Hi, I got the same e-mail. I have been able to fill the expedited appointment form but the problem is I had a Jan 4th interview date before I got an e-mail for the expedited one on Nov 13th. And I cant reschedule from January 4th to June 19th, not without having to pay another visa application fee. Has anyone who did the June 19th scheduling for expedited appointment purposes heard back?

What a great moment. I read 7 different back to back approvals in just 3 pages. Kudos and congratulations guys. Come over to Trump-land Biden-land and do us proud.

Can't wait to read approval transcripts from the two prospective muleriders I know on this thread. wink

No, I did initially receive an Oct 26 date for my interview before it was moved to Nov 13 because of the protest but that wasn't reflected on the interview scheduling portal.

Profile
Undergraduate: HND, hospitality Management
Funding: GTA plus Department Scholarship(s)
School: Texas Tech University
Deficit: ~$2,700
Course: Hotel Management
Location: Lagos consulate
Status: Approved, 6th Nov,
7am appointment

I hope the above helps someone out there.

NL has been helpful through the process for me, so I owe this platform my transcript. A big thanks to fairheart, you are always ready to help. To my Acer's WhatsApp group family, big thank you. And to my Gee, Ahmed, you're a true friend. despite having your visa more than a month now, you didnt stop motivating and reminding me we'll both be on the flight together to Texas. Thanks alot brother. Really boosted my confidence

At the interview hall, i noticed only two VO's were working. i must state that, both of them were friendly, atleast from the conversations i heard. And btw, it was an Approval back to back from them, the approval rate must have exceeded 80%, from what i observed while on the queue. So this gave me some more confidence. Then it was my turn. Here is my conversation with the VO.

VO: good morning
Me: good morning
VO: where are you going?
Me: I'm going the Texas Tech University for my masters degree in hotel management.
Vo: Hotel management hmm
Me: Yes, hotel management
Vo: why hotel management
Me: (about to talk, vo cut)
Vo: oh so which hotel are you working(must have seen from DS 160)
Me: bleep hotel, here in Lagos.
vo: Oh, bleep hotel.
Vo: So you did your nysc (i wasnt sure if he was asking when i did it or if i did it)
me: Yes, i did my NYSC. ( trying to avoid too much talk)
Vo: looks at his system, then said, Full funding hmm?(in my mind i started wondering if this VO didnt see the over 2k deficit in it)
Me: So i simply responded, Yes, full funding.
Vo: How did you get the funding
Me: I evaluated my transcript with world education service (WES), after which the official copy was sent to the school, i also submitted my SOP, resume and GRE score, and then ..(vo cuts in again)
Me: what was your GRE score
Me: i had ** in verbal, ** in quant and ** in writing.
Vo: at this point, the vo picked my i20 again and started looking at it seriously, seem he was comparing or confirming something on his system also. This period seem to be the longest 30seconds or more time of my life
Me: (my mind, i just kept telling myself that my village pple must not get me today. the look was taking long) I kept my cool still.
VO: Have you travelled out before?
Me: No sir, Never had any reason to.
Vo: Married, any kids?
Me: No.
Vo: i will be approving your visa, go to windows 22 to pay your reciprocity fee. Enjoy your study in the US
Me: Thank you sir. i sharply run off, before he remember another question. lol

NB: No single document was asked. typing it now seem longer. i dont think it lasted up to 4min
I just thank God.

Me: Good morning (Removes mask)
VO: Good morning, Please put on your mask. We are going to start by taking your finger prints.

After that was completed

VO: So where are you going?
Me: UIUC

VO: Hmm, Urbana Champaign, why are you going there?
Me: I'm a masters student in aerospace engineering at the university and I expect to resume on campus in the spring.

VO: why did you select University of Illinois?
Me: The program at the school has an interesting course structure that provides me with the opportunity to specialize in structural aerospace engineering which is a particular interest of mine.

VO: who's sponsoring the program?
Me: The department gave me a generous funding that comes with tution waiver and monthly stipend to cover for living expenses

VOsadchecks my i20) What do you intend to do with the degree
Me: I intend to use the degree and skills gained from the program to return to Nigerian and join the National Space Research and Development agency to (Vo cuts in)

VO: Are you married?
Me: No

VO: Any children?
Me: No

VO: have you travelled out of Nigeria?
Me: Yes. I've been to the US, UK, UAE

VO: (pauses for a while) when was the last time you were in the US?
Me: 2017

VO: I intend to issue your Visa
Me:, Thank you

VO: here are your documents blah blah blah
Me: Thank you

I noticed my interview was a lot shorter than most other people. I completed my interview before the two people in front of me on the queue.

The Lady that's going for PHD in chemistry (knows a little too much about nanochemistry,  likes mixing chemicals and has never blown up a building), I tried waiting for you but an officer told me to keep moving. I really hope your friend and the third guy with us also got accepted.

I also noticed two things I thought I should share

1. After an applicant answered a question the VO asked, the next thing the VO said was "how long did you practice that speech?". He eventually got the Visa but I believe the VO tried asking questions he wouldn't expect him to have prepared for cause further down the interview, after answering a question, the VO asked whether he prepared that and he was like "NO" and The VO enthusiasticly said "Yeah I like it when we just talk".

2. An applicant who I think was going for Chemistry was asked what "entropy" was. He was also asked which had more entropy between "air" and one other option I didn't hear.

Lastly, I observed there were more acceptance than rejection during my time in the hall.

Lolz.
Yes, we all got our visas.
I won't say I know too much about nanochemistry.

6th November 2020
Window 10

VO: So where are you going?
Me: I am going for a PhD program in Chemistry at the University of Louisville, Kentucky

VO: Why Chemistry?
Me: I always loved the thought of manipulating matter into whatever I wanted it to be, as long as I remember. For that reason I turned down admission into the University of Ibadan (one of the best universities in Nigeria) where I was offered Agricultural Economics to go to an anonymous private university in to study Industrial Chemistry.

VO: Hope you never blew up your lab? (laughing)
Me: No.

VO: What research will you be doing?
Me: I proposed to the university to work on nanochemistry. I want to work on reducing the molecular and atomic sizes of substances while optimizing their enhanced properties. These improved nano substances can be applied in cosmetics, drug delivery, agriculture and more to enhance the rate of reaction.

VO: How did you know about the assistantship?
Me: Hence I want to go into full-time research and the minimum educational qualification required to become a researcher is a PhD, I particularly sought for schools that offered financial assistance, as the five year long program will require a lot of finance to complete.

VO: What do your parents think about you leaving them?
Me: My dad insists I come home to visit every year; if I granted a visa.

VO: What does your dad do?
Me: He is a network marketing consultant.

VO: And your mum?
Me: She doesn't work.

VO: This will be a new adventure for you. I will be recommending you for a visa.
Me: Thank you.

VO: Enjoy your stay in the US, hoping things are still normal after this election (lauging).

I must say that the resources here have been very useful. Thanks.

The general mentality is that the person will come and take the portion of his own assistantship or funding.

It’s just like some dude here who went to US to study with borrowed money and refused to come back then got married either hook or crook to be able to stay grounded there but they are now preaching for some folks with different advice not to leave naija and study abroad instead of telling them how to do the right thing that will work out for them. They even go extra miles to condemn people with good intention plans, I wonder if the plan ain’t friendly why haven’t dey return grin grin grin

VISA Approved.

Firstly, I want to cancel my official appointment which I got for NOV 13 as I used an emergency route, so you can log in to CGI website today at 6:00pm prompt to check if you will be lucky.

I was scheduled for 8a.m today.
VO: Good morning
Me: Yea, Good morning, how are you doing

VO: Fine, hope you are not anxious
Me: No

VO: Give me your passport with the docs inside it

VO: What are you going to do in the US
Me: I am going to continue my PhD studies in Chemistry.

VO: Why Chemistry?
Me: I intend to pursue a career in research. Having suffered from several bouts of malaria and other infectious diseases while growing up, I would like to join other elite researchers in developing new and existing chemical molecules that could be applied in abating these diseases.

VO: After typing for some seconds, where are U working?
Me: I am a supervisor at .... ( I am a supervisor at a fed. govt parastatal, a role I have been in for almost 7 years).

VO: What does that have to do with Chemistry
Me: Well, I have been using that to support my career. I did my MSc. in Med Chem at .... from 2015 to 2018. (I actually had an opportunity to work with SWIPHA and Nigerian breweries when I got that job but I declined as both won't give me time to do my thing)

VO: I will be approving your visa.
Me: I didn't utter any more words.

He didn't ask for any other thing. I collected my documents, paid my reciprocity fee and left. Generally, today was a good day for many guys at least for the five people that went in with me.

NB: Everything I wrote in bracket, I didn't say them. I am actually on full funding with TA. I applied to Ucincinnati, MSU, UAuburn, and UMaine.

Good luck to everyone!!

Visa approved 30th of October. I've been a silent reader on here for a while. Thank you to everyone who has contributed! Here is my transcript.

VO: Good morning sir, pass me your passport.
Me: Good morning
VO: Alabama!
Me: Yes
VO: why did you choose Alabama
Me: I chose Alabama because the research interests of my advisor matches well with mine and I also felt very welcomed by the department, so I'm very happy to be going there.
VO: Chemical engineering? What kind of chemistry will you be doing?
Me in my mind "I'm not doing chemistry o"
Me: I'll be working on heterogeneous catalysis
VO: Catalysis? So you'll be working with catalysts. Is that organic chemistry?
Me: No, it's physical chemistry.
VO: did you apply to other schools?
Me: yes, I applied to 9 schools in all. Should name them?
VO: *shrugs* I don't really care. What's the most prestigious one you applied to?
Me: University of Michigan
VO: and you're going to Bama?
Me: well, Michigan didn't admit me.
VO: which schools admitted you then?
Me: Stevens, MTU and Alabama.
VO: alright. Have you travelled out of Nigeria before?
Me: yes
VO: when?
Me: told him...
VO: which states in Nigeria have you lived?
Me: Lagos and Ogun
VO: so you went to covenant?
Me: yes
VO: are you married?
Me: (in my head- babe sef I no get ) No, I'm not married
VO: any kids?
Me: NO sir
VO: okay, I'll be approving your visa, take this slip to window 22 and pay your reciprocity. Have a great time at Alabama. Best of luck

My interview felt a little longer than other people that were in the hall same time as me. From what I've noticed from reading other transcripts is that the two VOs have some interest in chemistry. It seems they asked lots of chemistry related questions lol. It was a chilled interview, felt more like gisting even though my heart was racing like crazy. My advice is that you should be confident in your answers and as long as you have been invested in your admission process I don't think you should be thrown off by unexpected questions. Congrats to everyone that has been approved, and success to all others interviewing soon .

Congratulations to all approved applicants.
What can I say? Y'all worked hard for this; some of you had to borrow money to fund this dream. So you deserve the joy your approval has brought to you!

My advise: Don't take the funding for granted! Some people somewhere desperately need them, but they don't know how to get it. It's a huge privilege! I know why I am saying this! Please do all you can to study well and graduate as one of the best students in your department. Success can turn to failure if we stop working hard to build on the foundational success, which is the opportunity to study in the US.

All the best guys! smiley

I began praying that I skip him but for this kin thing luck no dey favor me. I kept faith sha. But I sha still landed on his table.

When I got there he asked me to place my left hand on the scanner. I did and he couldn't get my finger print. We tried for a bit so I asked him, did you mean my left or right because you told me left. Then he apologized and said that he meant the right hand.

VO: Why did you choose this school

VO: Are you married

About changing sponsor I always prefer consistency... however I also rather use individual than company.

Lastly how can anybody tell you about your chances.
