Good morning Nairalanders , especially doctors in the house. I have a very serious case of bad mouth odour that has persisted for a long time, at least 8years.

Sometimes I have to brush as many as three to four times a day and bad enough, it will still be there.

Occasionally, I remove some yellowish smelly stuffs from my throat and after sometimes I see them again. Also of late, I have persistent headaches even without fever, even when I wake in the morning expecting to be refreshed, the ache will still be there. I don't know if these are related.

I have seen two or three doctors and normally there give me antibiotics and recommend mouthwashes. Now it is still here an am worried and depressed.

I am in my late 20s and this has affected my life in ways space will not permit me to write. I just cannot function well anywhere because I cannot talk for fear of the odour. My social life is zero, and I am almost always alone.

Please advice me if you have or know someone who has experienced this, or you are an expert or you know something I can do to be free from this. Its so bad its the only item on my new year prayer. I don't want to spend another year in this. Thank you all in anticipation.

i think i understand u very well, try ALOVERA dental powder for the foul breath - it works like magic but mind you!, that is only helping the foul breath symptom so keep seeing your doctor(Am not a doctor tho, just concerned)

Eat a lot of fruits especially cucumber and water melons they help in cleaning the mouth.

OP, you may have tonsil stones or sinus infection.

You may need to change diet too.

And try seeing a dentist next time.

My neighbor has the same problem.

My advise to him was to try licking GBC air freshner.
(Airwick doesn't really last long.)

Halitosis/bad breath is usually caused by bacteria in the mouth, one of the surest way of dealing with it is to deny the bacteria the enabling environment for thriving by preventing them from having their survival factor- Nutrients. Never ever go to bed without brushing your teeth, and ensure that while brushing you don't quickly rinse your mouth, this is to enable the flouride content of the toothpaste to have ample contact time with your gum, teeth and tongue.

As for the headache there might be an underlying cause except if you have a family history of migraine. Try taking Cafergot (ergotamine) for a while and observe the changes.

I'm not a Doctor or dentist.

But i think the problem of your mouth odor is not from your tooth so brushing them 100 times wont change anything.

You're suffering from tonsil stones, this trapped debris hardens, or calcifies. This tends to happen most often in people who have chronic inflammation in their tonsils or repeated bouts of tonsillitis.

The white milky stuff in your throat is the cause of your issue. That stuff smells more than feaces. (No exaggeration)

Go to a good dentist and make complains about the tonsil stones. They have a way of removing them from the throat and also help you clean them properly. They will also give you medications if required.

There are videos on youtube on how to remove tonsil stones.
But they look irritating and i dont want to ruin peoples appetite by posting the link here.

Sorry Brotherly... I only wish you well. I will advice you visit the hospital and run test to ascertain what could be the cause of the mouth odour. Also, limit on what you eat... Take more of refreshing vegetables like mint leaves. Get a good mouth spread to help subdue till you find a better option that will be permanent.
Concerning the frequency of headache whenever you wake up from sleep, I can be point that to be as a result of Snoring habit. In all, I will advice you go to the hospital for proper diagnosis and treatment. Stay bless and get well soon.

Make out time and resources and see an ENT (Ear Nose Throat) Specialist. You may schedule an appointment with the Consultant cadre in a teaching hospital close to you.
