Sure. My ex’s father said it to my face that he will never watch his daughter marry a poor guy. But babe refused to let me go while she keeps up with me. It didn’t work out breaking up until I cut off means of communication with her, changed my number, social media, house and job. we lost contact completely for months. I had to go that far cos her Dad already threaten if I did not leave his daughter and there’s nobody who’ll come to my rescue if he goes hard on me. I saw her in 2019 already married to someone her Dad friend son. It’s wasn’t a nice chapter of my life cos she’s heavenly sent.
We all moved on and exchanged contact again

If she's older than you, start by addressing her as "aunty". If otherwise, start with "my sister". She will get the message.

The most times when this happens is either the guy initiated the breakup first and wants to call it quits but she has already fallen OR the parents doesn't approve of the relationship which heads majority of this cases.
