If they don't call of the strike today then let's just forget about school till next year.
I believe they will get over with this week.

Tertiary Education is overhyped in Nigeria. Let our universities be closed for at least five years to enable youth development themselves in other aspects. Universities be churning out graduates no job.

Our youths should go learn something else; they could go into production.
I would have agreed with you, but believe me you can never over stress the importance of education (tertiary education in this case) not everybody is cut out to be an entrepreneur the same way not everyone is cut out for university education. There has to be a midpoint acting as a fulcrum for balance.

This past months since lockdown and this useless strike... anxiety has been my close friend, I watch helplessly as this government destroy things for me....I am tired, they don't even care a bit, nobody cares...God!!!

Option three is a no no for FG,
That is the platform where lecturers have been receiving triple salaries.
Buhari is a very stubborn man, lets hope he listens this time around, it's obvious those universities have been scamming the FG in time past, all in the name of "our Education not to collapse"
Buhari wants to find a lasting solution to it without fear or favour.

That has been the ultimate bone of contention.... Let's see what the outcome of their meeting will be

I doubt if their meeting will yield anything positive because FG is not ready anymore to do whatever it takes for the strike to end and ASUU on the other are also adamant till their demands are totally met.

Only God can help us now cry

Education in Nigeria is in shambles, lecturers be using archaic models to lecture students.

this is the real and direct treat to we the youth of Nigeria but instead we are busy joining longtime graduates to protest #EndSars. what a misplaced priority, true we don't need police brutality here but the timing was absolutely wrong.

For us to stay at home for almost one good year, ASUU should use advantage of endsars to hold them down once and for all
Imagine if students were already in school when all of a sudden palliative just land. That joy and fruitful harvest would have yielded A's n B'scheesy

You won't blame the university lecturers for that you can only work with the equipment given to you. I happen to work in a university myself, I was doing a research work with a student and an equipment that we need to get the analysis done was nowhere to be found in the whole country, we had to send the samples to Canada in other to get the job done. It's not our fault, blame it on the system. I had to write to buy the equipment for my university, that particular equipment is worth about 250m naira and my application was bounced back, now you can understand why ASUU is demanding for revitalization fund to atleast keep up other countries universities, but our politicians insist on looting our funds and sending their kids to foreign universities. But no matter how bad the system is, we still produce some of the best brains in the world.

ASUU and FG, the story continues grin

Their last meeting ended with FG saying all the payments would be done using IPPIS that ASUU should enrol. But ASUU saw through that bullshit because they(ASUU) know it will be game over for them if they enrol.
The only way this meeting today will be successful will be if;
1. ASUU accepts IPPIS for payment of their salaries, earned allowances and revitalization fees( it will hurt ASUU).
2. FG fast track the testing of UTAS and use the platform for the payment ( it will hurt FG).
3. Use the former platform which was Government integration Financial Management information System(GIFMIS) to pay ASUU (nobody gets hurt. win- win cheesy)

The only payment in contention is that if withheld salaries and subsequent payments pending approval of UTAS.

Earned allowance is paid to universities via GIFMIS - no contention here. Universities pay to respective beneficiaries.

Revitalization fund is for ALL public universities in the country. No ASUU member will get a penny out of it. It is for infrastructural development. It is paid via GIFMIS.

Naija, we like to complicate things... The best option I guess is to validate utas and run with it since preliminary tests have been positive
