You see why I've been saying it is no longer a protest but civil unrest? Infact it legally ceased to be a protest the moment curfew was imposed.

It's unfortunate that the situation has reached this level. However, Nigerian army acted within the ambience of the law.

Section 33 sub 2 of Nigerian constitution has justified their act:

The section states;
(2) A person shall not be regarded as having been deprived of his life in contravention of this section, if he dies as a result of the use, to such extent and in such circumstances as are permitted by law, of such force as is reasonably necessary –

(a) for the defence of any person from unlawful violence or for the defence of property:

(b) in order to effect a lawful arrest or to prevent the escape of a person lawfully detained; or

(c) for the purpose of suppressing a riot, insurrection or mutiny

Is Peaceful Protest the same as riot, insurrection or mutiny?

Wow I thought we were friends? Lol

Anyway, no right thinking human would support the massacre of peaceful protesters. I'm only worried for the nation and its people cos there would be no infrastructure and jobs to return to after all this. If this continues, you may not have another opportunity to quote me cos the internet would go down.

MTN already has reported a breakdown in Lekki axis.

You are destroying what belongs to you, the rich don't enter BRT.

These youths needs to calm down and think. Try and engage the govt in a meaningful way. If you destroy everywhere, have you not destroyed the future you claim to be fighting for. . What a shame.

i agre with u but this fight is for us all and we shouldn't discourage others by calling them cowards instead we encourage them to join the peaceful protest which will benefit us all. The independence we enjoy today ppl died for it, the whites didn't wake up one morning to abolish slavery, ppl fought and paid with their blood. If we continue to endure this corruption it will remain for as long as the ppl keep shut. I morn all out heroes who sacrificed their lives for this they will forever be remembered. I will rather die for something than live for nothing!!!

You spoke well....

Anyone who wants a change should join and show it,not typing insensitive comments on SM.

Just see what Federal Government incompetency has cost the country, in a saner country at most 48 hours peaceful protest will keep the president of the country standing up in response to live interview and addressing the nation... But in our country, buhari and is cartel believes they can always bend the people.. Okay.. Let it been know that Federal government ordered the killing of her citizens on the 20.10.20

Sensible post from a responsible person not like some unfortunate people here on Nairaland.. A president is out of the country when his country is on fire without even addressing the nation

Take away your unreasonable quote.

The Youths killed yesterday were unarmed and were not violent in any way.

The hoodlums that were paid by politicians to unleash violence in the city were protected by security agents and there was nothing done to them.

Peaceful protesters gathered at Lekki with no weapons and no violence. Soldiers attacked and shot at the defenseless youths after switching off the lights to cover the truth.

If you quote this nonesense with your distorted view of the said constitution on the streets, angry youths would not hesitate to give you what you deserve.
my friend don't say what you know nothing about.
What happened yesterday was a confrontation between mopols and armed protesters.
They armed protesters were exchanging fire with the mopols led by soilders.
Those that re on ground re aware that some of the protesters re armed with guns and they escalated the issue

Exactly.

Many illiterate people posing as educated on the streets.

TVC must be insured very well for twice the damages. The Lagos State government will still use public funds to rebuild and others will still give him more money...

Next phase is table negotiations. Violent protests will only claim more lives and properties of innocent people. The government people and political bigwigs won't lose a thing

What Lagos or any part of the country needs right now is not further shedding of blood or destruction of properties. You can't quench violence with violence.
