This can happen any day. There are touts and extremely poor people all around Nigeria, who would do anything to "eat". The hoodlums are not part of the protesters seeking a reform of the police and a better Nigeria overall. Personally, I know so many people who aren't poor, I mean having from hundreds of thousands to several millions in their bank account who are actively involved in these protests. I'm involved in the protests too. Are you telling me such people will go ahead and loot a Coca Cola truck?? Come on na...
am also involed but how do we ensure hoodlums like this dont hijack the prostest?cos it seems we dont have any strategist to do that...the genuine protester dont have control over the hoodlums and notting concern police https://www.nairaland.com/6192854/endsars-protesters-attacked-rrs-truck

Now that's hard, and it has been my headache too. Meeting at few locations in good numbers can help, instead of scattering all over.

The government sends people to disrupt and discredit the protests, some poverty stricken people also use this opportunity to steal, erect road blocks and collect money from people to allow them pass, some engage policemen with whom they've had issues before, all to the peril of the aim of the protest. The problems we have in this country ehn... they're just too much.

In all this happenings that is playing out regarding #ENDSARS, the rioting youths are yet to ask the right questions, well, based on my observations.

The questions should be more like;
What are the measures put in place to checkmate or control police excesses?
Are this measures readily available to all?

So some people actually believe that protesters broke prison. Smh!

How? From the videos, the prisoners were released from inside and they scaled the fence to escape. Who provided them with the leverage they needed to escape from inside?

Someone inside the prisons took advantage of the protests to perfect a job they had been hatching for long.

Go and find out from people that were in Uniben in 1989 how it was done. That was during the time of IBB, a mean dictator. This generation dey think say na dem start protest because there are now mobile phones to post it on social media and take selfies.

That said

I think many of us are just being hysterical sha
Nigeria is NOT going to cave in or disintegrate

If the fallout of June 12 or the civil war did not cave the country
Nothing can

But what we are really at risk of, is unrest from the masses due to the increased suffering due to bad leadership
But this unrest does not have the wherewithal to snowball into what will scatter the country totally to the point of disintegration

That's why the Buhari govt should surprise us and change course
For the betterment of the country

They are being hysterical because dem never really see protests before. The only protests they have seen is NLC price hike protests. Dem no see protests for June 12 or protest under IBB and Abacha.

Lol... end the whole crap? You're talking as if the county was in a good condition before. I pray you never experience SARS brutality. it's terrible bro, and it has to end. Do you know how well Nigeria would have grown if not for bad governance? There has to be a change.
If stuffs like this (unending protests) don't happen, things would get much worse.

I'm fortunate to witness the beginning of democracy in Nigeria, and I've watched things deteriorate as the years pass by. It's far from normal. Some countries are getting better. Look at Rwanda, right here in Africa. Leadership has a big role to play in the change we seek. An annoying attitude I'm seeing recently in many people is selfishness. Once they have one Camry, a wife and two kids, they don't care about anything again. It's wrong, let's fix this country before it gets worse. My 2 cents. The protests continue till we see "visible changes"

Each time I hear youth saying they are doing what their parents couldn't do because of this one protest, I laugh. Almost 6 days of protest still no military, that would not have happened under IBB and definitely under Abacha and yet during that time was even the height of protest even at the risk of their lives.

Gbam. That is where the youths missed it. They think protests for change is just to gather in one place, play music, dance, eat, sleep, wake up and continue. What were the strategies to counter the hoodlums if the protests get into the inner streets where hoodlums reign supreme?.

What this generation did is very commendable and brave

No matter what some want to say
That is aimed at belittling or discrediting their efforts is being ignored, because like we say in igbo, be your own cheer leader

That said
June 12 revolt was commendable
It culminated in the end of IBB
No one should belittle that feat as well....

Yes, commendable, but making it look like those before them folded their hands and watched the country derail is not true. Also please note, June 12 protest was not the only protest that period. Sowore is popular now before he was at the forefront of a lot of protest then.

Anyway, this na TB thread.

Last week on my way back from work in the night, i drove to where the protesters were at Alausa. Free passage and access to where they are camped playing football in the night. i Just laff. I said to myself that this generation are very lucky that we are in civilian regime. Look at how they just exposed themselves to easy pickings. Try such under IBB or Abacha.

Maybe they need to go and read about NADECO and people like Kokori and Kudirat Abiola. They formed an online radio called 'Soro Soke' and they are clapping for themselves not knowing that there was NADECO radio during June 12 times.
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by 9jatriot(m): 9:40am On Oct 20, 2020
You guys keep missing the point, I personally have not met one person who does not support #endsars, what dissenting voicing are saying or trying to remind you of is that nature abhors vacuum. Without a proper transition and replacement plan, the gains of the initial process of protest will be derailed. That is not the same as being okay with the present realities of having a Camry. Anyone with a sense of history will know that when prolonged, hoodlums who have been envying that your Camry will seize the opportunity to destroy it, afterall, na endsars protest.

The baby boomer generation failed this country and deserve no respect

Fact !

It's the two generations after them that I can say tried to turn things around
And these two generations are 49 and below (mostly )

The boomer generation left a failed and dilapidated country for us
And are shameless (largely so)

However if the current ones fail as well
They will also be categorised as those who failed the country too
