Hi everyone. I have been refused a US Visa before (Tourist Visa).
On the part of the form where they asked if I’ve been refused before, please how much information should I give there? In the ‘explain’ part.

The reason for refusal was inability to demonstrate strong ties.

If I go into all of these details and explain everything, will it jeopardize my chances of getting the F1 visa this time around?

Thank you

Don’t explain Jack! Just put “214B reason” on the column where they ask for explanation. No need to shalaye anything. Just being curious, how exactly do you know you were refused based on “no strong ties” as you mentioned? Cos the US embassy I know doesn’t tell you reason for refusal you can only make inferences.

However, your B1 refusal has nothing to do with your F1 application. Just make sure you state it there that you were once refused. Ofcus they have that info in your record.

Well, I was refused a B1 visa some years back but today I have my F1. All glory to God. This shall be your testimony. All the best!

You already answered your question. Keep it simple, you do not need to provide too many details.

Hello,

I've been trying to get appointment date for 5 days now for Lagos. The pop up is always no available dates until I get to my limit even after spacing the time till midnight.

Who else got a date in Lagos this week and how did you do it? I'll really appreciate any help/ advice right now.

Thank you.
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by sonofakin: 8:25am On Oct 29, 2020
You can only get a date if a date is available. The problem is not coming from you. All you can do is to keep checking, hoping someone cancels his/her appointment or embassy release new dates. Just check from time to time, sometimes people give updates here too

214B reason is the information you find in the yellow or green form for refusal.

Morning my people,

I sincerely appreciate supports provided in this group. Well done.

I have read some pages but still have some areas not clear to me and seek for your clarifications about a student am sponsoring to study in US

1. The student is going for a master program of about 2 yrs but I-20 indicated study end date to be December, 2021. Is it an error that we need to engage the school to change?

2. The student was sent only electronic I-20. Hope the visa officer will not ask of original copy from the school.

3. Is SEVIS payment required for student dependents to book visa? We observe student SEVIS number is different from her dependents

4. The student and her dependents have previously apply for US Visa (B1/B2) using separate (two) profiles. Is it possible to use one of this profile for F1/F2 application or new application profile has to be created for student and dependent together?

Thanks in advance as u take time out to respond to my questions.

I sent you a mail. I am waiting for your response please

zeeLady:

So for those asking if Abuja embassy is granting emergency VISA appointment even if you are not within the stipulated 60 days of your start date, the answer is YES. YES.

Go and book the normal 2021 date you see there,
Then the option for emergency appointment will pop up for you,
fill the form and include your reasons for wanting emergency appointment,
Attach your 1-20
Attach your SEVIS payment receipt
Submit
They will get back to you within days
The earliest I just booked for someone was Nov 23rd.
Goodluck!

Please who has an idea on any cheap hotel close to the embassy?

No it wasn't written. That guidance was for fall semester. I'm not sure it applies to spring.

This doesn’t matter anymore.

As matter of fact the new I-20 doesn’t state it, well, for most people who got a new I-20 for spring.

Please I have questions about the social media presence question on the application form.

Are there limited numbers one should put up? Which of the social media applications are best to use?

I have nothing to hide on all my social media applications. On Facebook, I belong to a lot of groups that discuss exams and process of getting US license in the health profession I belong to. Will this be an issue? Or what do they look out for on these social media applications?

Thanks for your time.

I really don't know anything about F2 visa. You can ask people that have been there before.

Hello guys, I have a step-sister in the US. Do I list her in the immediate relatives section? I noticed the only options there are: fiance, spouse, child, and sibling...

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Also, will it count against you if you only applied to one school? .. cos reading through the thread, I noticed most people applied to several schools. Thanks
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by Bellaluve(f): 1:37pm On Oct 29, 2020
Next is to pay your SEVIS fee, then visa fee at GTB, then fill out the DS-160, then book a visa interview appointment.
