious. Hence for police brutality to end in Nigeria, it must start by ending bad and corrupt governance. Is #EndSARs about ending bad and corrupt governance? No!

Why then should we not resume school again?

I think both FG and ASUU don't know what's good for them, youths are left at home for 7good months idle, what do they expect, they better find a solution or else things might get worse

Thread seen...
Some who have refused to be schooled but are all round commentators on issues they've got little or no knowledge on, keep making this statement: "How can ASUU be dictating to his employer on how he should be paid? I trust Buhari will deal with them."

Congratulations and Weldone! Buhari is really dealing with them. Meanwhile, this is what Nigerian law says;

"The Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Act 2003 (otherwise called the Universities Autonomy Act No. 1, 2007) enacted by the National Assembly and signed into law on 10th July 2003 and later gazetted by the Federal Republic of Nigerian Official Gazette No. 10, Volume 94 of 12th January 2007 as Act No. 1 of 2000, has vested the powers of managing personnel and payroll system issues in the hands of each university’s governing council".

Has this Act been repealed by Buhari's government and replaced with "OAGF is vested with the power to manage the payroll of all public universities through IPPIS"?

Lets set our emotions, loyalty and interest aside and behave like educated people. Presidents will come and go, and Nigeria will remain.

Last Week, Federal Government made an offer to ASUU to suspend the 7 months strike.
As required by ASUU rules, branches are expected to meet and vote on government’s offer to academics.
Government offered to do the following:

- release 30 billion out of the 40 billion demanded by ASUU as Earned Academic Allowances EAA before nov 6 2020. The remaining 10 billion Naira will be released in batches between 2021 and 2022.

20 billion university revitalization fund to be made available by January 2020

- streamlining of EAA into monthly salaries. A committee will be set up to conclude their findings before 31st December 2020
-salary renegotiation committee to conclude before 31 December 3020

- UTAS to replace IPPIS for university workers

Someone has obviously advised govt that the ongoing endsars protest is effective on the basis of students being on ground due to the ongoing ASUU strike.

That said,

- payment of withheld salaries .

We are tracking resolutions by ASUU branches across the country. The zonal leaders will meet tomorrow to harmonize these resolutions which will be presented to government on Wednesday.

That said, students have to continue to join protest because this protest affects them the most.
All of promises ofyouths being the future leaders of the country has been nothing but lies.

Imagine Buhari that was a youth president in the military regime as a youth is now the one still ruling us as an old man.

We need a youth inclusive democracy. This is based on youths desired by the youths not their regular henchmen and Yes men.

ASUU FUTO Owerri.
Voted for full release of EAA (40 billion)
Renegotiation of salary/ mainstreaming of EAA can be done within a week
Withheld salaries must be paid before resumption.

Even if others voted for suspension of strike... ASUU FUTO will vote against suspension.

But sha, they stand is that FG don't honour their words neither do they fulfill their promises.
