who says it's going to get out of control? The same people that said dead bodies would be littering the streets? It's November already. The best Nigeria could do is enforce covid-19 measures, simple and short. Lockdown is dead on arrival in Nigeria, it cannot work, people won't obey it strictly, security outfits will use it to enrich themselves this Christmas. Can u statistically extrapolate the significance of the first lockdown on the daily figures of the NCDC?. Lockdown Nigeria and the next protest would end Nigeria.
The first lockdown was a totally useless endeavour.

It achieved nothing.

Now they want to hit us with a second lockdown.

For what purpose now, if I may ask?

PhiliptheArab:
Personally I think we don't need lockdowns

The problem is the minority of patients that get seriously ill could overwhelm our health sector

When that happens, in a worst case scenario , hospitals might end up turning away patients with other conditions, and we could have people dying from conditions that could have been easily treated.

And when that happens, the economic and social costs would be bigger than that incurred by locking down.

And by the way, working in the health sector myself, I am at risk especially when things get worse.

Prevention is better than cure
so why are you contradicting yourself? Hospitals are already rejecting patients with other health conditions, a friend of mine died because of this. What causes this? Ans= panic. Who spreads this panic? Ans= the government. So far so good we have not experienced any need for lockdown, the predictions have all failed so what's the rationale behind the proposed lockdown considering the peculiarities and circumstances of Nigeria? I'm beginning to think external forces are controlling these events and I hate conspiracy theories but u can't dismiss them now.

They just like to be copying senselessly.

Unfortunately for them, they are not even capable of sustaining a functional lockdown like what is obtainable in europe simply because of disturbing high level of poverty that they government has failed to tackle properly.

To a hungry man, it is better to die of COVID than to die of Hunger.

With that mentality alone, any lockdown imposed on the people with the intention to contain the ''virus'' is always bound to fail woefully.

All of you saying there should be lockdown should take note that during the protest and the killing active cases dropped from 10k to 3k
And number of deaths reduced
As a country Nigeria you know the cost of living and the prices of foodstuffs yet you want lockdown for a country who cant even share pure water to each citizens
I know how ppl are struggling to eat without lockdown so if a lockdown is imposed then the worst of ppl will come out

shocked It may be true.More confirmed cases are on the rise.Yaba infectious disease hospital is already full again
Check NCDC website and do common sense calculations of rates: total infected/national and for state population, proportion discharged, deaths / infected, deaths / admitted, etc

You will discover that this Covid-19 thing is not a major public health problem as they want us to believe. They are merely following scripts from the sponsors. Create fear that isn't there and at the end justify vaccination.

Covid-19 is real but it is not a major issue in our country.

largely true, but there is a risk that you are not looking at. If the disease continues to spread unabated, one of two things can happen over time. We may be lucky and develop a kind of herd immunity OR the virus may mutate and become more virulent, causing more than mild disease. That will be very disastrous. The latter is more likely because of our national spread.

Copy and paste government. Looking for other means of restocking their looted warehouses for 2023 campaign. Criminals. God will punish anybody that initiate or suggest another lockdown.

Those behind the Covid-19 agenda and business clothed in the context of public good will ensure 2nd and other waves happen in the future to cow and stampede the people into their net that is set. They will largely succeed because it is destined to happen in these end times.

The report also found that during the weeks of March 8 and March 15, there was an increase in confirmed cases of COVID-19 among New Yorkers under 18 years of age. The DOHMH estimated there was an increase in prevalence and undetected cases of COVID-19 among youths, which begs the question what role children played in community transmission at the beginning of the pandemic, and how effective school closure is as a mitigation strategy.
