Do they even have records of those inmates? I have this feeling that once you escape from a Nigerian prison, you will be free for life.

So we have 1875, experienced armed robbers and criminals roaming the streets of Nigeria and we have looted arms from police stations in the civil populace also - it's well with us -

As for the views of all you haters over Asiwaju Tinubu

If your fathers was a somebody as Tinubu is

Why did your fathers not build a staunch persona like Tinubu to be able to stand against the so-called cabal you mentioned

Or are we to admit that in the whole of your region there is no one man as astute as Tinubu to do those things you all look up to Tinubu to do

If God wishes, Tinubu will become president and you and all your ilks will bow before him

Sore losers

Is tinubu bastard your father?

You just proved to us that your useless father is a nonentity.

Tinubu son wannabe.

Why are you this foolish?

Majority of them are awaiting trial on trumped up charges by our useless police and can't make bail or the courts deny them bail based on the allegations .

Pray you never find yourself in such circumstances.

The Nigerian Prison system is meant not to rehabilitate nor house convicts but to put the citizenry in check.

This is why the British built prisons in the center of towns as a warning to any native wanting to surpass them.

The Nigerian state continued with this psychological warfare from there and that is why they never bothered to reform the police or even consider hearing the avalanche of petitions from the public on police corruption and excesses.

I pray you find yourself in such situation so that I can refer to you as a dangerous hardened criminal .

Gov't damanage control. Trying to psycholoyically put it into our minds they still reserve fear, respect and authority.

No correctional services inmate in this Nigeria will ever return. That rotten place, malaria-infested, without toilet facilities and staple food.

I disagree. I have seen prisoners who were released after serving many years in the prison they decided committing another crime intentionally just to go back as they have no life in the outside world and just can't fit in. Some of them have dirty underground business going on within the prisons grin grin

Those whose sentence is between 1-10years remaining will return to complete theirs, I don't expect anyone on death row or life imprisonment to return.
If you are a prisoner and your remaining years is less than 10, it is wise you return o, if you are caught, your sentence will double and you will regret escaping.

let's you have 8 years and the crime self you're even innocent, so you'll return?

Mr rogers, have you taken your meds? Nonsense escapee - what expletives like you are supposed to fight against or make comments against, is what your fickle mind support - how can someone that is fortunate to have assess to the internet support indirectly under the pretext that a blanket statement was made of which, maybe less than 30% of them maybe are awaiting trials, assume this nonsense, the Nigerian educational system is so 4ked that the capacity to read and write is now classified as educated - so in your own, small water filled head, 1875 none are guilty bcoz they made a blanket statement to say they are awaiting trial, for your information even a convicted person at a high court is awaiting trial, if the case is before an appeal court, so also some convicted at a magistrate court is awaiting trial if the case is at the high court - and vice versa ode!

One of the inmates, who gave his name as Alex Ose, 40, a taxi driver, said that he has been awaiting trial since 2014 when he was arrested for armed robbery in the Edo State capital of Benin.

Something seriously needs to be done about our Judicial System. Obviously, it's dysfunctional. How can someone spend 6 years behind bar awaiting trail? Then how long will the trial take?

Our judges and police are cold hearted
